No, I'm sorry. That was a reference to "the shining" a poor one at that. I need to get a life.

Oh, ok. I've never seen that film! lol

In short Gary should leave Celine alone. :angry2: It's a great classic horror movie, one of the best ever in my opinion. Stanley Kubrick was a genius. You'll never look at twins the same again. :fear:

I did my presentation for English lesson and it starts like that: If I may, I would like to decribe you...

I have to limit reading the forum and watching Celine videos! :giggle:

Does anyone know Billly Joel's reaction to Céline's version of Lullaby? Obviously he doesn't mind taking the royalties, but I am curious if he has ever made a positive or negative comment abt her rendition.

I once heard they are good friends. Someone mentioned Joel attended recording sessions of Celine. Besides, he is with Sony too.

Me too. Billy's music is timeless. He and Elton John are the piano men that everyone can enjoy and never go away.

As "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke Featuring Pharrell and T.I. commands the Mainstream Top 40 tracks for a tenth week-in-a-row, they join an elite club which includes Celine's "My Heart Will Go On" for the top longest-running number one songs on that chart:

I tried googling Billy Joel and Céline DIon together and nothing came up so thanks for the answer. Interesting and cool that they are friends. I am long time fan of Billy Joel and used "Just the Way You Are" for my wedding song. It was popular a choice in the early 80's. The Piano man has a soft spot in my heart

This morning, while I was driving to work, I heard Katy Perry's "Roar" on 3 different stations at once. Seriously, I went from one station to another, and they were *all* playing Roar at the *same* time. A minute later, I heard it on a 4th station. Driving home, I heard it twice more. It was like a kind of nightmare where you keep changing the channel, but hear the same song . .and never Celine! (course, i never minded when they were playing MHWGO like that back in '98!)

Celine gave an interview for Westways (the magazine, you get if you're a triple A auto club member) and it was the weirdest thing because itms like what? You don't expect to see a Celine interview in a Westways magazine haha

what did she say? :)

It was just like the rest of her recent interviews, nothing really new but here you go! :

What are some of your first memories of visiting California?

Twenty-three years ago, I came to work on my first English album in Malibu with David Foster. It was the first time I'd worked with a famous producer, and I couldn't believe I was recording an English album when I was just starting to speak the language. The experience was phenomenal and taught me that working with amazing people can bring out the best in you.

Where are some of your favorite places you've visited?

I've traveled around the world, but much of it has been at such a speed, there's been no time to relax and enjoy the cities we were visiting. On my last world tour, we had the luxury if taking our time. My mom, RC and I went on a safari in South Africa. You think you know what a safari's going to be like, but once you're in a jeep and a lion is roaring in front of you, that's a whole other gig. It's not like the zoo, they're not hiding behind a fake rock with people staring at them and taking pictures. Instead they're in their own habitat protecting their babies. It was a spiritual experience.

Where do you go to listen to live music?

Between recording albums, performing 70 shows a year in Vegas, promoting projects on television, I rarely have time. I did see Elton John, Cher and Bette Midler perform. I'll keep that stuff for later in life when all my kids are in school.

Tell us about your new album Loved Me Back To Life.

I'm at a point in my life where Indon't want to reinvent myself, but it's not a place where I want to completely repeat myself either. I'm extremely happy that the writers on Loved Me Back To Life wrote songs that are modern, powerful and fresh, but still me. Fifteen or so years ago, singing was all about showing your pipes. I've proven myself so I don't have to bleed every time I sing a song. Loved Me Back To Life is refreshing in that I approached it as a musician singing songs I love in a voice that's drier, earthy, relaxed and has grain.

Any upcoming changes in your Vegas show when it returns December 30?

The show evolves constantly. The team and I get our brains going to keep it fresh by adding a medley or something up tempo.

What do you love about living in Vegas?

I live 35 minutes away from the main action where there's regular day to day life - school, churches, work. Then there's "big city" Vegas, where the best chefs in the world are and the shopping is extraordinary. There are great resorts, wonderful shows and activities for all ages.

What's home life like?

What brings me the most pleasure beyond music is being a mom. Today we had lunch, then drive the golf cart, which was a short trip because it was 108 degrees outside. We fed the ducks at a lake near where we live. Then we skipped rocks in the water. That's a big deal..boys love to throw. We came back and swam in the pool and made bubbles for the dog to chase. Before I left for work, I put them to bed. I love just looking at them sleeping. For me, it's all about the simple pleasures in life, to be able to feed the ducks, throw rocks in the lake, and tuck my kids in. I don't need more than that.

I kind of have to laugh about her comment on Vegas (the show) not sure about what changes she is talking about. Maybe things are about to change?

I have a question. Are there any tangos in Celines repertoire? I tried but couldn't think any.

if there isn't, there should be some.

Unfortunately not, the closest she got to that style was with "Carmen", but that's an "Habanera".

You like tangos? I've also dreamed her voice to sing a tango someday, and if she ever wants to record a concept album in spanish, she should definetly try the tango genre. I think I would die if I ever listen her singing songs like "A Media Luz", "Caminito" or "Sombras Nada Más". Here's an example of the last one, in the voice of one of the greatest singers that Spain has given, Rocío Dúrcal  Imagine this in Céline's voice

I do like tangos. And Celines voive would suit tangos well 'cause she's got passion and drama in her voice. I don't really know spanish tangos. Sombras nada mas sounds nice. We have here in Finland own tangos and translation of foreign tangos.

Spanish album would be the concept to give tangos to the world.

During the first Sans Attendre special, Celine sang Mille Apres Mille with Fred Pellerin. Does anyone know why? Was it explained in a French behind the scenes video? I love the song and wondered why it wasn't on the album, and where did it come from?

In the past, there used to be one that I really loved, as it was Christmasy. It was called Frosty, and I kept it year-long. :xmas:

I remember Frosty!

I remember Frosty

Seems a lifetime ago

A snowman on Sunset Boulevard

What a movie it made

There were days in the snow

That have stayed forever cold

Nights when hail was unstoppable

We thought we were gonna die!

There were moments in that lifetime

That my heart still replays

There were snowflakes, there was sleet and icy rain

There are moments I think I'm freezing the same way

When I remember Frosty

Probably the owner of the gym is Spanish, as it went to number one here.

But it was a Top 10 single in the UK, Tim. But it's great when you're at a place where you wouldn't expect them to be playing Celine and then you listen to her and go :w00t:. Like the other night at around 1:00 am I went to a supermarket far away from home and they played "J'attendais".

Yes I know it was a top 10 single here, but it's never played on the radio, and I don't consider it a song many people know/remember. It was amazing to hear it though!
