Why, despite what anyone else in the media / show producers may have said, did anyone think she would be there after what Celine herself said?

Fully agree. It would have made more sense to have the tribute of old Swiss contestants in the semi-finale and the Celine-message and the following Ne partez pas sans moi-tribute in the finale.

 

Actually, I found the Tuesday semi-finale much better than tonight’s show. (Not the acts but everything around it.)

I’m actually so sad she hasn’t appeared- not upset at her…but sad. That we were obviously led along. I was sure when the actual presenters of the BBC coverage were saying she’d be appearing on the cube in the stadium…like did she pull out last minute? I find that hard to believe, and if she did, that’s very, very worrying.

Let’s not be disappointed with Celine, it’s clear she was never going to be there. The organisers obviously used her name to draw in viewers. Even the commentators thought she’d be there so someone must have planted the seed

Well, it was never confirmed at all, and I don't begrudge promoters from using the hype to promote - that's what they're supposed to do!

 

That said, I did think she'd show up, but I find the whole situation comical - it's just another case of fans reading too much into everything and inventing realities. We all suffer from it on occasion, and it's nothing to get worked up over. I don't get all the wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Depends where you were watching. Commentary in the UK kept mentioning her coming on. Sounds like even the media who were there were led on.

That’s the best part… but her team should’ve denied it once the media picked up…out of fear that people assume it’s her health.

She/her management is to blame. They should have denied the rumours of the organizers, share the video on Tuesday on her socials and wish everybody luck saying she won't be there AT ALL. This all media craze and organizers' comments even today have hurt nobody but us. And they should have said something to take care of us, fans.
