If the family allow the public to be present on the streets of Montreal during the funeral, I feel I need to be there to pay my respects. This man gave me the single biggest joy in my life, and I have to be there to thank him for that. I'm sure we can discuss once more details are announced, but if anyone else has plans to head to Montreal to pay their respects do let me know.

According to Claudette Dion, it's just a matter of days or hours until the death of brother Daniel Dion. He 59 years old and suffering from his third cancer. Maman Dion has arrived in Montreal.

Didn't know about Celine's brother, so sad. Her father died of cancer too, I just hope this horrible illness doesn't affect the family anymore, because in many cases the causes are genetic, a bit afraid for Celine now

Just got off work 20 minutes ago and it's starting to sink in but this is really happening . I cried the entire way home. 😭

Oh dear, having to deal with the loss of a family friend late last year, now this? I am lost for words, if I could sing I would have sang "my heart will go on".

It is a while since I have been around, but I wanted to express how sad I am to learn of Rene's death. A lot of us gave him a hard time over the years for the choices he made or when we didn't think he did something as well as he should have. But he brought Celine to the world and for that, we owe him so much.

 

And aside from the amazing successes in the business world, he was a fantastic father by all accounts and the one true love of Celine's life. It really won't be the same without him.

 

Thanks, Rene, for everything. I imagine you achieved more than even you hoped and dreamed of.

What the hell is going on? I came on here for Rene to find out Daniel has cancer?!?

 

Celine has a strong core but I feel she will need her family and especially her boys to keep going on with a brave face. They've known for a long time this day was coming and planned accordingly but it's a nasty shock to us nonetheless. I was at work like many of you and didn't want to believe it.

My local news showed some beautiful footage of them this morning when Rene got his order of Canada a few summers ago. I'd never seen it before and all I can say is the way she always looked at him with so much love, I am going to miss that! I wish I could post it here but doesn't seem to be on their website.
