Tyler1991 Posted March 15, 2009 at 03:57 PM Posted March 15, 2009 at 03:57 PM This is the only 100% live performance of All By Myself on the tour. Calmar showed me the video and I took the liberty in putting it on YouTube for all of you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cL_in7WprI
Claudette Posted March 15, 2009 at 04:49 PM Posted March 15, 2009 at 04:49 PM I'm still not convinced. The sound of that video is crap and you can't hear Celine properly because of that woman talking... And I would just like to say that even if that note is lipped, it is wrong of you to say that that is the only live performance of ABM, because the rest of the song is always live, including the end. I'm so sick of people writing comments on YouTube and everywhere that it is playback whenever Celine hits a big note. And I'm not just talking about ABM, I'm talking about Alone, It's a man's man's man's world, Fade away and River deep mountain high... FACE IT PEOPLE CELINE IS THE REAL DEAL! Go and watch Britney Spear's videos and see what lip singing is... http://i993.photobucket.com/albums/af51/ClaudetteRobinson/esme.jpg

Oh Claudette.... lipping is lipping is lipping. just like in school, or anything else.... cheating is cheating... lying is lying... and so forth. Your post borders on oxymoronic... "...celine is the real deal...", but we know she lips. We aren't questioning her human nature, or the sparkle in her eye or her love of her family... we are talking about lipping, plain and simple. Take away all your other feelings for her and look at her a vocalist, flaws and all, and accept that she lips and uses backing vocals a lot and has used them more and more as her career as progressed.

Calmar showed me the video and I took the liberty in putting it on YouTube for all of you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cL_in7WprI That's the stuff I'm talking about. She looks like she's actually working at hitting the note, like it's almost a little difficult... like it always looked like when she EVER sang this song live. Not her "eyes-wide-open-im-lip-syncing-face" that she used on every other performance. THIS IS WHAT CELINE LOOKS LIKE WHEN SHE ACTUALLY SINGS A DIFFICULT SONG. Plain and simple.
Thomas Posted March 15, 2009 at 06:37 PM Posted March 15, 2009 at 06:37 PM Yeah it seems that one was acutally live! I guess they discovered pretty much straight away that it was just too much to do every night.

The sound on that video may not be the best, but it is still good enough to hear that it is miles different from the other 131 performances. Alone IS LIVE (maybe not the ending, but the high note is)Man's World IS LiveFade Away - I don't knowRiver Deep Mountain High IS Live Like the poster below you said, we know Celine is the best. We aren't trying to take that away from her. But when 131 performances sound nearly identical, it's pretty clear they're lipped. Sure, they aren't going to sound 100% the same, and that's because of the technique she uses for lipping it. But the differences aren't big enough to prove it's live. The only one that sounds different, is the one I posted. Edited March 15, 2009 at 06:42 PM by Tyler1991

Compare the Omaha vid to the New York vid to others, there is even that dude on youtube who is so content with bringing Celine down, haha, he has two fade away vids side by side, and they are nearly identical, but there are still subtle differences, plus in one of the videos she sings and in one she skips part of the song.. maybe just a word, but still proof enough, especially with the Omaha[i think] video. ps. I LOVE that 'for sure' live version of ABM. I am not a diluded Celine fan, I know that she, among others, can't sing 20+ songs perfectly each night without crapping out their voice, getting sick, ect, and she may just have limitations. I don't think she does have that many, as she was at least able to hit that note live once, if not more. I just feel like, the Taking Chances tour is over now so.. I'm sad. hahaha http://68.media.tumblr.com/0215da4dacb45f3375c9bf63cb89e9c3/tumblr_o3edqjdnpP1s2lrfeo1_1280.png
Tyler1991 Posted March 15, 2009 at 07:52 PM Posted March 15, 2009 at 07:52 PM Hmm, well....now the question is this: We KNOW she can hit the note live still....so if she ever performs this song again (during Vegas for example)....will she perform it 100% live as she is only performing 70 shows, compared to 140ish. Because as of now, the only reason why I can find that she chose to lip it for the other 131 shows, is that the big note was to stressful on her vocals for that many shows in one year.
Kyle_Jared Posted March 15, 2009 at 08:10 PM Posted March 15, 2009 at 08:10 PM (edited) Can you imagine if Celine sang THAT note in All By Myself live EVERY show for a whole friggin year on tour. HELL no. If I was an artisit I'd lip that note too. She'd have no voice left if she sang a note like that every night. The fact she hit that note once is enough for me......LOL Edited March 15, 2009 at 08:11 PM by Kyle_Jared
CelineFanInSoCal Posted March 15, 2009 at 08:11 PM Posted March 15, 2009 at 08:11 PM Hmm, well....now the question is this: We KNOW she can hit the note live still....so if she ever performs this song again (during Vegas for example)....will she perform it 100% live as she is only performing 70 shows, compared to 140ish. Because as of now, the only reason why I can find that she chose to lip it for the other 131 shows, is that the big note was to stressful on her vocals for that many shows in one year. That's a good question, and it kinda makes me nervous to think about the answer. To me, it seems like the use of lipping has increased over the years, kinda culminating while she was in Vegas, increasing the number of lipped songs to more than ever during a live show. Then there was the Taking Chances Tour; this seemingly took the ever-high number of lipped numbers from Vegas and slung it skyward to the highest number of lipped performances during a live show/world tour ever in her career. [leaving out all tv specials, etc.] I am scared to think this trend could increase in the future... unless my celine related dream comes true and she refreshes herself during her break in such a way that she comes back better than ever. She's done it before, and I think she's the type that would do it again. My main concern is that at some point, she will have such a different sound to her voice and be using backing vocals from her vocal prime?! I surely hope not, but given her current selection of backing vocals tracks, which are approaching 5, 6, 7, some 14 or 15 years old, I would wonder what would happen to her live performances. Maybe she'd pull a number from Cher's live shows and show video montages from "way back when during the glory years", then sing 8 or 9 easy songs and take her bows. LOL. This is a very relevant topic to Celine's career, but I'd imagine only the most open-minded fans could entertain such an idea. There are still plenty of fans out there who would pay $700 for a ticket to Celine's second farewell tour in 25 years and give each other high fives during the show, jumping up and down as she mimed TPOL from her early 90's vocal track and come home to write rave reviews and post their vids on youtube, only to get upset when some of us point out that's she's lipping to an old old track. LOL.

There are plenty of gems from tv specials, and ive posted about it before... if sucks that the pressure of being on a tv special with other people is the only reason why she'd think she had to sing live... like The Prayer with Josh on her last one... When I was at the taping, I was so bummed that so much was lipped, and embarrassed that my friend who came with me had to witness so much lipping as his first time seeing her live. I agree with you; the minute Celine Inc. is in charge, it's understood some miming magic will happen lol

hellmeister Posted March 16, 2009 at 02:37 AM Posted March 16, 2009 at 02:37 AM OK, I have some favorites too This one drives me crazy Especially the part where she starts hitting her chest The other one is this here, I laughed so much! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiabGEp-PrI One more, she is very cute here, she wanted to hear Whitney singing: And, of course, my favorite laugh: I could watch her laughing over and over for the rest of my life!! Its really good, from distance I would really swear it was Celine!!! Chad Michaels is a drag queen here in the Southern Calornia area, doing shows from Los Angeles down to San Diego. She recently did a solo show, honoring Cher's show at Caesar's, complete with around 15 costume changes or so and is probably one of the most popular female impersonaters in the area. And yes, Chad is a Chad - he's a guy who impersonates popular women. Check out his website: http://www.chadmichaels.com/ I was at a benefit last December where he performed as Cher, and I tell you... my heart fluttered a little... it felt like I was really watching Cher. His costumes and makeup are spot on... Edited March 17, 2009 at 05:48 PM by roberry82
