The René Angélil legacy

I bet she'll stay for about the whole time. This lady is amazing and let's not forget as painful as it is, Celine probably wants to stay not only for the public but also for herself. This is probably he first time she has seen Rene again since the day he passed, it won't be easy leaving that church tonight and especially tommorow for the last time before the casket is closed. :(

Do we know, if the first people had been relatives and friends or are they all mingled up with fans?

I have same feeling about it, and when they announced that she will stay for about 30 minutes it was almost clear that she will stay as long as she will be able to, physically

OMG, I'm so sad...

but I think she shouldn't stay too long, she will get sick! It's very cold there and she is not wearing very warm clothes....

Today she has done something that is beyond words, beyond success, beyond anything, letting ordinary people speak to her, hug her, consolate her, it's just overwhelming...

But you can tell that she is also taking it harder now with the public than with the official people...

I know she always says she's an open book but this amount of time spent receiving the fans is beyond belief, more than expected. Incredible strength, poise and dignity. . .

That's the first person I've seen ask for an autograph, however I've also seen a couple walk away without offering condolences to Patrick and JP

So sad :( I've just finished work then my French evening course and just watched a little live before my boyfriend comes over but I wish I could watch it all and share more feelings here with you all about it :*(

My heart breaks for her and her family, her eyes are full of tears :*( my admiration for her has increased beyond anything if that's possible, such a beautiful person.

I hope I did not see someone ask her for an autograph!!! I was so shocked

You could tell the lady wanted to ask for a autograph and not at the same time because she kept taking the green pen in and out of her coat pocket. So she kmew it was wrong and still asked :( I hope Michel told her where to stick the pen. I'm sorry that really angers me. Everyone in the world wants Celine's autograph but not here for gods sake . That last woman in the black shiny puffy coat was so sweet. She took time to speak with Patrick and JP.

This made me sad as well, and Céline is brave for staying so long.

I said to my husband that I could never do what Céline has done, in the same place as where we got married.

Just thinking that 21 years ago in that exact church, she was the happiest woman in the world, living a dream come true..

one of her best days ever.. full of happiness...

And now seeing this... just break my heart... seeing Rene, by her side, but in a whole different meaning...

It's a beautiful thing Celine has done today, allowing the public to offer their condolences. I've seen bits and pieces, and I even said my own thoughts while watching. I figured now was the time, though no one could hear. I was disappointed to see the woman ask for Celine's autograph. Today she is not a famous singer. She's a wife mourning the loss of her husband and the father of her three sons. I'm just glad no one has asked to take a picture with her.

It's very sad to watch this.

But it's also a testament to what a strong and incredible and classy woman Celine Dion is. Reading her words about how her career is Rene's masterpiece and how she has no intention to leave his work unfinished -- so beautiful and powerful. Her career has touched us all.

This just takes me back to all of the many personal experiences I've had in my own life when it comes to Celine's career. Going with my mom to see her for the very first time in Nashville and the butterflies I got in my stomach when I saw her name on the marquee -- I will never forget that feeling. Going to see her in Vegas for the very first time. Listening to the Celine Dion and The Colour of My Love albums in the mornings with my siblings as we got ready for school. Being mesmerized by the Falling Into You album when it was first released, etc. etc. etc. All of these experiences happened because of Rene's belief in the abilities of this woman.

I got to meet Rene briefly in Las Vegas at the Premiere in March 2011. Such a kind man. I know that he will live on forever through the work he created with Celine -- and the work Celine will continue to create in the years to come. But most importantly he will live on through his children and in the memories of Celine and all of his family.

Watching Celine today makes me more proud than ever to be her fan. I know we all feel this way.
