Yea that is so super!! And very unreal!

I wish the songs were stronger though. Don't get me wrong I love them (most of them).

If all this effort is made for these "great songs by fans' standards" (but maybe not stong competition to what's out there today) and it doesn't bare fruit chanses are they'll never promote her like this again coz they will conclude that "nothing works despite all efforts" when infact it's that the songs could have been stronger.

I think the songs are a step in the right direction, and it’s the ultimate tease for the upcoming album. They’re all so different, and yet still very Céline - without any pretensions. They’ve got people praising her for doing what she’s good at, as well as trying something new. Imperfections has potential to crossover the age gap and win some Ariana /TSwift fans. I wonder how it will play live?

"...“Imperfections” is a casually impressive stride. Dion sounds confident and steady, and the production moves with a light sultriness, never taxing her but bursting with the tug-of-war between darkness and joy that suggests Dion would have made a great disco diva"

Great review!! I really love that light tension. It’s weirdly super motivating! Thanks for the excerpt!

Nice one!! Ever since IDAN I thought she'd make a greadt "disco diva". To me that's the right field for her to head at now. Powerballads with high notes, soft rock midtempos... we know she can do that, let's try something else. :)

No surprise, it’s the song out of the three with the most potential to be a hit... tc/Sony should be marketing this song as the lead single, with a music video AND should be added into the Tour ASAP, just ridiculous that she released 3 songs day of the tour and totally ignored one live, while doing the two on Tour.

Maybe they thought I song will be too "edgy" for the audience there in her country? :-D

Just kidding...

Due the fiasco of starting a tour before the album is out

and having her in an interview saying "I can't talk much, I can't say much about this and that"

maybe they wanted to wait and not to have all the singles to be include in the setlist

so they left out I for other dates

It's a pefect liftter to include in the setlist, imo they have more faith in this song for the USA audience

so maybe there it will be the leading single?

Yea it's a mystery. Especially when it is the least vocally demanding one....

It almost feels they keep this from us from the somewhat booring setlist. And then when they eventually add it they think we should be content that they actually "went that far".

I strongly disagree with the comments supporting this song as single material. :pinch:

The official channel on YouTube released all 3 songs. So far views for Lying Down stand at 1.3m, Courage 700k and Imperfections 400k. I think it is clear that people prefer to replay Lying Down. I actually find it catchier as it has an instant hook. Imperfections is more of a grower IMO. Also not a big song for the stage, unlike Lying Down that worked just fine.

It is a new sound for Celine, I agree. Not that unique though. Listen to almost any song from Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel (2009) by Mariah. Similar production.

Not that any of this matters though. Radios do not play Celine. In a universe were Celine received airplay though, I am sure Lying Down would have been the better option.

“Imperfections” is getting played here in the USA; I’ve heard it at least 7 times on A/C radio. (I never heard “Ashes”, or “Recovering”)

However, have not heard “Courage” or “Lying Down”....that says a lot;, radio stations had 3 choices and chose what they view at most Radio friendly and so far it seems to be “Imperfections”.

Maybe it was the official single then? Or all 3 songs are singles? This process is extremely baffling!

I’m not sure, it’s the first time I’ve seen anything like this from Celine.

However, if shooting a music video for “Lying Down” so far and performing it live doesn’t make it a single I don’t know what does...so far Team Celine and Celine have shown “Lying Down” the respect of a single... yet radio seems to be saying” what a minute we’ll play this but not that”...

Maybe three releases on the same day was to gage what style the people like better :hmm:

Now if they would’ve done this when they released GTBSW from ANDHC with two other songs, a lot might have been different today LOL.

I agree, Lying Down would be the best choice for the first single, it’s the most catchy song out of the three and it’s also the one that has the most views on YouTube.

Probably the most views because of the Sia army fan base that want to hear the song; that doesn’t make it single material tho.

That could be a reason but it's not a huge army rushing to hear it based on the comments under the video which are 98% there for Celine. Courage has more than Imperfections and isn't that far behind from LD, and it wasn't written by Sia.

I do think Imperfections is the most radio friendly (and definitely growing) because of its lighter tone but imo that doesn't make it better than LD. I also like that we're getting a video of one of her more serious English songs (that isn't a love song) because we usually get stuff for her romantic/more upbeat ones.

I do hope it gets a music video in addition to LD. Although, we don't even know what other songs will be released in November and maybe one of those will be better for a video.

Remember when many were angry FOMO didn't get a video and were thinking it was going to be the best song of the album? We know that was wrong, so I'm really curious to see what else will come.

I see what you mean there, and it definitely seems like the fans are choosing lying down way more. But if you look at the Spotify numbers and the iTunes chart, which is where she really needs to do better on streaming not necessarily YouTube, this song is doing much better almost double I think. If ashes had only been streamed more I think it would have chatted because it was very good on YouTube especially the first couple weeks.

Good to hear. Honestly, for me it isn't a competition, as long as her songs do good I don't care which one it is. I love all 3.

EDIT: I just read through some comments from LD on yt and several people mention having been looking for the song since Carpool Karaoke, perhaps another reason it has more views on YouTube than Imperfections & Courage.

Oh I don't know...

This would be a horrible single choice. It is an ok track but nothing special to me.

Modern production but simply not my cup of tea. It doesn't hold a candle to Lying down...

Et la vie glisse sur l'eau du temps

La vie resiste, prend son elan

Pour un baiser elle peut se poser

Le temps qui compte est toujours compte

I'm on-board too! This is playing nonstop on my phone. If you listen to Lauv, most of his songs are repetitive in the chorus and I love the song is like that. So mellow, calming and relaxed. :)

but this song has the highest chance of it being played on the radio, giving exposure to the album as a whole. Once people hear it on the radio, they may come across the other songs too.
