Good to hear. Honestly, for me it isn't a competition, as long as her songs do good I don't care which one it is. I love all 3.

 

EDIT: I just read through some comments from LD on yt and several people mention having been looking for the song since Carpool Karaoke, perhaps another reason it has more views on YouTube than Imperfections & Courage.

 

Yes, LD was highly anticipated because it was on this show.

glad for the positive comments all the 3 songs get, she deserve to have another #1 on the billboard charts.

After listening to Lauv's new single (Feelings) I like Imperfections even better. IMO the song he wrote for Celine is better than the one he wrote for himself, which is wonderful.

I think radio stations were hoping for something different from the usual big belting songs from Celine. I think many are shocked by the low-key vocal approach and great tempo of this song. Celine has to give people a different perception of her. The public at large just think of big notes when they think of Celine. This is a fresh start! Exactly. Please no adlib or belting. That's what makes this song so different for her and a breath of fresh air.

I find it catchy and I find myself singing a few lines here and there but it’s a little too, idk, shallow for me? I just love the lyrical depth of Courage and Lying Down immensely.

Not shallow at all. One of her most profound songs when it comes to lyrics. But the "light" feeling is the modern sound and the way it is produced.

 

 

When I first heard it i kinda thought of Forget Me Not. She sings it similarly soothing and soft, and the production of that song was also quite "light".

I strongly disagree with the comments supporting this song as single material.

 

The official channel on YouTube released all 3 songs. So far views for Lying Down stand at 1.3m, Courage 700k and Imperfections 400k. I think it is clear that people prefer to replay Lying Down. I actually find it catchier as it has an instant hook. Imperfections is more of a grower IMO. Also not a big song for the stage, unlike Lying Down that worked just fine.

 

It is a new sound for Celine, I agree. Not that unique though. Listen to almost any song from Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel (2009) by Mariah. Similar production.

 

Not that any of this matters though. Radios do not play Celine. In a universe were Celine received airplay though, I am sure Lying Down would have been the better option.

 

I don’t think you can look to YouTube much as an indicator for this because on the day of release, I got notifications for both Lying Down and Courage being added to YouTube, but not Imperfections. So if other people didn’t get the notification to watch it either, they may not have gone to watch it on YouTube like the other two songs.

Many friends who have NEVER ever even stream Celine are in love with tho and are listening, this song has the potential... especially a song that’s not only modern but the message of admitting to self imperfections hits home for almost everyone, everyone struggles with something in that regard, everyone listening and yes even Celine Dion.
