LOS ANGELES (AP) — CBS says Celine Dion will host a holiday special spotlighting adoption.

The network says Dion also will perform on the 15th annual "A Home for the Holidays," along with Ne-Yo, Chris Young and others.

The special will introduce families and the children they adopted from foster care. Among them is a Los Angeles couple inspired to act after seeing last year's program, and a young man who lived in 11 foster homes before a Washington woman adopted him.

According to the Department of Health & Human Services, there are about 400,000 children in foster care in the U.S.

Presenters of "A Home for the Holidays with Celine Dion" include the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and the Children's Action Network.

The hour-long special airs 8 p.m. Eastern on Dec. 18.

I hope she sings more than one song. I watched the one with Mariah Carey and also the one that Faith Hill and they sang more than one song, including Xmas songs.

The Faith Hill one was amazing! She did about 4 or 5 songs if I remembered correctly. But unfortunately the audience of this type of show is already in Celine's bracket.

...That's exactly who we need right now. She did Kimmel and Fallon, both of whom have much younger audiences, and look what it resulted in charts wise.

Don't get me wrong, I have seen a notable amount of new fans based on LMBTL (the single) alone, but if she needs to reach anyone right now it's her oldy moldy core. Too bad it's not her own special, but it's better than nothing. Does this pretty much cancel out the possibility of a CBS special dedicated solely to the album?

It's basically her own special with a spin on adoption. :D This should bring more viewers!

Personally I am super happy about this, however this is just another excuse for haters to post comments in the articles "why did she do IVF and not adopt kids herself? blah blah blah. People are so critical of her, drives me nuts

I she does Christmas songs, I hope it will be someone that she hasn't peformed before...

Tournée Européenne in Paris (December 1, 2013)

Céline Dion Live 2016 in Antwerp (June 20, 2016)

Céline Dion Live 2017 in Birmingham (July 27, 2017)

Maybe this means that Celine is finally considering adoption. I know she still would like to have more kids and Rene said there is less then 1 percent chance of her becoming pregnant now, so maybe this is a sign that Celine is thinking of adoption.

YES!!!!! THANKFUL would be perfect!! I hope there's a choir in the special -- so she can sing a Christmas song (maybe one she's never performed before!), INCREDIBLE, and THANKFUL!!! If she performs any of her hits -- I hope it's a quick, nice, medley. And then go right into a new song!

I hope she performs DON'T SAVE IT ALL FOR CHRISTMAS DAY. And prefaces the performances with "I wrote this song back in 1998 for my Christmas album, TAST." She can plug both albums at once!

This really is a great platform for Celine. She's playing to the perfect crowd. This will remind a lot of people why they love her.

Here I am getting all nostalgic about the first cbs special 15 years ago and then a new one gets announced. This sounds great the cbs specials never dissapoint.

What a good week this has been, good uk promo for the album and now good promo for the US, which is exactly what is needed right now.

Yes, more promo for the US makes me excited.

I feel the same excitement as when she hosted the Junos in 93!

It would be amazing if she performed "Incredible," "I"m your Angel," both with Ne-yo and "I met an angel (On christmas day)" and "Christmas Eve"!!!

'Ιncredible' and 'Thankful' are a must for this Tv Special. I can also see her performing 'Always be your girl' or 'Lullaby (Goodnight, my angel)'. Edited by LukeD

She should also promote TAST with DSIAFCD

I love that song so much, lyrically and musically! And Celine wrote it :-)

Also agree with Incredible and Thankful! The choir would be amazing and could also serve for Oh Come all ye Faithful

That sounds like a medical prescription. Take TAST with a dose of DSIAFCD.

Yes, that would be good. And O, Christmas Tree. I'd die to listen to the complete Celine version of that one.

This is great news but I find Dec. 18 a bit late in the game, don't you think? For sure, it's better than nothing... The late Xmas shoppers will know what to buy as a last minute gift... :D

If she sings a song from TAST, I wish it would be Another Year Has Gone By... with Bryan Adams. Perfect for a Dec. 18 TV show. :xmas_wink:

After the TV Special, there is a whole week until Christmas. Shoppers will have a good 6 days to bring the album... back to life!

Celine said on the last interview that Rene was old to be a dad now and that it would be selfish of them to consider having another child. Too bad, I wanted a petite Celine! But if Celine thinks Rene is old, that goes for IVF as well as for adoption!

That was one of many things she said in that interview that were different than anything she'd said before. Odd, because in so many other interviews she'd said the age didn't matter, that he'd given them so much already that it was a part of them, that she would represent him as Mom and Dad . .I remember them asking how she felt when Rene was sick in '99, before she had any children, and they froze his sperm -- they asked her if she would have wanted a baby if Rene had died. And she said she would have wanted it more than ever, because the baby would have been part of Rene.

It also seems silly that she didn't acknowledge, in that last interview, that she's 45 and it would be practically impossible for her to get pregnant at this point - especially since she's acknowledged that in other interviews. There were so many odd things in that interview that it makes me wonder about it, especially because it was translated from english or french --> german, and then back from german --> english. I wonder how well the interviewer spoke english when translating the interview into german.

Yes! And I edited my post to say that I think part of the issue is that Celine must have answered the questions in English or French, which was translated to German, and then translated back to English for us. I wonder if the German interviewer didn't speak English/French too well, and just kind of guessed at some of Celine's answers. . . .
