I think it has to do with the fact she has always said she prefers live performance, and she has said in interviews she wishes she could tour but a big world tour all at once is not feasible right now. She did briefly discuss the possibility of doing a world tour, but doing it in pieces, just like she performed in Paris. So, if she does go to China, it would not be out of the blue. It would seem consistent with the idea of touring the world, but in stages.

 

 

Really, I hope for the fans in Asia that she does do a short concert series (I know other fans want her to visit near them as well, but this thread is about the possibility of her tour in China and maybe Hong Kong)

 

 

Music videos cost an artist money out of their own pocket. A tour would, in theory, be covered by her Sony contract. So, doing another mini-tour lets her do promotion the way she prefers (live performance), at her pace and on her schedule (to some degree at least) at not as much cost to her as a series of music videos, most artists and music labels make the most money from a tour as opposed to album sales or other promotions, a mini-tour probably gets more press than a random music video release, and fans who haven't seen her perform live in years get the chance to do so! All in all, it sounds like a win for everyone--much more so than a music video being posted on YouTube (at least in the United States, music videos are almost never played on television anymore). Plus, I think the concept of doing a world tour in stages is unique: she is both like a resident artist in the United States (due to Vegas), but she can still announce huge sold out shows around the world. It makes her seem more like an in demand commodity than just a touring machine.

Very nice. I like how you incorporated "Unfinished Songs" as bookends for the concert. I had a similar concept for if "Celine" were to be revamped. I posted it a few weeks back.

Going to China just makes a lot of sense. Huge population, more wealthy people than ever before. The infrastructure to accomodate tens of thousands of fans hopefully without massive traffic jams or other incedents that would cause negative publicity.

 

We keep hearing from fans saying why not my country? If you live in a country that has experienced riots or other types of unrest then a concert would be less likely there. If you live in countries that have long standing disputes with others then don't get your hopes up. China is the exception to this rule for the same reason that you don't see the US cutting back on trade with China despite backing other countries that feel threatened by their big neighbour. The money talks loudest.

MACAU—Celine Dion has “boxed out” Manny Pacquiao from the spotlight.

The superstar singer will stage a concert on Nov. 8 at Cotai Arena in the palatial Venetian Hotel and Casino here, forcing Top Rank to move Pacquiao’s next fight from the previous scheduled date of Nov. 16 to Nov. 23.

Top Rank big boss Bob Arum, in town for the Nonito Donaire-Simpiwe Vetyeka WBA featherweight title fight, said they have moved the date for the Pacquiao mega fight.

The reason behind the move is to give organizers enough time to drumbeat the two major spectacles to be held in the biggest casino complex in the region.

Arum said he has talked to Pacquiao camp but has yet to name the next opponent. Among those mentioned are Amir Khan, Ruslan Provodnikov and Juan Manuel Marquez.

“We have lots of names, list and list of names,” Arum told Filipino sportswriters during the grand arrival of Donaire and Vetyeka at the hotel main lobby.

Arum added that Pacquiao could get the biggest paycheck of his career in the next fight. “Manny can’t make less—for any fight—than $20 million,” said Arum. “It goes up from there, somewhere between $20 million to $30 million,” he said.

I wouldn't get my hopes too high on this, there are only rumours, and really if this would be in November wouldn't the tickets already be on sale? Since tickets for Paris and Antwerp went on sale in April or so. But if she does that would be great for the fans living in Asia

I agree. Remember also that Celine talked on the radio about wanting to come back to the UK to do some unplugged shows. I really think something would have happened this year if it wasn't for Rene's health, especially after she got such a great response during the SA Tour.

I believe the original plan was an English language leg and a French language leg of the 2013 tour. But since LMBTL was postponed so many times the skipped the English language leg I think. Wouldn't it be cool if Céline would do like 3 or 4 weeks in the O2, with a show similar to the Vegas one, but then with all the hit songs she had in the EU. I think this would really work since fans from all over Europe can easily travel to Lodon and if you got a 3 or 4 week period of shows, fans can plan and even can go multiple times (as if we already wouldn't do that ) Maybe she is going to do a small EU tour next year, and visit countries like the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany just the countries where LMBTL sold good. and maybe she can go to Belgium and France again. I would also love to see a concert in Quebec again.

Correct. However Quebec is in Canada and Canada is part of North America
