It is crass and disrespectful! Please stop it! Especially since he has passed and how it affected Celine. How do you think she would feel if by chance she read those comments. And you calling their relationship suspect is being generous??What are you? The moral compass for relationships? You may feel however you want about their relationship, it's not relevant, but your derogatory remarks about Rene are indecent. Have some respect please.

That's nice, but the comment wasn't made as a general sentiment, it was made specifically on a post about her having some harmless fun.

 

I was sad when Rene died, largely for Celine and her kids. But the fact is their relationship was suspect at BEST. He was an elderly man who micromanaged every aspect of her life until his death (not even going to get into the possible grooming here) and then he literally assigned another elderly man to take over once he passed. So it's incredibly condescending and gross for someone to mention those 2 male figures in a post about her going out as if she is a little girl who has to be parented.

Celine was wearing a yellow dress then René thought it was inappropriate (certainly because of the plunging neckline) and he told her to change her dress and wear the blue dress instead. I remember watching this on TV back then and I was like

 

Now she's clearly enjoying herself, doing what she wants to do, wearing the clothes she wants to wear and most importantly not having her every move monitored.

If she felt inadequate she wouldnt be telling on live tv. She didn't think anything of it. It was just an adoring partner not preferring this or that. It could've been the color clashed with the lighting for all we know. As her personal manager its his job to correct these things or at least point them out. she was only saying why she was late and excusing herself. First of all if you observe the color of the first dress (it`s a light color) that doesn`t look very good on camera, the second dress was a dark color, that looks much better. Now an interview that really talks about this topic of her every move being directed and monitored is `Michael Jasmin la 1000 eme avec Celine et Rene. It`s a long interview in which it is made very clear that in the begining yes Rene did call the shots because she was young and inexperienced. As time passed however she began to be more and more in charge. In her biography she also talks about this subject. She just knew that Rene always had her back, as she has said recently in concert, she lost her husband, the man she could trust and her best friend. He knew that after he passed she would be going through a difficult moment, and that is why Aldo was called on. He had worked with them for a very long time. I am sure Rene just wanted her to feel supported and helped. If you also watch 3 boys and a new show you will see that Celine has a strong personality not easily dominated. Of course, as I said before , just my opinion.

Now going back to the topic so first full English show tomorrow, I wonder if anything will change?

Agreed. Everything you said was correct. Rene was a kind and generous man and had he not been there in her early years of her career, she wouldn't be the world-famous popular and renown singer she is today.

He planned everything perfectly and diligently. From landing her all the Hollywood movie theme songs, from Sleepless in Seattle, Beauty and Beast, Up close and personal, MHWGO, The Prayer, Then you look at me . Plus singing with Barbara Streisand, Bee Gees, Luciano Pavoratti, and arranging the Manager of the Beatles to produce a song for her. Rene deserves full credit and I for one am not going to stand by and let someone slander his name.

did i say that it was an assumption, but i can,t help thinking what i think.. i'm not tryin g to fit it under my views . I know she has worn way more revealing clothes (I can think of the see through black dress at the Grammy in 1993) but oddly enough René thought that the dress Celine wore at the Oscars back in early 1997 would ternish her career just because of the plugging neckline (we all know she ended up wearing that dress anyway and it didn't affect her career negatively at all).

I very highly doubt they're going to keep La Ballet outside of Francophone audiences. I fear many of you are going to be horribly disappointed. That said, although I cannot see it, I would like to hope they find a suitable English song to have a routine like this to. Maybe like Coulda woulda Shoulda, or Did You Give Enough Love, or If Love Is Out The Question or Unison or Love By Another Name etc. There are plenty of songs that could work well.
