So basically the newest things at her Boutique include the new show program which contains photos from the 2015 show program book mixed with pics from the 1,000th show as well as her January performances. All new magnets which feature her logo for her upcoming tour and 2016 photo shoot. New postcard which is the Celine Show Bilboard picture, new concert tees which have the updated song list from 2017 shows on the back. Comes in black and white. A poster, new coffee mugs. New keychains!! Other than that it's the same!!!

I recently attended the Wednesday, April 5th show and I just wanted to contribute my thoughts.

 

Like I said before, it was a WONDERFUL show. Celine really amazes with her consistency. She truly was BORN TO DO THIS. She is such a gracious performer and she tries SO hard to be present each and every night. I cannot imagine performing as often as she does and she always DELIVERS. When I see other artists perform -- I am rarely impressed with their abilities to make a crowd have a memorable, awesome time. Celine is such a good person and one of the most talented people alive today --- so people always get their money's worth when they see her perform.

 

My favorite thing about seeing Celine live is the energy in the room for people who have never seen her before. There's something about being in the same room as an Icon like Celine that feels SO special.

 

I've seen the "new" Vegas show a handful of times now. I saw the premiere back in 2011. Then I saw a couple performances in November 2015. And then I saw it the other night. There are things I've liked about each manifestation but I must admit that the current one is my least favorite (even though it's still a fabulous show!) It needs just a little sprucing up. The best part of this current show, by far, is the opportunity for the fans to rush down to the stage and be so close to Celine for the fun, upbeat songs. It's SO AMAZING and they should definitely keep that in as they make more changes. I was sad that she wasn't going to walk down the aisle anymore but this certainly made up for it!!

 

I cannot imagine soldiering forward with a mega-career like Celine has after the tremendous loss she suffered. She didn't just lose the love of her life -- she lost the other half of her career when Rene passed away. So the fact that Celine resumed performing immediately speaks to her strength and character.

 

Some ideas for the Vegas show:

 

First of all, why don't they change the setlist more frequently? Not for the general public -- because they are, indeed, getting a fabulous show. But for Celine herself? Wouldn't SHE want to keep things fresh and fun? I understand they can't add in new songs every night -- but certainly some changes per YEAR. Or per RUN of the Vegas show??

 

Other ideas:

 

Back during A NEW DAY, I LOVED it when the giant mirror was projected onstage during pre-show. And the camera man would zoom into various audience members and everyone would be laughing and having fun. It felt like a special pre-show experience. Hyping up the audience and getting everyone in a great mood! Then that glass shatters and the staircase appeared and the show had a fabulously dramatic beginning and a DIVA'S entrance.

 

It'd be nice if they came up with a more special pre-show experience for the current show than just people walking in and taking their seats in silence. It's a little sleepy.

 

The video that introduces the show is not very good. The TAKING CHANCES world tour video was incredible! It was so well done. This video that leads into the Vegas show feels like an amateur put it together. The text/font they use looks CHEAP. And that cheapens the entire intro of the show. I like the idea of a video because it reminds people they're about to see an ICON and can give some Vegas/career highlights BUT they either need to up the quality of the video or ditch it.

 

The grand entrance of the curtain rising is enough of a grand entrance all by itself ---- so either make the video looks polished and professional or ditch it! There's no excuse for it to look like crap.

 

I love I SURRENDER. It's a great opener. But I also think starting the show with the complete version of THE POWER OF LOVE would be powerful. Picture it. The curtain opens with "The whispers in the morning....." Then the curtain could drop with the first "Cause I'm your ladyyyyyyy..." and that's an instantly recognizable Celine Dion classic.

 

The night I saw Celine recently, she seemed a bit sad. She made jokes but she just seemed to really miss Rene and be a bit less focused. I know her mood changes from night to night. And she even seemed to have genuine moments of fun when I saw her. But, overall, she was definitely less cheerful than I'm used to seeing her.

 

Celine's banter can be a lot of fun in the show. It's the least rehearsed stuff. BUT I think she could make her banter more career focused. She should talk about new projects, traveling to Paris, working on THE VOICE, recording new music, her upcoming tour, the new Beauty and the Beast song, etc. Some of her banter is so out of the blue, it's a bit strange! And I love kooky Celine. But she could certainly talk more about the things the audience would LOVE to hear about.

 

I think she should add in some more songs from her own albums. She should certainly have a little speech about her mega-international career - then sing at least one of her FRENCH hits.

 

The whole stools coming in / intimate part of the show isn't working for me. The night I saw her, she took FOREVER to start singing. She said "we only chose three songs of my many, many songs" over and over again. She talked for so long, that she easily could've sung a medley containing a DOZEN songs from her career instead of talking. I like the idea of this intimate section but the pace of the songs and the lights being up on the audience just doesn't feel right. She has the audience stand during this part and it feels forced. It feels like we're singing at an old folks home because it feels like she's singing in slow motion.

 

I think they could EASILY fix this section of the show. Celine should sing a medley of hits -- speed up the tempo -- and keep the lights low/more concert-y on the audience. If they up the tempo, it would make a huge difference and add FUN ENERGY that's necessary for this part of the show.

 

She needs to change up the costumes. I have loved the dresses but they' been mostly the same since 2011. Let's change them ALL. It's time.

 

Also...

 

She needs at least one more costume change. I don't mind THE SHOW MUST GO ON being the big finale but she should at least change her dress. Right now, she exits the stage after saying "goodnight!!!" -- then she comes back in the exact same green dress and it's a little anti-climactic.

 

I think MY HEART WILL GO ON should come later in the show. I understand it shouldn't be the last song -- but right now it's a bit too early and you don't get as much of the chills-factor because it kind of sneaks up on you.

 

A couple years ago, I absolutely adored OVER THE RAINBOW closing out the show. There's something about ending the show with a simple tune that showcases Celine's stunning tone -- and it continues ringing in your ears as you exit -- that just feels special. I understand that, given Celine's personal circumstances, she likes ending with The Show Must Go On for right now. But bringing in another OVER THE RAINBOW / WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD kind of song would just be the icing on the cake.

 

 

Again, I think the Vegas show is solid. But they could easily make some changes that would make us hardcore fans happy.

 

SO excited for the upcoming summer tour. I can't wait to hear some English songs sung live again that we haven't heard in a while!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank god for iphones! We get so much footage! I wish we had more footage from A New Day and other Celine concerts! (Can you imagine all the special moments that weren't captured???)

I still don't get the Prince tribute section, or the choice of QCB. Now she's stuck doing that til the end I guess. I agree with you about the medley section also. although I am also afraid that for the sake of not having to practice too much, the setlist will be the Vegas setlist..very comfortable. For the French concert last year the setlist was mostly French , so enough room for less known songs. But for this English tour... I really really hope she is gonna surprise us.

Either way I'm happy because I have had my Celine moments and I'm sure they will happen again :-) if I get bummed then I ruin the experience!!! I'm super excited I'm the center front orchestra in row 4 on the aisle where Élise used to walk up!!!!
