There's a video here of Marc Dupre talking about Rene -- he's apparently telling a very funny story, but can anyone understand exactly what he's saying? I know he said Rene is very generous, and the interviewer asked if Rene had ever given them a bizarre gift, and he said yes and told a funny story about Schwartz's deli, but I couldn't understand what it was about!

he says that René is very generous, sometimes too much. René is passionnate...For example when he bought Schwartz( the Deli in Montreal), Marc said that her wife (René's daughter) told to him, we are going to Schwartz, Marc couldn't believe it, René and Céline are here in Montreal and we are going to Schwartz? Anne-marie told him, he surely wants to announce us something.....They go, and he explains that they didn't eat in the restaurant because it is so little, the ate in the backstore, where they cook the fries, just to go to their chairs, they were sliding in grease( he mimes it) so this it , but everybody is in a costume, they make the order. After René make them an incredible speech about how important Schwartz was to him, since he was young, explained that he prefers fat meat to lean, that was funny....anyway, in the end, the gift he gaves us was 500$ coupon for Schwartz, but at home Marc said they are five, so they have 2500$ worth of coupons....(laugh) Marc: it is not over....and with that comes a bag with 5 Schwartz spices jar, we are five, so 25 Schwartz spices jar.... Marc: me in my life , a spice jar can substain for at least three years, if we want to spend this, we will have to put them in our cereal in the morning...then René comes to me and say: If you want more coupons, call me. He then say: i love it Schwartz, i've gone often and spent about 300$, and just between us, when i say i'm not at ease with some things pin relation to René and Celine...Imagine me going to Schwartz with a bunch of people, brandishing my coupons. II pay and i give a big tip....

Basically Redfoo is saying Celine is similar to Dami Im, one of the favourites for The X Factor Australia this year. He states that Dami is vocally good, but doesn't convey her personality much when she sings. Celine is as amazing as always of course, but do you feel that her not having a "big personality" makes her not relevant in today's music world?

I would tell him: people don't buy Celine Dion records because of her personality. They buy her records because they LOVE her voice. :)

There are so many strong songs, they deserve some time to shine again! Just listened to Seul un Oiseau Blanc... such strong vocals and melody! common celine!!!!!!!!

 

Yes, the end of Seul Un Oiseau Blanc is out of this world! :blush:

On a new interview with Lisa Petrillo for CBS4 News, Andrea Bocelli says some things about Celine:

 

He’s a pop star too, winning a Grammy with Celine Dion for the song “The Prayer”. His song “Time To Say Goodbye” broke records in Europe and the U.S.

 

“So the American audiences have seen you with Celine and some of the best singers. Is that a fun time for you to be on stage with them as well as the opera singers?” Petrillo asked.

 

“I often say that my heart is in opera music, but a beautiful voice is a beautiful voice. However, so for me it has been a big privilege to sing with Celine for example, because her voice, is really like an instrument,” said Bocelli.

Noise pop/alternative duo Sleigh Bells sat down with Entertainment Weekly's Ray Rahman for an interview about their newly released album, and guitarist Derek Miller said something about Celine:

 

The song people might not expect me to love

 

DM: I will say that I’m an unironic fan of artists like Celine Dion. Like, “All By Myself”—that’s an incredible song. Any of her big hits, they move me in a way that’s very real and unironic. I’ve heard them my whole life, and I can appreciate them on many different levels.

 

Oh my goodness, I love this. Sleigh Bells is so far from Céline's musical style, so it's awesome to think that she has influenced someone in that band, and especially awesome that he is honest about how much her music resonates with him.

He is saying Dani lacks personality but will sell records primarily due to her voice, similar to Celine (who also sells primarily due to her voice). He's not necessarily saying Celine has no personality

 

She is parodied and ridiculed for having a huge and crazy personality..

This was probably mentioned before, but on one i-carly episode Sam's mom was thrown in jail in Vegas because she went to a Celine concert and thought she was lip-synching, so she jumped on stage and pulled Celine's extensions out. :mdr:

Who else in this forum became a celine dion fan after watching titanic/hearing mhwgo back 1997???!!

 

The first time i heard mhwgo 16years ago , i became a fan instantly.

I became a fan in 1991, just when I Heard WDMHBN on American Top 40 with Shadoe Stevens. I was really mesmerized with her voice. Now I became a SUPER FAN in 1992 after "Celine Dion". I even wrote an essay for college entitled "Celine Dion: The World's Next Superstar". I hope I'll get it back from my country someday, so I can share it. :P

I became a fan with Unison and that led me to her French stuff! LOL! So Unison was the gateway album! :giggle:
