She signed a contract with Caesars Palace that' states Celine can't perform a full concert in any other venue in the United States. I wish she could I love for a mini US tour.

I thought I read somewhere that the contract restricted her from touring anywhere in North America. Maybe they let her play Canada, well Quebec, now since Rene's passing? I swear Rene said they had to get special permission for the 2013 Quebec dates?

I mean im really saying things bout the clothing coz people are bothered by stupid things like that.. C mon is that what celine is about? It feels like a new day 2003.. Can u imagine if they record and don't release coz of the outfit? This is stupid stuff.. For Me, my opinion.

Forget the outfit and enjoy the show. She liked it and it's pretty clear..

One outfit for the whole tour I think isn't the case but I don't care..

Just finished skimming through this topic. I swear there are more complaints about her outfit than conversation about the actual concert. Anyway, I haven't gotten to watch too many videos or listen to much because I just wanted to get caught up on the topic, but I have to say that Scott did a PHENOMENAL job with the arrangement for PQTME. Absolutely breathtaking!!

 

Couldn't agree more! I do prefer the arrangement he did for Sur Les Plaines a bit more... I just love the strong brass feature. In SLP the brass feature starts and runs through the last verse rather than starting in the second chorus and ending before the last verse like at Antwerp. "Je m'inventerai reigne..." is just such a big powerful line and I feel like the brass really compliments it well Either way, Scott's arrangements far surpass anything Mego did (sorry Mego, I still adore you and love your stage presence!)

This must be her grand return. 5 months after the passing of her husband and manager, René Angélil, Céline Dion returns to the stage for some time during a small tour in France & across the Atlantic. Céline will perform on 9 dates in Paris and she’s confident in Europe. She gives also her vision on life since the passing of René, the reason why she returns on stage and her vision about France after the attacks.

 

 

You have lost your husband, it’s been a few months now and you have returned to stage. How are things going?

 

This isn’t a show like other ones. This isn’t an album like the other albums. This is unique in the fact that it launches another way of singing without René with who I’ve sang whole my life. It’s a new way of being here without him. I’m in pain that he’s not here with me but I’m happy that he doesn’t have to suffer anymore. I’m blessed with all the support of the public.

 

Terror has hit France really hard during the month of November and a few days before you arrived in Paris 2 police officers were murdered. How do you feel that here in France?

 

I believe it’s a global problem. I think that the whole world suffered with your (after the attacks in November). The people are afraid, we all are scared. All over the world things are happening and unfortunately we must be aware of it, we must be smart. We can’t stop living, we need to stay positive, we all have to believe in our dreams. Is it in Orlando? Is it here? It’s everywhere. We can’t control what happened yesterday and we don’t know what will happen tomorrow but day after day you have to convince yourself that positive changes are happening and that the best is yet to come. We must meditate, pray and be confident that it will happen.

In Paris I feel the weight of what happened and I also feel that the people are still feeling it a lot. People are still afraid but we can’t avoid tomorrow because otherwise it’s not worth the trouble. I want to believe that people, companies and all of us will find a solution so everything will change. In English we say “the best is yet to come”.

 

This new show takes place in a particular context. Are you paying tribute to the victims?

 

I think the whole atmosphere of the show will be influenced by these events but I do not want to turn a knife in a wound. I want to be on stage to share the happiness of music and that helps a lot. I think, no matter which music people love, and there’s a lot of different music, that music can be very therapeutic. So without opening old wounds again we feel emotions through these sufferings, these fears but we also feel the joy. This is a show that will touch many emotions.

This isn’t a show that has been prepared for a long time. It was René who prepared this mini tour and insisted that I would go. There aren’t dancers, there aren’t special dresses but there will be a lot of emotions. I want to be here for the right reasons, to communicate and pass time with fans who were not only there with me but who had so much respect and shared the pain with me. I’m really touched by all the love here.

 

Your new single “Encore un soir” has a special meaning. In your future songs will they feature a melancholy side or will they be more a rock style like when you started?

 

The album was felt. It’s not an album that was sung. It’s the first time I sing without René or I even dare to choose songs without his blessing. It will be the first time that he will be on stage with me but in a different way and that’s a lot. The album art was the favourite photo of René from my last photoshoot and this is why we insisted that it would be on the album. I was a little afraid of my smile. I wondered if I didn’t smile to much but René told me “It’s not sad, it’s another life”.

However, I’m not going to cry on stage for 2 hours. I want to assure my audience, my fans and the people who love us. Of course I will mention the subject, I feel they need that since they talk about that with me. I’ll bring René on stage with me, we’ll talk about it, we’ll sing and there will be times when we return to resume his songs.

 

The new album will also mark the return of the person who wrote your greatest songs, Jean-Jacques Goldman. How did that work out?

 

Jean-Jacques did hesitate before he agreed to say yes or no. He wrote everything for me and it was me who called him at a time when René had difficult days. I broke down in tears and said “Honestly, I don’t cry that much, please forgive me, but I’m happy to talk with you”. We are having a difficult time. He said he had everything written for me and we sand together, we talked about the rain, we talked about the good weather and we said everything. And yes, it’s true, we all sang together.

All the songs that we made together we won’t repeat. To convince him I told him “I’m not asking you to write me a song, I’m asking you to hold my hand”. That is what he did. He answered our call, our cry for love for him and he offered us “Encore un soir” and René went on this title.

Concert was amazing everyone. I have a full bootleg pretty much. I stopped during iacbtmn and tpol so I could take a snapchat video and a facebook video bUT I have everything else.

 

Loved the show. The setlist, the songs, her energy, just everything. It's a true show about the voice and the songs as it should be

The fact that there were attacks in Brussels, Orlando and many other places (Turkey for example) couldn't care the interviewer less. It seems that he only started a few other questions when he noticed that he didn't get the answers he wanted.

 

The correct answers for the interviewer to be satisfied would be:

 

1) I'm feeling horrible about all the terror in France, why oh way are the sweet people of France being attacked? It happens nowhere else.

2) Of course I dedicate this concert to all the victims in the Paris attacks, that's why I came to sing in Paris.

 

 

By "turning around the pot" like we say in Belgium (don't know the right phrase in English but it means that you talk a lot without saying something) she's being polite to the interviewer. You have to know that a serious attack happened in Orlando just before the interview and the interviewer only cares about Paris (I understand he's French but still, his questions are like there were only attacks in Paris). If she answered the questions truthfully quite a few people outside of France could be upset so she handled it like a pro.

I think that Caesar's would allow her to do a few special performances here in the States. Look at the Pandora concert in 2013 and the Summer Series concert this July. Hopefully, she'll be able to go to the big cities here like NYC, LA, Miami, etc.
