scielle Posted October 22, 2021 at 12:35 AM Posted October 22, 2021 at 12:35 AM Btw, Maki_Dion-er, I apologise I got one of Scielle's reponses mixed up with yours about her taking a pandemic-induced break from ballet. Just as you speculate she stopped ballet because of COVID...what evidence did you have for that? Turned out to be factually wrong as she said in the interview that you listened to several times that she was still doing ballet halfway through the "Covid moment" up to that point.Huh? I don't see how my supposition that she could have stopped for logistical, covid-induced reasons "turned out to be factually wrong" based on what she said? All I hear is she stopped part-way through covid. The two statements aren't mutually exclusive. She could well have stopped because whoever she was working with wasn't available (iirc from social media at the time, I think Naomi was in Quebec for part of lockdown, but it seems she and fam have sold their LV house and relocated to BC since, so perhaps she was busy figuring out her life and not available for daily zoon ballet sessions). Or, without the routine of shows, the post-show dance cooldown simply wasn't something Celine needed as much as when she was working. Who knows, all we're doing is speculating here. Quote
idroveallnight Posted October 22, 2021 at 01:38 AM Posted October 22, 2021 at 01:38 AM It's all very sad you know. She seemed so buzzed for everything here (I have never seen this extended version of the interview) https://youtu.be/j7h_Jpy2hqg Great interview, I hadn't seen it either. Thanks for sharing. Quote
idroveallnight Posted October 22, 2021 at 01:46 AM Posted October 22, 2021 at 01:46 AM I'm remembering a French interview from about the mid 90's where she mentioned she started working out & stretching because of bad back pains but that it didn't help her so she stopped because she was getting too many muscles & she didn't want that lol. She said she went to see a specialist and he told her that the muscles on the back of her legs were "too short compared to the length of my thigh which means they're pulling on my lower back." Does anyone recall this interview? I have it saved on my computer from an Instagram video uploaded with English translations. Maybe whatever is happening now really is due to old back issues. This some true Celine fan investigatory work -- nice job! 1 Quote

If the pandemic didn't stop her in Canada from doing ballet, why would it stop her in Vegas? She doesn't need a partner or instructor to do the steps she knows or continue on her own, and even if so she had Vegas ballet contacts / could easily acquire them. She was already doing ballet in lockdown after her shows had cancelled. She cleary was doing dance exercise during lockdown, and then stopped suddenly. It's possible she didn't feel like it, or it's possibly there was something that prevented her that she didn't want to disclose. It seems odd to give up something that is giving you such joy during a very rough and/or less structured time like COVID. Quote

As is the possibility that she may have stopped simply because the change of routine associated with covid. None of what she said negates that. And I don't know if covid has necessarily been so rough for her. I think it may have actually been a welcome, albeit unplanned, break. Obviously it's been an incredibly tough time for many, but it's been the very opposite for some of us as well. I, for one, have loved working remotely and seeing the continent while at it. It's been a blessing, and I dread going back to pre-covid routine. Quote

Like I said, if she stopped touring in spring 2020 and was doing ballet at least until fall 2020, there was nothing "pandemic-induced" that stopped her from being able to do ballet. There's no reason she couldn't have done it in Vegas, and she certainly didn't say that was a reason. Maybe she welcomed the break...in which case she would be happy to fill her time even more with something that gives her joy: like ballet. And you're right, the pandemic has affected everyone differently and has had some pluses amidst its minuses. Quote

Thank you. I was looking for this interview. If this is indeed the issue and Celine is having these spasms because her muscles in her thighs are too short compared to the length of her thighs which is resulting in pulling on her lower back, I wonder if there is a treatment for this? Whatever the issue may be, I do believe this is a lower back spasm and not vocal related. Celine has had plenty of vocal rest since the pandemic, so it really wouldn't make sense if this was a vocal issue. It's not like she would be full out singing in rehearsals, so I really do think this is a lower back problem. Thank you for bringing up this interview anyways. I was looking for it everywhere. Quote

I did exercices everyday, teaching myself new words everyday on top of the official lessons I got from an Hearing Impaired person (there's a lot of great videos and syllabus on line - at least for french sign language). But I didn't like the teacher. Then Covid hit and we had to do lessons via Skype. Then the non-liking of the teacher grow stronger. So I quit. Not saying that's what happened with Celine. Bro, I don't care whether Celine does ballet or not. She's not my child, she's a grown adult. But if something relates to her physical health and fitness, then it is worth bringing up if her physical health and fitness are the reasons she is not performing. These are public interviews and press releases she gave. Yes, there could be many reasons why. And included in those list of reasons is there was something deeper going on even before November. Not likely, but a small chance. Quote

Céline RO Posted October 23, 2021 at 07:45 AM Posted October 23, 2021 at 07:45 AM Anyone else think that her spasms may not be related to anything she’s experienced in the past? It might just be something totally unexpected in a random part of the body, not necessarily her voice or back. There might not have been any underlying issue, at least that’s the sense I get from the tone and wording of the statement she/TC released - that they were taken totally by surprise.
