However...it is odd that she says she always does one song in French and at the moment it's Pour que tu m'aimes encore. Wtf? And she says they aren't totally changing the Vegas show. They are keeping the concept but going to make lots of changes. She wants to offer a show that evolves.

yeah, thats quite strange. Maybe the only changes in the show will be some new dresses and a new visual here and there... Edited by ryba

The images are stunning! :wow:

But reading the interview was very, very difficult indeed! Kudos to Céline for putting up a brave face in those difficult times and really managing the entire family, especially during the holidays. Candid and open was the interview. I mean, she's candid most of the times, but this reminded me of some of the interviews she did before taking the hiatus after Rene's first bout with cancer. Behind all the superstar status and celebrity life, she's still a human and I absolutely respect her for that.

Now coming to the later part of the interview, I am not sure how to react regarding the concept of the show. It is still a classy show and she said they'll keep on evolving it over time but I don't know how she's gonna sell out with the same concept for so many years. But I think they'll update the set list and I reckon they should be a little more adventurous with it at least.

I LOVE most of the paintings of Monet! And it happens to be that I live in a place he painted a few of his works I'm sure almost everyone knows houses on the Zaan River at Zaandam, it happens to be that I live so close to that house, and yes it is still there! (see photo)

I don't know if it has been said but in this article they mentioned that it's Celine who imagined the setting based on a Manet painting (Dejeuner sur l'herbe) and a flower market. Celine is definitely very creative! :) I liked the idea!

Well, I finally just read through the article. I'm taking French, and I was able to find out the main idea. I was happy I could comprehend the amount that I could, in French, it wasn't in English!

I should also add: thank you, Woodstock!!

Also, in the article she discussed how she and Rene compliment each other. He has energy for her career, and she focuses on their home life.

They are a good team! :)

5. This was funny: when she dressed up to water ski in the bathing suit, she also had heels on. She went out to greet Rene in the parking lot like that. Julie said it's great after 19 years of marriage they are still like that. Celine said she wanted his opinion on the outfit. She thought he might say no. But, he didn't. Instead, he laughed and said something like he would remember the image :) She said she loves to surprise him.

:giggle:

That's cute.

Page 2 (page 50 of article):

Top quote above photo: "Fewer houses, fewer people, fewer projects. I would like to simplify my life to enjoy more."

Q: Do you tell yourself the worst is behind you?

A: Yes, but another fight begins. Rene has issues eating. This weakens him. Right now, he has a tube in his abdomen (like a feeding tube). She seems to describe two, she says a "first" and then a second and refers to a smaller tube (as in one smaller than the other). He has a doctor in Texas, who treated him 15 years ago. Dr. Steckler. His philosophy is to treat the patient, not the cancer. Celine loves that philosophy.

I will do the other questions on this page later tonight, sorry!

I am sure reading about a feeding tube will upset some people. Sadly, anyone who has had a loved one who experienced cancer will likely know that needing a feeding tube isn't totally uncommon. Some treatments make swallowing difficult. It takes time, but that muscle does heal. In the meantime, people need to maintain nutrition. This is not to minimize it at all! I am so sorry he needs one at this time! But, I just didn't want people to think this was unheard of. I haven't gotten there yet, but later in the article, she does say he is out of danger (thankfully!) So, please keep that in mind.

I will post the remainder late tonight!

They ask if the worst is behind them and she could have said everything was okay, but told the truth saying that new problems start and that Rene is having trouble eating.

I read this part differently .. . I thought that the feeding tube was when Rene first arrived home in early January . . not now. Because in that part of the interview, Celine had been talking about how difficult it was to be in Vegas while Rene was still in the hospital in LA, and then when he came home to Vegas, "We were so happy to finally be reunited." And then Julie says, "And there [presumably when he arrived home in January], you tell (told?) yourself the worst was behind you?" And Celine says, "Yes, but another battle begins. Rene had trouble eating, was weak." And then she talks about how he temporarily had to have a feeding tube . .first one, then a second, smaller, more comfortable one. But most of the description is in the past tense, and I think she was talking about when he first came home last winter.

Either way, what an ordeal for both of them. They are both so strong, and clearly have so much love for each other and their children that sees them through this. Even RC must have had to grow up pretty quickly this year, and it's so sweet how close he and Rene are, and how Celine says he is her security. Also sweet how involved and dedicated Rene's older children are. Such a beautiful family, and I wish them healing and all the best in the future.

Page 50 continued (beginning with the second question on that page, as the first has been provided above):

Q: Through everything, all of this, you had to continue your Vegas shows?

A. "Being back on stage makes me feel good."

Q: Because on stage you forget your problems....

A: She knows it may sound crazy, but she think she has never had so much fun before, or been so free. She cited to the fact she has had no problems with her voice (keep in mind this interview was a bit ago, so of course she could not foresee her current show cancellations).

Mego was telling her that she is radiant. Saying it cannot be, because he knows what she is living through, but it seems like she is shining and just radiant, and singing better than ever.

Q. At this time, you are in the reconstruction (reconstruction in is the literal translation)

A. "Absolutely! Rene is and is not in danger. And I know that happiness is here, close to me, close to us. This test has yet brought us together. We are more in love than ever."

Q. "At what point do you start to think that Rene can no longer take care of your career in the same way?"

A. "This is his close friend Pierre Lacroix, who speaks to him: "Rene, you have to take care of yourself You have to delegate..

Me, I never want that. René is the best manager in the world." He is still president of the board of Feelings (their company). He managed her entire career, and co-produced Veronique's show. "He is a great visionary." He will now have more time to focus on the artistic development of her career.

"Then he was able to go do the job alone. You can stay at home, my man? There is no problem! You'll prepare my tour and then I'll go. after all I have already made done a world tour alone in 1999." She offered cancel, but he said it would be too much stress, and he watched the shows live from his office computer while in Florida. (this last bit of course, referring to the 1999 concert tour).

The end of page 50 (actually the last question continued to page 51. Off to work on page 51!)

I have ordered the magazine , don't know how long it will take to get here but il upload scans if someone hasn't by then.

Reading the interview is heartbreaking. She is so strong and the way she kept going when many others would crack in the same situation.

I can't believe she found out at the voice and still managed to go out and give a stellar performance & not a hint anything was wrong.

She amazes me!!

I ordered it too! I'm amazed at all they went through.

Yes, I agree either way it was an ordeal. I think I still read it as present, because she said it's an issue they need to solve, which is present tense, and she said now the second fight begins (meaning his recovery). But, like you said, either way it was an ordeal, and they both exhibit love, and it is a beautiful family. It does appear we agree, regardless of timeline, that his recovery required a feeding tube of some sort (either currently or prior).

This is a difficult part of recovery from cancer. The cancer is gone, but the body can be so weak, and now it needs to rebuild. Often there is difficulty with swallowing food. A friend of mine needed a feeding tube for more than a year, because the muscles in their throat made it too difficult to swallow. So, I wasn't shocked to hear about Rene's feeding tube, but nonetheless, I am very sorry about it. I will say, and of course this is just based on friends' experiences as I am not a doctor, with time those muscles do heal. The feeding tubes do come out, and people do rebuild strength. But, cancer recovery is more than just being cancer free. It's a fight in your body, and it can be tiring. I am so happy Rene has so many people around him and supporting him!

A. "No. That would be like stopping my life." But, perhaps, doing less work. (literally, it reads, "but perhaps a big machine, doing less work." Not sure if she means to keep delegating more, or to just do less work. Keep in mind, however, she said herself she would not stop working entirely).

Q. Meaning, in your professional life?

A. Even in my personal life. Rene and I do not want to possess several houses." They didn't have time to go to the house in Florida. There is also a house in Montreal, where they celebrated Romy's baptism. It says "I want to sell it to me" not sure how to interpret that part, sorry. She said something about having a cabin in Quebec by a lake to receive their family.

Thanks for doing all this translating, Nico! On the two places you indicated not being sure what it meant, I read the first one as: "Maybe just not as big a machine to operate" -- Like she definitely wants to keep doing what she's doing, but on a smaller scale.

On the second one, I think she was saying, "I want to sell it [the current Quebec house] in order to build my "cabin in Quebec," on the lake to host all the family," -- Like she wants to sell the current big estate so she can trade it for a smaller "cabin" on a lake. . again scaling down.
