I thought it was interesting to see Celine saying that stop singing would be like stop living for her.

I'm not gonna lie I was worried she would stop if something happened, but even though we know she needs time to herself and she needs to be away from the spotlight from time to time to take care of herself and her family, as it should be, it's kind of reassuring to read that singing is her life and she wouldn't stop.

It definitely was one of the most difficult interviews to read, in my opinion.

My eyes were watering, feeling for her and her children.

It only shows that we never know what's going on in her life for sure.

She's very private and she's very good at keeping things to herself.

But it made me admire her even more. She's a very strong woman and I couldn't be prouder to be her fan.

 

I agree with you so much! We are lucky that despite the fact that she keeps her private life private, she wants to share bad and good moments with us - it helps a lot of people to deal with their own everyday problems.

 

Thanks to her strenght, her music, her personality I became a stronger person - I'll always be thankful to her for that!

Well, I finally just read through the article. I'm taking French, and I was able to find out the main idea. I was happy I could comprehend the amount that I could, in French, it wasn't in English!

Nelson's features are more feminine and soft. The shapes of there faces and eyes are also different. Eddy's eyes and face is more like Celine's and Nelson looks more like his dad in Rene's young days.

Yes I agree! Eddy is actually a very cute baby, but he just doesn't smile a lot in pics...that's why everyone thinks he's so serious and like not as pretty as Nelson I guess. Nelson has more of a baby face, but if Eddy smiled more everyone would think differently of him I think.

 

Celine said he isn't as confident as Nelson, like eddy is just how RC was at that age...hiding hehind his hair and stuff. Eddy probably just isn't comfortable in front of the cameras and chooses not to smile, but I'm sure he isnt as serious as people recall lol.

 

Like in l'ete indien preview...Nelson is dancing his little feet out and eddy is just standing there. Celine said they both love to sing and dance and they compete wih each other, yet eddy was shown doig nothing. I think he just doesn't like the cameras and everything.

If I used quotes, it's because it is an actual quote as opposed to a summary. However, some of the quotes needed some clean up (often French translates personal pronouns to "it" instead of "he" or "she", for example). I tried to use third-person when it was a summary, but as I said before, I may have slipped back and forth a bit (so, this is far from professional quality), but I do not have time to go back and clean it up right now. I did try to stay as consistent as possible when using third-person to sum up an answer, as opposed to a quote or more literal translation when I would have used first person.

There is also a house in Montreal, where they celebrated Romy's baptism. It says "I want to sell it to me" not sure how to interpret that part, sorry. She said something about having a cabin in Quebec by a lake to receive their family. She said she kept a beautiful home in Vegas, which is going to be their base.

 

Q. You also said you wanted to do more shows in Paris.

A. Last fall she said she had an amazing experience with her shows in Paris and Belgium. The audience was great, people reacted strongly. She said she has an artistic return (response to her work? fulfillment?) that fills her. She said she "is blessed." Also, "American audiences have adopted" her. She has "fully tasted" and realizes her success. She says, "this is all because of the work and intelligence of Rene."

 

Q. Do you sing in French in Vegas?

A. Yes. She said sings one song in French, she said at the moment it was Pour Que tu m'aimes encore (so, this may be a hint at things to come??)

 

Q. You are also touring the rest of the world soon?

A. She said next October she is going to be in Asia to present a series of concerts. Veronic will be there for the first part of the shows. (Not sure if she means opening act, or just opening act for the first part of the series).

 

Q. A new show in Vegas?

A. "We will keep the main elements: thirty musicians, the white curtain, etc.. " But, she said they will bring "a lot of changes," the show will constantly evolve.

 

Q. Despite this events, it seems you enjoy life more. For the upcoming show (Julie's talk show), you went water skiing, you were wearing a swimsuit. You went out to greet Rene in the parking lot wearing that, with heels on!

A. "I wanted his opinion. I wondered if he would say: "No, you can not do that." I was very wise my whole career" then says something like now that she has gotten older, she has begun to "undress" (meaning just wear less, I think. She started by saying something like "now that it is time to go home, she begins to undress"). Then she laughed.

 

Q. "He never wanted you to be too sexy?"

A. Me either. If we did, it would have been at 17 or 24, not 46. (it translates as "if we do" not in the past tense of if we did, FYI)

 

Q. He was proud instead (referencing to the earlier comment that Celine thought Rene would object. Julie was here pointing out, the opposite happened. Rene was proud).

A. Yes. He laughed in the car, and said he will always keep that image (always remember it).

 

Q. After 19 years of marriage, to still be like that is fantastic

A. "I like to surprise my husband, seduce." She then says they complete each other. He has energy for her career, she focuses on their daily home life (kids, decorating).

 

Q. Is Rene also present with the kids?

A. He attends many of RCs games, hockey and soccer. "Father and son playing baseball and golf." In the house they also play snooker, pool, and of course they both enjoy playing poker.

 

Q. RC has changed recently

A. "I'm proud of him. There was some friction and a period when I had to tighten the screws, but everything readily fell into place. RC is like my security. When I was pregnant with him, I hoped for a girl. We learned that it was a boy, Rene was so happy! I have asked him why it made him so happy, and he told me "I know he will take such good care of you later." Today, it makes sense!"

 

Q. And the twins?

A. Nelson is like his dad. Eddy is like RC (but I think she means like when RC was a baby, not now) and needs to be reassured. A literal translation of this would say that "Nelson did not realize. He read to his father," which makes no sense to me. I take that as he reads like his dad, you know, he takes after him.

 

Q. How does RC handle what happened to Rene?

A. He is very happy he is cancer free. He understands Rene needs physiotherapy and special exercises. And that Rene will get better as months go on. "The best is yet to come for him, for us."

 

Q. Why did you agree to be Romy's godmother?

A. "It's a privilege to have another child to love." It's a "major responsibility." "Even if you never want to need to do this job, let's be clear!" (I take this at just getting at the idea and role of the job being a major responsibility if something were to happen to Julie. So, Celine was just saying she doesn't any anything to happen of course). Romy has something in common with RC, Nelson, and Eddy: she was conceived with IVF. She talked about IVF and that medicine, and how often the treatment is used. She said the doctors do the work of God, in that they help bring life. She said they hold their child's hand, before the parent can hold them in their arms.

 

Then there was just a sign off wishing each other good health!

It was a great interview! I wish she had the chance to do interviews like that in English. She was so open about everything. It's clear there is so much love and support in their family (their entire family, of course, including Rene's older children). It seems like they have great friends around them as well. It sounds like the transition of him not being the main manager was not her idea at first, but it's clear she supports it for his sake and she continues to be so proud of him. They seem to work together so well!

 

They have a lot going on, but it seems like they have support. I hope she can streamline things, and only do projects she truly wants to do, and has more time for her family and her life.

 

So much of this interview was emotional to read. She is clearly very strong, and a true example of how to handle a difficult time in life and continue growing in your strength (and for that matter, Rene is also a great example)!! She truly kept these things in her heart.

I am sure this was difficult on their children, and Rene's older kids as well, but to work as a team shows how strong, and positive, the relationships are in their family. Not to mention that seeing as all of his older children have kids themselves, so their ability and willingness to be such a support is amazing. I am glad RC was there for both Celine and Rene too, and I am sure the twins being there helped Celine as well. They seem like a real family trying to work through a difficult time together. I am glad they had each other for support! God bless them and their entire family!

This makes me realise how much Celine has/had to sacrifice for her career.

Before this news, I thought that she didn't do enough LMBTL promo and she caught a lot of heat from this forum.

Now I think she did too much. She has to please and be there for so may people.

 

This was obviously a hard and scary time, yet she still did what she needed to do.

She really is a trooper.

Just makes me love her more.

 

I believe that when Rene eventually passes on (praying for his health) that she'll leave the stage forever.

I'll be crushed, but I think she deserves to live just for her family - she's given so much to us

 

Whatever she decides, I'm grateful for what she's given me (as a fan) and hope she gets it back .
