Despite the sex scenes? Lol you do know hat the show was about right? Lmao

 

As far as I know, it was about relationships and lives of the main characters. A relationship isn't all about sex, sex is a small part of it. "Sex" was in the title so more "perverts" would watch the show. :giggle: It was hardly only about that.

Since you said "as far as I know", I'm taking that you didn't watch the show? I have seen each episode probably 20 times and about half of them over 50 times. The show is about sex, and sex, and sometimes, sex. When it's not, it's about sex. LOL It's also about the relationships and lives of the main characters...and how sex enters into all that. :-D

That was a central, central theme through the whole series -- that whatever the heartbreak or disappointment (as well as the joys) that can come from romantic relationships, friends are there to help you through it all. It wasn't just 4 single women -- it was 4 friends -- friends so close they had basically made each other their family.

 

And though they started out as 4 single women, most of them didn't end the series single. And through the series, all of them had serious romantic relationships, with their ups and downs. Charlotte married, divorced, and then married again, and struggled to have a baby. Miranda had an unplanned baby with her boyfriend and then got married. Even Samantha had a long-term relationship. And Carrie was in love with Big through pretty much the whole series . . .yes, there was sex and there was fashion in it, but it was about SO much more than that. I think that's why it was so powerful and so popular . . .

I absolutely agree with all of that, but the creators and writers also wanted to show that women can be just as sexually driven as men...and the show definitely focused a lot around that too. Even when Samantha was with Smith, 95% of what she talked about had to do with the power of sex. A lot of episodes centered on how women can use sexuality to get what they wanted. The show was always focusing on sex...that really was the biggest part of it, regardless of wether or not you fell in love with the characters and their lives.

Wow. It's true. This thread went through a lot. Just in the last week you guys went from Celine to RC social media sightings, to debates about Sex and the City??? Come on guys you can survive without Celine. Lol.

 

The RC social media sightings were in another thread. My bad.

 

Btw there are many interpretations to Sex and the City. Just so you know that show started on HBO and it had to be a little racy to be on there. Just sayin'

Well, Celine probably hides her eyes during those scenes.............. which would be about 3/4's of the series............ She only pays attention to the fashion parts.... :sofunny:

Thanks for sharing! I wonder whether this is an official song or if it is just a fan mix since it doesn't sound that professional. There are just some random vocals of Celine. I know this song but I never heared or read that it is an official featuring with Celine. I also wonder why Celine doesn't sing any actual words

It's an official song and not fan made. It was released several years ago. The quality on the youtube audio is not that great.

I think this just goes to show how important Celine is to Caesars Palace and Las Vegas. Quite simply no other performer has been able to command ticket sales like Celine has in Vegas.

 

When you think about it the numbers for "A New Day..." are staggering. 5 years, 717 shows, 3 million spectators and over $400 million in ticket sales. That's before we even consider numbers for Celine's current Vegas residency! The numbers are absolutely mind blowing.

 

So many have come and gone since Celine started with "A New Day..." back in 2003. Elton John, Bette Midler, Cher, Rod Stewart, Shania Twain and now Mariah Carey have all had extended stays in the venue. For different reasons some have moved on and some remain but none have commanded the sheer voiume of shows that Celine has performed and in turn none can command the same box office numbers. Celine was a once in a lifetime gig for Caesars Palace. She's the Elvis of her generation!

 

Regardless of how successful or not Mariah's residency proves to be she will not make headlines for the numbers listed above. It quite simply will never happen.

As bad as TMZ at reporting, this isn't only train wreck performance I have seen. Watching a few concerts online, it was very painful hearing her trying to belt out the notes. If MC performs like this at Caesars, they will lose money . I enjoyed listening to Mariah's music in the early 90's, but it seems as though her voice has deterioriated considerably. It could be due to stress, lack of vocal training, or other factors. She needs advice----call Céline.

Don't worry I would never wish anyone to believe that I in any way like Mariah Carey. In my opinion she's always been awful. Fortunately we don't really see much of her in the UK these days. It was more a criticism of TMZ
