New Las Vegas residency show!

It's a snapshot of a point in time. And that appears to be about a year, 2022 +/- a few months. So I think she has had another year + of rehabilitation since.

 

That's kind of how I walked away feeling. Almost more of a snapshot than a documentary. I think (maybe delusionally) that a project like this with Celine had the potential to be one of the greatest documentaries of all time. Some of the incredibly superlative reviews aren't really where my head is at, but at the same time I feel it's so important and memorable.

That's what so interesting is she explains having to sing "more nasal" but the most nasal times of her career were before the TCWT...and I didn't even really notice a huge shift like the one she was describing. But maybe because we listen to her so much, the gradual changes got lost on us.

There’s no way RW would let that happen. It’s one thing if there’s NO show due to her health, it’s another thing if she just changes venues because she feels like it, unless resorts world has something HUGE planned in regards to booking talent, because they are struggling.

 

I tend to agree with you, however because RW is struggling badly, like really badly, I feel as if Celine did sign with MSG/The Sphere it would be advantageous for her. Like I've said before, RW needs her, not the other way around. She'll sell out no matter the venue. I've heard Britney might be signing with RW as well. They need a big name and if it's not Celine it has to be an artist of her stature and iconic-ness.

Impossible. The Sphere belongs to Live Nation, not AEG. Celine's still definitely under AEG.

It's a pity though:( I like the Sphere so much better than the RW. It's a much bigger venue, so it would be a perfect place to hold way less concerts there. And also, some great visuals on the wall could potentially allow Celine to move less if she needs to.

Yes, all of that. Plus, Céline has done so much in Vegas already. The only more innovative thing that she can now do that wasn’t possible before is the Sphere. Like if you’re not going to do something different/better than what you’ve already done, what’s the point? Rather use your limited energy/health/time for the most exciting things than using it up on the same old. But I’ll take anything from now on.

The Sphere looks spectacular, but nothing beats the intimate setting of a theatre imo. That's the main reason why I like her Vegas residencies. The arena tours usually had much better setlists, but you don't get to feel quite as close to the artist (even if you're in front row). Edited June 22, 2024 by Dancing_Queen

Regardless of anything else, considering SPS can be set off by overstimulation, I can't imagine an elaborate, fully-encapsulating, kinetic display like the kind to which the Sphere lends itself would be a particularly good idea, no matter how good Céline feels about her treatment regimen.

Yeah Céline would probably want a stage where she can see everything that’s going on (i.e. ideally in front of her) so that she isn’t randomly surprised by something moving behind her or constantly catch glimpses of things outside her main field of view.

I was very worried about Celine when she was on the red carpet for the documentary, with all those flashes from cameras and screaming. But Celine took it like a champ. Plus she keeps visiting concerts where there are so many random lights...

When I was in the “fan pen” at Mon evening’s screening, waiting as she was talking with all the reporters, security came by a couple times to tell us “no yelling, no screaming when she comes over or you’ll be escorted out”. So when she did come over you could hear a pin drop, we were all so worried for her!

But then once Irene introduced her at the screening, she came on stage to rapturous applause so I guess she’s fine with it after all? Perhaps the danger is more when it’s a sudden, unexpected noise? She seemed fine with all the camera flashes, too, and we know that’s sudden and jarring. All bodes well.

Even before her illness, I was hoping for a more stripped down/ acoustic show.

 

I think it's the right moment now... even though it might seem "forced" to do it.

 

But she hinted at such a show when they were working on the new residency.

 

I couldn't care less of her bombastic songs ( especially since they are mostly lipped).

 

But I think her small attempts to do it ( the acoustic medleys in Vegas) are not really liked among her fanbase.

The last acoustic medleys we had in Vegas were just a bit bland weren’t they? They were boring - and obviously we now know why, but A New Day Has Come in the medley was just awful. She couldn’t sing it

I think that’s what Celine was saying singing more nasal and different kind of singing kinda like yodeling just to continue doing shows. But yeah it doesn’t sound good

I actually enjoyed the acoustic medleys we’ve had in the last few years. The 2015 one in Vegas was so special, I particularly remember her dedicating it to René at the opening night of the revamped show.

I also adored the acoustic medley from the 2016 tour, but the strings medley she did in the 2018 tour and in the last year of Vegas was kinda boring, maybe because of the songs chosen…

 

I’m still dreaming of an acoustic performance of “Where Is The Love” ❤️

I remember people saying she made it clear she didn’t like the screaming when she would stop to sign things outside her hotel in Paris.

She may not have crisis like before thanks to medication but she certainly has « bad » days where she is just tired and feel more rigidity in her muscles. That could explain a MET cancellation.

I’m not surprised. Zhane’s got kids and a family and a life… she probably just wants to keep her life “normal”. I will admit I did like her hair way better then when Dee started doing it… I just think Zhane had that more classic Celine look down.
