I would not take the context so literally. I am sure it is just metaphor. The only phrase that hints suicide is ''un jour je te pardonnerais''. I was wondering why the songwriter would say ''one day I will forgive you'' and now it makes sense to me. A friend of mine tried to commit suicide years ago and a small part of me was angry. I think it is a normal emotion in such heartbreaking situations.

 

The way I concieve the ''highest branch'' is like the final moments of someone on Earth. Like when life reaches its peak.
