Like Ive said before, I think were the only ones worried about numbers and charts.

 

Celine and her team seem perfectly content.

 

Celines put in the hard work and now she just accepts things for what they are.

 

Still hoping she has more big career moments - a Bond song, the documentary, awards, maybe a new book, etc. - and then those moments help give her streaming numbers a big boost.

Ageism in US hits harder than any where else, so it’s a big part of it. I wouldn’t say Vegas, though. After all, she sold out those concerts full of people from everywhere in America, and she even sold out tours after.

 

There is probably more than one reason to it but, IMO, Celine’s break on 1999 came in the worst time possible, commercially speaking. The scenario in pop music was changing a lot, big ballads with big vocals were fading out, and artists were getting pushed to sing in a “baby voice” and into hyper-sexualization.

 

Celine came back years later, with a marketing surrounding around being a mom and a wife, and singing about that. Although ANDHC is undeniably a success, in US the results were lower than expected for someone who was charting topping just a few years later. After that, despite being only in her early 30’s, Celine was rise to that ‘icon level’, sharing shelves with artists like Elton John. Artists that people love, but only care for the old hits, never interested on what is new. They tried change things with OH, but it was too late. She was an old artist with only 34yo.

 

That’s why Celine always sells tour, people love her as an Icon, but they want to hear only her old hits. Every big artist, if they’re lucky, hits that same spot one day. It’s just that Celine was put into that place way too early (in US, at least).
