More than 3 times as many streams as Mariah's Sugar Sweet which was released the same day. There's also a remix on Instagram of "A New Day Has Come" by a virtually unknown Soundcloud DJ (as I understand it anyway) that got over 300k likes and as usual people are begging for it to be on streaming. I always thought Celine could have hits like that with good remixes!! She could have had way better remixes over the years. For example, the Steve Aioki one from years ago never did anything for me really... Would be cool to hear some of her early English albums have a remix treatment. Someone needs to do that! 1 Quote

Which explains why Celine has had so many updated UK certifications. Other major music markets do not update certifications automatically. The label needs to apply. For example, to have RIAA update certifications record labels or rights holders need to apply, which explains why Celine is massively under-certified in the US. This is really unfortunate to see, as more than 20m records would be added to her total. The current arrangements also explain why Mariah's certifications in the United States stand at 75m albums and 85m singles. Because she applies for them. With Celine hopefully coming back in 2026, I really wish someone from her team looks into this issue! Edited February 15, 2026 at 05:48 PM by LukeD 1 Quote

She didn’t have any new certifications in the U.S. from 2010 to 2021 in the U.S. And they only updated for the FIY, LTAL, and TSAT albums. She definitely needs a lot updated by now. I wish all certifications were automatic and you could see in real time who the most popular artists of all time are. Edited February 15, 2026 at 05:49 PM by TommKat22 2 Quote Tommy

Shouldn’t there be dedicated and designated people within SONY music to make sure their artists are certified accurately? It’s just a lazy thing, she isn’t a new and upcoming artist this is the legendary Celine Dion and the team doesn’t really feel legendary, the energy doesn’t match. 1 Quote
isurrender Posted February 16, 2026 at 06:43 PM Posted February 16, 2026 at 06:43 PM TT is indeed a mystery to me. I read as well that the way sales were counted back then was questioned. However, to me, there's no way that it hasn't reached 2x platinum by now whatever the way they finally chose... And on the other hand, how can BYLM be 2x Platinum ? More than half of the total sales ( 1,200,000) came from streaming... Fair enough, BYLM streams are way higher than TT but the physical sales of TT could fill the gap... IDAN went silver in July 2024 in the UK for 200.000 sales. It was not even a single in the UK and has less streams than TT... So in my opinion, TT has at the very least 200.000 sales on top of what she sold in 1994/1995... I don't know if it's a mistake, if a new TT certification is around the corner or they simply don't certify the singles from that period with a fuzzy sales counting way...? Quote
