After the first listens of SA I said that PAMP, Attendre, LMEL, JNPBD and SJNRDT were songs that would follow me. I still listen to them very often, so I was right.

Right now I can tell the same thing about EUS and ALPHB which I consider true gems. And as a matter of fact ALPHB has touched me more than EUS.

Her tone is magical in ALPHB

If I am not mistaken, this is the song that won the vote, the fan vote, last November.

I now understand what they are talking about when they say Celine takes the songs to the nex level. The song did NOT sound that good in the demo.

I wish this song would go on forever. When I listen, I don't want it to end. I want another verse that'll lead to another chours.

I am completely taken by this tune. To me this is her best French work since PQTME.... and that says a lot.

Bravo!!!

Can't stop listening. Hauntingly beautiful.

Can't stop listening from where? From a bootleg? Has the song been released?

I heard this live for the first time at her concert in Montreal on July 31 and I think it was one of the most beautiful songs she's ever recorded. I almost cried. lol. Hearing it live was .....I can't even put words to it.

Anyone going to the shows and staying behind at the end... Can you try and record the studio version for us to listen to? Please

Everything is a matter of taste, but in my opinion, the song is the highlight of her recent shows. The simplicity of its performance is wonderful.

And yes, the song À la plus haute branche is about suicide by hanging.

It is not about suicide by hanging! Do you know anyone who would hang themselves from the highest branch of a tree? It is always one of the lowest ones that is used. :P

The song is poetically written and the ''highest branch'' is just a metaphor.

I know that mister Smarty Pants. I know that the tree is a metaphore. Do you really know what a metaphore is? And yes, the lyrics of the song are a metaphore of suicide by hanging. The first lines are very clear. But not for you obviously. Someone who find a loved one hanging (not necessary in a tree). The corpse swinging at the end of the rope, etc,The chairs in the latter part of the song have double sense. To sit for the Christmas holidays and for the suicide. That's why those chairs make a discomfort in the end of the song. The emptiness of the chair without him(her) and the fact of reminding the way he(she) passed.

ps: if your intention is to reply again with condescension, mockery and contempt i won't play your game. I have my view and you don't have to put my down because you do not agree with me ;)

I have taken literature classes for 6 years and at age 17 I scored 19.1/20 in the national exams, so please avoid sarcasm. :flowers:

You are taking the text literally and then call it a metaphor. If the word ''hang'' is used to talk about ''hanging'' then this is NOT a metaphor.

Ιt is just a literal way of describing the matter.

i think they used : à la plus haute branche as a reminder of the beginning of the song who is : à la claire fontaine...the same lenght . Would it have been just a : branche , not la plus haute , not a fit, and la plus basse , the lowest , it would not have sound right.

Of course this song is about suicide by hanging...

That's why in a way she needs to "forgive him"...

Actually "pendu" in french literally means "hanged".

It's very sad but I like the way one can treat such a horrid subjet in such a poetic way.

I listened to the song this morning for the first time and jezz that was so sad... it reminded me of that horrible story of that boy who went missing for months in my hometown...

This happened like 10 years ago. He went missing in the forest during autumn. The community spent days searching for the kid looking in rivers, through bushes... They didn't find him. The winter passed by, but he was no where to be found... When spring arrived, his sister went back in the forest, but instead of looking down through the melting snow and dead leaves, she decided to lift her eyes to the sky and within just few hours, there he was: pendu à la plus haute branche...

This song is just heavenly. Best thing on the album, alongside EUS.
