At midnight Beyoncé dropped her 5th studio album with 14 songs and a music video for every single one and few extra ones. She literally took over iTunes, literally every banner at the top is for her. What's really impressive is that nobody knew she was even working on album, there was no leaks, no promotion, it just appeared at midnight.

And some really like her, so casual fans are clueless that Celine has one out!

That goes to show you who the the record label chooses to support and who they leave over the hot coals.

 

Tho Beyonce does have talent and has a lot to say about the industry. Good for her that she did something like this. I heard the clips of her album on iTunes and it sounds good. It's a little different from what you normally hear from Beyonce. There are some different feels to this album and not just r&b and hip hop. That's really great.

That's what happens when you have an artist that takes care of her career and another who hasn't cared at all for a decade, just about breaking records with concerts in one singular place. And hence that's the difference of treatment they get from the record label

Aren't you young at 32??? You're young, SO young! My grandma lived 98 years, so I have not even spent 1/3 of my life yet!

 

I know Beyoncé is young and she's probably more focused in her career because she has many years to go with it. She also has the energy. But in case of Céline, I don't think it has to do with the age, I've never thought that's the obstacle with her. In my opinion, in her case there are other factors:

 

1) Her manager. It's been ages since René is managing her career, and the enthusiasm and passion that he had when Céline was 13, is not the same today. She has achieved all in her career, but that's not a reason to lower the bar, and he (both) have certainly lowered it. Something that I would understand if it wasn't for...

 

2) The number of concerts she performs. The quantity of shows she's done in the past decade is insane. It became clear their #1 prioroty (professionally speaking) are the money she gets from concerts. And I would have understood all the talk about her wish to spend more time with her family, priority change, motherhood and all that, if it wasn't because we see how she's broken her #ss in Las Vegas non stop for 5 years, while she jeopardised the promotion of her new albums and consequently, the maintenance of her international career, something that has been drastically reduced since 2003. Today her career is big and it keeps untouchable in certain places (like France), but when she was at her peak of popularity in 1999 and 2002, the place she left back in that day is quite different from today, thanks to her self-imposed confinement in Las Vegas.

 

3) The lack of artistic goals in her career. She delegates too much on this aspect. "Let others do, I just care about singing". Then its no surprise we don't have videoclips, more singles, coherent albums with a concept line behind, original and creative photoshoots, and so on.

 

4) And last but not least, the lack of support of her record label. There's not much Sony Music could have done to promote ANDHC, One Heart, D'elles and Taking Chances to make these albums bigger and more popular in radios, singles, videos etc when the artist herself is not willing for a minimum degree of commitment with the album promotion. Because -professionally- her #1 commitment was in Vegas (and it is today).

 

So if all the efforts they've put in the contracts she's signed with Caesars Palace would have been put also in the promotion of her albums, we would be talking of another story today.

Yep. 32 is considered young in today's standards and to be honest I don't look like I am 32 well I have been told. I look younger than that.

 

I agree with you about how Vegas holds her back. I am not the best person to debate on this issue but I do agree that her stability and wanting to stay at one place does hinder her career. That contract with AEG is like hell. They do not allow her to perform in certain places. If they do not let her perform in different places than that can hinder promotion.

 

I wish she were not there because her career would be much better. I just feel like after Vegas she is now forgotten for the singer that she is. It's sad. Well at least to the U.S.

I believe it's all about marketing. Even the bad thing if it got marketed properly could still be sold. And look at her now, she can still sell that much, imagine if they had a best marketing posible what it would be like ? It's not about the song, it's not about the age. For example, when Adele not yet hold a name here a young friend of mine said she's boring and her song is blah, when lady gaga come another young friend of mine her song is suck, when Umrella song hasn't yet popular another one that song is unlistenable, and everything is change when it's popular, they change their mind and act like the song and the singer is the best singer of all time.
