I am almost positive she sang live. If she did it would have been the breathier parts of my all. I know parts of her career she has lipped parts of that song oddly.

 

Mariah has always been more inconsistent and more bold with her lipping. Ive seen her transition from live to playback up to 5 or 6 times in the same song, sometimes even the first half of a single word is live but not the second half.

Oh holy night, mostly all her xmas tour performances you can watch almost any performance of this song and the voices change several times. Transition from live to not back to live back to playback back to live the lip, so on...this song has several transitions

Mariah sang live, but some parts were edited in the final DVD version (like for most of the songs). You can find the unedited versions of Mariah's performances on Youtube. Too bad they removed the unedited version of Natural Woman because of copyright. I still hope that someone put that video back on again.

Also when Mariah lip-syncs, it is very obvious. She was definitely not lip-syncing that night.

It's frustrating when mariah fans on YouTube say that celine lipped more..mariah grand total entire career is like 600 concerts probably. Celine is well over 2000. With celine's scheduling being more rigorous starting in mid 80s, it should be no surprise she was relying on that a few years before mariah. (Celines first touring playback is wdmhbn 1992. Mariah waited until 1997). Her first two tours may have been 100% live, but 6 shows in one tour and 7 in the next isn't exactly asking for longevity or stamina. While daydream tour vocals slayed, music box vocals really did not. Mariah never performed an actual full set before that....MTV unplugged had 7 songs. Tattoo had 5 songs but otherwise she had only prior done short promo stints. That's probably why music box was weak touring vocals.

 

The other annoying thing in regards to mariah is that the only songs she does 100% live is vision of love. Ill be there, and sometimes something else...right now I think those are only two. Im glad that even if percentage wise the two shake out similar that celine just picks a couple songs and thats it. Mariah picks 5 seconds in every song sometimes up to the whole song to lip. Sad. I do love both and sorry to slightly get off topic.

Not being funny, but it REALLY annoys me when they say celine lipped before mariah but celine was doing full set listed tours at 15, she did 3 tours in the 80s i think as a teen and was 100% LIVE for all of em. So basically she was singing 100% live from 1983-1992 thats 2 years more than Mariah and

 

mariah didnt do any tours in 1990,1991,1992 and in 1993 she did barely any shows and was weak vocally. 1995/1996 she did what ? 7 shows ? Then the butterfly “world tour” was 12 shows, rainbow world tour was 19 dates, the only actual world tour she did in my mind was the charmbracelet tour which was 69 dates, adventures of mimi tour was 40 dates, angels advocate 23 shows, Aussie tour 3 shows, elusive chanteuse tour was 20 shows and sweet sweet fantasy was 36 dates.

 

 

Now, Celine in the 90s did 3 world tours back to back, then did 4 years of back to back shows into another 132 date world tour AT 40 !!! Then doing 20 odd date mini tours every year and still doing vegas.... not to mention the only time in her career celine did lip more than mariah was during AND which was 5 days a week, like 120-150 shows a year like come on.

 

 

 

And i love mariah but her stans get to me.

 

 

 

 

And btw that lipped list is just what she does now, that doesnt include all the songs from previous tours between 1997 and 2017 that she doesnt do in Vegas

It looks bad indeed, as bad as the Frankfurt concert that I attended that year.

 

The central stage was great and good proportions for that tour, but the end stage was not good at all.
