Okay, this has to be the lamest Celine question ever but here it goes - What is the meaning to MHWGO? When I first heard it, I was going through a tough time in my life and it helped me get through it. It's always been a song of strength and recovery for me. I have a feeling though that there isn't bitterness in the real, love/Titanic meaning so I'd love to know what the meaning is.

 

''My Heart Will Go On'' always makes me think of ''Et Je T'aime Encore''.

 

 

 

Somewhere I read that Céline uses color contacts, to make her eyes darker or lighter- can´t remember

Here eyes change a lot in the light. When we met her up close they were so dark brown I was surprised! cause mine are dark brown and I never would have thought hers changed so much. But then onstage in the lights they were greenish brown, hazelly. And in pictures with the flash and stuff they are usually a light brown/ olive. They are really pretty, wish mine did that!

I can't remember ever reading that. To tell you the truth, wearing contacts is not always pleasant... I wear contacts and there are some days that I want to flush them down the toilet. So wearing them if you don't need to... I don't know... My optometrist also told me that they don't recommend contacts for people suffering from sinusitus or allergies (and believe me I'm paying the price now because I didn't want to listen to him). So I don't think Celine wears contacts.

 

ladylindsey, you are right, Celine's eyes does change. I think it might also have something to do with her mood. I absolutely love her eyes...

in the ONCP DVD feature "Si Celine m'etait contee" Celine is singing footlose and some other songs in her own goofy and fun way. I just love when she does that kind of thing. Does anybody know what are the other songs she's singing?

I think we can be sure that Céline doesn't use "her" private jet anymore... (temporary or definitive, who knows...)

OK this is random and I apologize if this has already been discussed, but on the US version of My Love: Essential Collection, the version of "All By Myself" is slightly different than the album version. On tour, Céline sings one of the last choruses a cappella. In the original album version, that chorus is accompanied by a piano track. Well, on the My Love version, the piano track has been omitted, and Céline sings that chorus a cappella.

 

Just thought I'd pass this along in case anyone missed it.

Yeah I've noticed that too, thats why the new version is called the 2008 version, so that it sounds like how it was performed on the TC tour...

With all of this Whitney Houston talk lately - it has made me ponder on the Divas of the 1990s. Mariah. Whitney. Celine. What a phenomenal decade of powerhouse vocals.

 

And they are about to do another Diva's Live special on VH1 with some fresh-faced singers. None of which are anywhere near the vocal magnitude of Whitney, Mariah, or Celine. Though, I do like some of their choices (ADELE!)...

 

But here we are about to end another decade - and it's caused me to reflect on these three divas. And who, honestly, still has "the voice". I understand that growing older comes with the loss of vocal ability - but look at Whitney and Mariah. They do not have an ounce of the vocal power they once had. (Think about Barbra Streisand. She is significantly older than these two divas - yet she still has the essence of the voice she's always had!)

 

And this leads me to the year 2007. When Celine recorded two albums. One for her French fan base - and another for her English fan base. While I could go into tremendous detail about how I wish both albums were given much, much, much more attention (both in promotion and concept) - I am thrilled to have them in my collection. Because more than anything - they proved that Celine Dion, after all of these years, still has tremendous vocal ability.

 

I was scared when I listened to "Miracle" - even though I knew it was a rush-job. Because her range was a fragment of what it once was. And this came after the extremely scary "Live in Las Vegas" CD. I wasn't sure how Vegas was treating her vocal chords! And there were some signs of hope (such as the two new tracks for her French greatest hits - as well as some live performances like "Summertime") -- but I was concerned that Celine was, like Whitney and Mariah, losing much of her ability. But 2007 proved me wrong.

 

And now I listen to tracks from Whitney's new album - and it really bothers me that these songs are the best of what she can do. A studio recording should sound perfect -- and that's all she was able to offer? What the hell happened?

Well I love all 3 of the divas, and I think it's hard to compare them as they are all very different artists. On the technical scale Celine still gives a great live performance, but Mariah can also deliver when she rests well and really tries(Charmbracelet Tour, some recent performances). Whitney's voice is not what it once was, but she is trying very hard and her voice is still good to me. I don't know how Whitney currently sounds live, but we'll find out in a few days when she does GMA.

 

And I really hope this doesn't become another petty Celine vs. Mariah thread.

I am also a fan of all three. And I cannot wait for the Whitney Houston performance on GMA. But - if she doesn't sound all that great on the actual recording.....my fear is that she will not even sound that good live.

No offence, but I don't think ''Miracle'' was suppose to show off Celine' s range and vocal ability. Huge notes would have been inappropriate on that album. But, yeah I agree with you. Celine definitely still has it. Between the three of them, she is the only one that can still sing her hits. I think she is going to sound even better after this break... Whitney will have to do a lot to impress me again. I was never really a fan of Mariah, but I can hear that her voice is not what it used to be...

I am a fan of old Mariah and a sort of fan of Whitney. There is definantly no denying the talent all [at least] had [or have, depending on their fans]. I get kinda sad when I see that video of Mariah performing "Anytime you need a friend" in 1993, and Whitney Houston performing One Moment in Time at the Oscars? because, to me I found those performances like, last year, and in compareson to early 90's to now is just so insane. Whitneys WMA? ir was it DL? performance of IWALY was horrid, and it was so sad because she was so amazing. And Celine, I will go and say that I didn't like what I think Vegas did to her voice. It sounded much more nasily than ever, and I think maybe that was because of the Vegas air, but more likely because she sang so much!! But I noticed a change at the TCWT that the nasily-ness wasn't as bad, and I hope that this break, she will be able to freshen herself up. I see the video of her singing All By Myself in south Africa, the supposed only live performance and I think it's amazing, she hits all the right notes, and I see her performing these songs still so beautifully- The Prayer, I'm Your Angel, etc and I am just so glad that she hasn't gone down the same route as some of her peers. I think she may be afraid of turning into Maria Callas. haha. I am thankful that Celine has kept her voice. And I read people saying that Celine isn't has good at the 90's and I understand, she doesn't have the exact same tone. She doesn't belt as much, but when she does keep a note, it's amazing, and she goes higher and lower more often than ever before, and she sounds more rounded rather than sharp, I think she sings somewhat differently, not necissarily better or worse. It's like she sings more real rather than mechanical.

Of course, people will beat me down and saw Celine is the exact same, and that Mariah is better now than ever, etc. But opinions are opinions. I think the years have been amazing to Celine. She has been able to balance her voice, her career, and her life as a mother and wife perfectly. And I may be the only one, but I like Celine's voice these days more than her voice 10 or 15 years ago. The Taking Chances album was greatly suited for her voice, and I love to hear her sing strongly with her voice now, TSMGO, IAMW, Fade Away in South Africa was AMAZING. Idk I love Celine's voice :P :D

Oh, and I am not saying Mariah and Whitney have no talent, or suck, or anything, I'm saying that I think Mariah and Whitney and Celine used to be comparable to eachother, and now I think that they really aren't as of August 30th 2009 and that sucks sardines. [but granted Mariah doesn't sing that often and she doesn't sing belty songs and Whitney hasn't sung live receintly either]

I was just following the recent comeback of Whitney Houston and all the hype around it and how many are saying she will have a tought time, that she wont be touring again, etc, and that while her new album is good and getting positive reviews, she doesnt hit the high notes anymore; she has a tough time of course because of her lifestyle with drugs, etc.

 

And I was thinking how Great it is to be fan of Celine and to have watched her stay clean all these years and still give us such fantastic recordings and concerts/tours and STILL Hit those out -of-this-world notes on each and every new album.

 

Celine, there is none other than you in your league. You outshine your contemporaries and the youngsters can't compete with your power or emotion.

I think that Then you look at me's history is full of shame. I mean, it's my favourite song of Celine because it's got an special significance for me. I think that Then you look at me is probably one of Celine's most powerful songs, but:

 

*The single was cancelled, so it was never released.

*She never performed the song live.

*I think that the single was cancelled because Bicentennial Man was a flop, but what about having promoted All the way... A decade of song with that amazing single??????

Yeah, the song "Then You Look At Me" is probably in the top five songs for me of songs I'd like to hear live. Don't Save It All, I Surrender, Map To My Heart, and When I Need You would all be fantastic vocal performances to hear live.

 

Between those five, the closest we have gotten to a live performance is a partial of IS and studio video of MTMH.

Does Céline have a personal trainer? Anyone know her training regimen? Her legs are phenomenal, but she's gotta be doing something extra special, know what I'm sayin'?

 

Anyone heard about what any of the band members are up to right now?

I'm pretty sure she doesn't have a personal trainer. She had a physiotherapist in Vegas and did pilates and stuff when she got back and leg pain from the slope of the stage, but before that, and since Vegas, she's always said she doesn't do any particular kind of exercise.

 

Does anyone know what this is about, btw? I know it's extremely random, and weird.

Ya i just think MHWGO meaning is that your love for someone (dead or alive )will live on/will go on forever in your heart . your heart (love) will go on and on always for that person. thats what i think :)

I often wonder about this song... excuse me while I share my thoughts.....

 

 

"Every night in my dreams I see you I feel you that is how I know you go on'' - So this person is not here anymore- dead, gone - whatever, just not in the person's life no longer.

 

So in the first verse it is implied that the person still feels the presence of the person that is gone - in their heart, dreams, no matter what they always know they are there with them.

 

Then the part that baffles me is the whole meaning of the chorus; there seems to be conflicting meanings but I guess it is open to interpretation, as is poetry.

 

Near, far, wherever you are

I believe that the heart does go on

Once more you open the door

And youre here in my heart

And my heart will go on and on

 

I understand that this missing person is never forgotten and that she will keep them in her memory/safe in her heart. But how then does this person open the door for her?? How can the memory of a missing person ''open a door'' for someone to love again? Or am I missunderstanding the meaning of what opening a door means in this song lol! :shrug:

 

what makes it even more confusing is that she says ''once more'' - what?! This missing person does it again and again?

 

Ok I'm tired I need to go to bed :laugh:
