I think the lack of airplay here in the US may have something to do with the season. It’s just not a love songs time of year with summer coming. Radios play what people want to hear which is more upbeat, danceable songs.

I see “Ashes” as a breakup song. “Can beauty come out of ashes” ... I see that as her saying maybe we can find beauty out of this heartbreak, like it’s mwant to say it’s a good thing for them to end things.... hmmm I don’t know that’s how I picture the song personally.

Ashes is a metaphorical song. The breakup is the Fire, the remains are ashes. Is there anything that can come back from a relationship being destroyed? That's how I see the song.
