Wicked game is so great what a nice surprise Celine

Love the low notes, we finally get to hear Céline go low up close to the mic in studio without too many other sounds.

 

I would’ve loved “For the Lover That I Lost” or “The Chase” to have been the other Spotify single.

 

And lastly, I’m curious what other songs are Celine’s longtime favorites that she would do in studio versions of if given the chance. This one was certainly a surprise.

Imperfections is clearly the studio vocal trac.

I would say it’s definitely not. Sounds like a live performance. The production is not the best either. Lots of „cheap“ reverb. (Not the good reverb she got in David Foster productions). Comparable to TSMGO studio version. Edited February 26, 2020 at 05:35 PM by ryba

still, I think PMLALS was initially intended to be released for this, hence Humberto Gatica was so certain that it will be released in February and was then surprised that it wasn’t. I don’t think PMLALS was for this. What the artist does is re-record one of her already released songs and then a cover. This concept is not meant to release new songs.

 

I’m loving Wicked Games, wouldn’t mind it in the tour.

No, the concept of Spotify Singles is that 1 song will be a new recording of an original track and 1 cover.

And they always release them on Wednesday.

 

PMLALS isn't one of them. And Valentines day was on a Friday.

I think it's time to forget this song.

That's a great move and this cover really brings something new on many aspects, especially for the use of a (very) low range.

This part is almost transcendental for me. Her tone is so low, but like so rich and deep, beautifull. But also, this is typical and at her best, Dion interpretation. The way she decides to emphasis some sylabs etc... It is so smart, she tells you a story, the flow is haunting... No mannerism or weird sounds.

Then I'm a bit disapointed by this part above. She puts a bit too much mannerism for me here.

 

 

That's a very positive move and still somehow I just feel like it ads to my frustration about Courage. Frustration and or lack of understanding. I mean, I usually never puts a project against another, when she does so good about fashion I'm not telling that she should rather put her energy in doing great music. But this time as it is about music I cannot just stop feeling like: You have 20 f****** new songs to play with. Ugh I mean, I reached this point when I read; I was so involved in the creation and the creativity of it. I’ve never taken so long to record an album, and the new writers, songwriters, and producers were all phenomenal. It’s the same Celine, but there are some different sounds and I’m trying different things that might be new for fans.

These two songs were recorded in NYC on the same day, specifically for Spotify. PMLALS has absolutely nothing to do with this release.

Maybe he's an audiophile? there are mp3/iPods that can deliver great audio quality than on the smartphones nowadays.. also because of the audio chip on that device

if you want better quality , you go with Tidal or Qobuz and need the equipment to enjoy it .

I have to say that I enjoy and appreciate the acoustic version of Imperfections a lot now after Ive read the story behind it, after Celine explained that she wanted us to hear the song the way she heared it first. It makes it special this Way.

 

I wish she would do a track by track interview for all Courage songs. I think I would appreciate these songs even more.

i know that it is much better than Apple or spotify , but you need good equipment to hear the full difference. Tidal has now a service like spotify , at about the same price and the same quality . A matter of choice.

I adore Céline’s cover of “Wicked Game” and I agree with people saying her low register is amazing on this song, but is seriously no one gonna talk about that insanely long falsetto note towards the end of the song? It’s got to be one of the longest she’s ever done.

 

Also, the new version of “Imperfections” is most certainly not the one she initially recorded in the studio (presumably earlier in 2019?) but a completely new recording.
