Hello everyone! I hope this is the appropriate topic to ask my question :) I started to learn french not long ago, quite extensively and pretty much successfully so far, I should say. And of course I listen to Celine even more, french catalogue for the most part, because I think it's a great accompaniment :) So I would like to know about your experiences of learning french and how did you use Celine in your efforts cuz I think there are lots of people here who also started to learn french with a little help from our precious Celine :) Did you guys read her french lyrics and wrote down some words or you invented some new cutting edge methods? :-D

Well there are a lot that she mentions arms and heart in ..... as in, hold you in my arms and beating of my heart... :giggle:

Well in RegardeMoi, she says, "j'ai mal a la tete" i.e. "my head hurts" [tete=head].

 

In Destin, "je vois dans vos yeux mes lendemains" ("I see in your eyes my tomorrows"). Yeux=eyes

I seem to recall her saying that during her year 2000 break, she had planned on taking drawing lessons and ordered all sorts of supplies, but never ended up doing it.

Unfortunately this kind of talk is natural. (Celine vs. Mariah) The media will pit them against one another also.

I am not a Mariah fan but I do try to stay neutral. What was Caesar's to do, wait for Celine to return? That won't happen even if you are Celine Dion! They will want her back of course but they won't wait around forever. Actually they CAN'T wait around forever. It is always about the bottom line, no matter who you are! Just think of the revenue they have lost already. If Celine does come back I think a little competition is good for the soul! I think complacency starts to creep in otherwise. Just my thoughts :)

This is a fun game! We should do a different category every week! :) And listen to each song with a relevant lyric over and over. Then we'll all learn French and listen to lots of Celine!

 

Here are a couple more:

 

From SSDA: "Je rêve son visage je décline son corps" ("I dream of his face; I refuse to accept[?] his body") Visage = face, corps=body.

 

From En Attendant Ses Pas: "Et je prends soin de moi, rouge à mes lèvres, à mes joues" (And I take care of myself; red (rouge) on my lips, on my cheeks) Levres = lips; joues = cheeks.

 

Prenez-Moi (song never released to my knowledge, but so exquisite): "Prenez-moi dans vos bras" Bras=Arms

I think it means she doesn't want him. It's like my French teacher said- "J'ai mal à la Tête." Means I have bad in my head, but it's I have a headache. French can't always be translated directly, it's challenging at times.
