Let's talk about I Love You

 

On YoutubeMusic the song has 348 million streams

On Celine official video channel on Youtube (VEVO) the song has 52 million

(here we see the VEVO label on audio)

On Youtube (general) the auto-generated audio has 37 million

When I calculate the total stream numbers for each song, I consider these official items (official video, official audio, auto-generated audio, and YouTube Music number).

 

But YouTube allows other channels to use the music to make lyric videos, videos with translations, etc. And in these cases, each song is associated with the official music of each artist so that the artist and composers receive royalties.

Here's an unofficial lyric video with over 129 million views

These views won't be included in Celine Dion's official VEVO channel numbers because the video wasn't posted on her channel.

But if you click on the lyric video description, you'll see that it's associated with the song "I Love You" from Celine Dion's album "Falling Into You".

As a result, record labels stopped deleting fan-made videos on YouTube.

Now they are paid based on the number of streams and consider those numbers in the unit sales of each song.
