I am totally convinced that a hardcore fan from this forum owns this DVD, but is afraid or doesn’t want to share it

I return to this video occasionally because I just find her comment so funny. "We're not having cous cous tonight!" :giggle:

But also interesting because I was under the impression she recorder ABM in The Bahamas (according to Wikipedia)...so Whitney was also in the Bahamas?

Yay! I love this video, and the lyrics are so touching. I just wish they would rearrange the track. A polka with a children's choir? Not my favorite style....

:confused1:

I'm not sure about the DVD release (although this appears to be ripped from one), but I am sure that this arrangement on MHWGO (David Foster) is my favorite live arrangement she's ever done.

Plus that Versace is just so beautiful, and I love her hair style. :wub2:

When he said “Whitney’s right around the corner” he didn’t mean literally. He meant that it would be easy to get her to sing “All by Myself” instead. Anyway, there’s no way Whitney could’ve done that note.

Really? Did he later clarify? That seems an extra weird thing to say...

From My Story, My Dream, page 299:

It was at Record Plant, in Los Angeles. The day before, David told me he'd changed the orchestrations in the last part of the song. I'd have to sing a little higher, actually up to an F, which is almost at the limit of my range. But even worse, he wanted me to hold that note for several measures. In all honesty, I was dying from fear. I knew I couldn't take more than two takes without jeopardizing my voice. David saw my fear.

"If you can't manage to do it, it's no bid deal," David told me. "We'll just go back to the original arrangement."

All right; now that was an insult. On the day of the recording, Rene and I had an argument. About nothing. We always squabble over insignificant things and then can't remember what they were. Even so, I sometimes sulk for a few hours, sometimes for a few days. Rene, more rarely. He doesn't like to be cold to me. And he always tries to cheer me up, to make me laugh.

That day, he wanted to sulk seriously and didn't go with me to the studio. So I left all alone, "all by myself," for the Record Plant, where I found David Foster cold, condescending, and almost contemptuous; and he didn't even ask why Rene wasn't with me.

I'd tried each key already and had done my voice and warm-up exercises. While the technicians finished putting in the orchestra tracks, I paced around the studio. I think David purposely delayed starting, as if he wanted to unsettle me even more. At one point the brute came to me and said, half in earnest and half in jest: "I can tell you're worried; but don't worry about that fuss over the F. If you can't handle it, I told you, we'll find a solution. I can always ask Whitney to do it."

Whitney Houston was recording that day in the adjoining studio.

"I know she can reach that F and hold it as long as necessary," David made a point of adding.

...

When I arrived at the hotel, Rene was waiting for me in the lobby, smiling and nervous. A messenger had already brought him a cassette by motorcycle and he'd already listened to it. I threw myself into his arms.

Indeed, she (Whitney) was just around the corner literally. David denied making the comment, but I am curious indeed if he really means that.

Maybe David is just testing Céline if she will do it or not if she mentions Whitney that time.

David to Céline

“If you can’t do it.. we can just go back to the original key”.

I'm going to have to read her books again. There's so much backstory to things she really didn't want to do but was talked into by the men in her life. Could she really say no to Rene, David or JJ? They were influential. You have to understand her attitude now in her life. We need an updated bio so bad! (at least I do :) )

I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.

That’s not a commercially released DVD, though. The banner up top says, “Thank You for Your Consideration”, which means it’s a promotional DVD for the Emmy Awards judges. But either way, this is most likely the source of the new HD clips on YouTube.

Any way, It’s a real treat to have them online!! I used to have about a dozen or more VHS filled with Céline footage, but they weren’t the best quality and were long ago thrown away once YouTube came around. The only Céline VHS I still have are Live À Paris & the Millenium Concert (ordered from a guy in the forum). ‘Ye olden times’ when you had to either tune in live or track down someone who taped the performance. But I digress...

As far as I know, this is the only song that is missing from the above compilation--Like A Prayer as a group, which starts halfway through or a bit after

Reaction time! :)

Did she already tried RnB genre? Isn’t ‘Water and a Flame” RnB?

I don’t think WAAF is r&b. The only song that comes close that I can think of is “Why oh Why” from LTAL

Then, what is the genre of WAAF? Also, is there a RnB genre on 'One Heart' album? :)

R&B is a very general genre, over which I believe musical scholars still argue.

Anyway, here's the DYGEL 12" club mix and the 45 remix", released in Canada as a promo
