stevo Posted April 28, 2019 at 07:15 AM Posted April 28, 2019 at 07:15 AM I don’t know why but the thought of her and Babs duetting or performing this song doesn’t excite me at all. I know the song is one of her most important oldies but just doesn’t get my juices going. Nor does Barbrella 2 Quote

Dion2000 Posted April 28, 2019 at 10:23 AM Author Posted April 28, 2019 at 10:23 AM In regards to the whole will there/won’t there “Tell Him” discussion...I’m actually wondering whether or not Celine could sing it today. She lipped it back in the day during the LTAL tour so why do we think she could sing it live 20 years later? My only thought is that, if she were to appear at Bab’s concert, it would be the only song she’d have to sing that day rather than attempt it during a 2 to 2 1/2 hour show of her own. I feel that for the LTAL tour it was more due to her huge schedule. I mean back then she was lipping stuff like DOL even in its lowered key and yet she attempted it in 2011 no problem 3 Quote

I mean back then she was lipping stuff like DOL even in its lowered key and yet she attempted it in 2011 no problemeven treat her like a lady was also lipped, and in 2017 (+2012 jamaica with somehow live adlibs) it was fully live, misled too, lipped in the 90´s, live in 2017...I think she could sing tell him, but maybe with a semitone or full tone lowered...,one has to think of Streisand´s age and vocal condition too. But I think it would be epic, even it would be lowered, just two legends nailing a legendary song Edited April 28, 2019 at 11:23 AM by ordinary fan 1 Quote

couldawouldashoulda Posted May 5, 2019 at 02:08 PM Posted May 5, 2019 at 02:08 PM Does anyone who normally attends this festival know when we’re likely to have more support acts announced? Florence and the Machine have a bunch of other acts already and Celine and Babs only have 2. Quote
Dion2000 Posted May 5, 2019 at 03:01 PM Author Posted May 5, 2019 at 03:01 PM I presume they only need 2. Their set ups may differ in that their acts may not begin to 4 or 5 PM rather than all day 1 Quote

Well yes of course, but I remember reading that the priority gates for Celine didnt open until 2pm, later than most. So that would explain the lack of guests if each support set is 30 minutes and has like hour long breaks in between Quote

Tick tock, tick tock, people! Well yes of course, but I remember reading that the priority gates for Celine didnt open until 2pm, later than most. So that would explain the lack of guests if each support set is 30 minutes and has like hour long breaks in between I have the BST app which shows the lineup for last summer. Other artists didn’t begin until 2:30pm and they have 7-11 different acts across three stages so I’m expecting, with the main artist not going on until 8 or 8:30, that definitely leaves time for at least 3 support acts on the main stage, let alone the other two! I wonder if they’re having difficulty finding artists? Are they being super choosy about who to invite? There’s only 2 months left to go. 1 Quote
CSCfan Posted May 5, 2019 at 07:51 PM Posted May 5, 2019 at 07:51 PM Could be anything really... they could still be sorting out stuff with someone big. Or they just have everything timed and waiting for certain moments. In Dan Wootton's interview, Céline mentioned having "4 or 5 guests" (while looking to her team), so they'll probably announce at least 1 more guest soon.. 1 Quote »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» MATHIAS ««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzPrxI0AIDY

Dancing_Queen Posted May 10, 2019 at 04:26 AM Posted May 10, 2019 at 04:26 AM Steps was pretty big in (western?) Europe for a year or two, then they disappeared. The came out around the time when I really started getting into music ('97-'98). They had this Abba vibe going and I loved them. Can still name all the members (filed away in the 'useless music trivia from the late nineties cabinet' of my brain 😂). 'Last thing on my mind' was their biggest hit and is still played by radio stations on a near daily basis. Always thought Claire was the most talented singer from the group. By the way, when I told my dad that Claire was doing BST, he completely shocked me by knowing her entire backstory and what she's been up to since Steps. So for a band that basically had 2 hits, they are pretty well-known. 😂 2 Quote

I've never heard of them until Claire came up as an opener for Celine, but that's what the bulk of the above interview is about. So, I also had never heard of Steps. Or Claire. Because she’s opening for Celine, I bought her solo CD that was released a few months ago and I freakin’ love it. There’s not a song on the album that I don’t like - it’s very Colour of My Love/Falling Into You Celine era. Researching further, I saw that in her concerts she sings a couple of stripped down versions of Steps hits so I bought those as well. I have now become OBSESSED with Steps. It’s super cheesy bubblegum pop like ABBA or Ace of Base. A genre of music that I call “I’m devastated but I’m DANCIN’!” I feel a little embarrassed about this - totally a guilty pleasure. But I mean, I have watched their reality TV show where the got band back together in 2012. I’ve watched concerts on YouTube. I have yet to buy their 2017 CD - am holding myself back and saving something for later. They definitely had more than 2 hits (as someone else mentioned above) - they had a string of, I believe, 10 consecutive top 10 hits in the UK. Look them up on wikipedia. Sorry for the slightly off-topic. It *is* about the BST concert, just not Celine. I, for one, can’t wait to hear Claire sing stuff from her solo album and, if she in any way brings out Steps with her for a song or two, I’m afraid that I’m going to lose my s*** like I’m a teenager. 1 Quote
