First, when the host said they were going to do a homage to Rene, and it was time for Julie to leave, Julie said that she, too, wants to give homage to Rene in 5 seconds, and said, "The word loyalty in the dictionary was written for Rene Angelil. He is the most loyal - who works with the same people. He could have worked with Americans to do their DVDs, their things, [something i missed] -- same people for 25 years -- one the great qualities about Rene -- and Celine -- is the loyalty. And for that, it is a pleasure to give homage to Rene."

 

Then they had Roch Voisine sing S'il Suffisait D'Aimer -- the host said it was her favorite song with Rene -- odd, never heard that before, and seemed like a strange choice for that moment.

 

Then they did the montage of beautiful moments of her and Rene, and Celine said, "Such happiness. Thank you very much." The host said something about fans loving the couple, and when they faced hard times together, like when Rene was sick, the fans were with them. Celine said it helped them enormously and she thanked them. About the show at the Stade de France, she said, "I felt truly all the love of everyone who was there." She said something like, "They were there for me, but they were there for Rene also." Then she said, "It's true that Rene and I are only one. [or "make one" as in, they're two people, but so connected that they're one]. I know that the people know this, and I appreciate this very much. And I think that, once again, it's for this that I believe our love is very special, our relationship together, it's for always [forever], if I may say so.

Ok so I finally had some time to watch the videos of this show. Or should I say it was like a trip to the past instead Watching her dance to Dans un autre monde was clearly the BEST moment of the show. And I think she allowed herself to dance thanks to the playback

 

Well in all honesty I've never been harsh with the playback thing, and I've never complained about her use of it -everyone does it at some point-. But one thing is the use and another very different is the ABUSE. One thing is to have her singing one song in playback at one show, from time to time, and another thing is to to have a whole show where she performs in playback one song after the other. That's too much evident, and not good for her at all

 

Embarrasing... that's the best word I find to describe this show. "Le Grand Show" of 2012, part II. I thought french producers would be more creative and original, when its only been 1 year since they did that 3 hour show and they had Céline doing exactly the same act, a bunch of french singers who are screaming to sell their albums thanks to the presence of Céline in that show, and then Céline "sings" another bunch of old hits in playback. Honestly, did they ran out of ideas? For me this show was only the confirmation that some songs need a rest SO BAD, especially when we see them performed in playback and we see that the 45 year old Céline can't freshen up that song today. I'm talking of:

 

All By Myself: seriously, get rid of that song in your shows Céline. She's clearly avoiding to sing this song live in its full version today because the high note can be harmful for her vocal chords, so what's the need to keep this song? What's the point of keeping the mockery? There are TONS of gems in her discography waiting to have a chance on the stage! (And personally, I've never been a fan of this song. The only reason why I love ABM its because Sola Otra Vez exists )

 

Dans Un Autre Monde: like I said, watching her dance this song was the only highlight of this show to me. I would dare to say that it was because of the playback that she allowed herself to dance and move like that for the first time in YEARS! When she has to sing live, she clearly gives much less space to dancing and moving on the stage, and one of the few advantages of playback is this: she can freely move in the stage and not to be so rigid and static behind the micro

But that said, Dans un autre monde... honestly.... AGAIN???...............

 

Have they heard of "Priere Paiene" or "Regardez-moi"??? Or songs included in "1 fille & 4 types" and "D'elles", her most recent albums before "Sans Attendre"???

 

 

Hey have yall heard that Celine Dion has an English cd out? Yeah it's been 6 years and it's pretty good. She should be promoting it but she had to do a stop over in France to sing the same catalog that she did from SA promo last year! Sarcasm mode.....

Exactly! These albums are full of gems. Actually, they are the gems!

 

Even Celine (who says that she doesn't listen to her music!) cries when she listens to D'elles!

 

So many missed opportunities in all the shows!

 

There is a lot of great chances to show amazing songs which she has never sung live before!

 

Let's hope they will realise that soon...

We're all seeing it, how she's bored to hell of singing the same songs all the time, there's a very different look in her face when you see her performing fresh songs like Loved Me Back To Life or Qui peut vivre sans amour and when they ask her to perform MHWGO, All By Myself or Dans un autre monde: she's been performing these songs unceasingly since 15 years ago, and that has a consequence in her mood when she has to sing them after so many years: she's bored! And yet she believes that people expects her to sing these songs ALL THE TIME, and that's where the mistake is being made. No Celine, you don't need to sing MHWGO and BYLM and ABM in every concert you do wherever you are since 20 years ago. You can change your setlists, combine songs from past albums and alternate well-known songs and singles with other songs never performed before which are AS GOOD AS THE SINGLES (or even better!), and present new songs while others have a rest and viceversa. But they don't learn from this. That's the problem. Result? She became soooo bored with a certain amount of songs today. A burden that its becoming heavier to take, judging by her latest comments with the promo of this album

How could anyone spend 10 hours in there, respond to questions and sing LIVE. This is way more tiring than a concert!!! (And supposedly there were some technical problems with a screen which took 3 hours to solve. And that's why she ended up going to her hotel at 4 or 5 am and cancelled the TV show the following day. But Céline might do something to compensate for that cancellation...). I guess now we know why she often lips in France... Too much talking on these loooong TV shows and recording takes FOREVER!

english speaking french teacher. She rarely spoke to us in french and if she did got did she'd butcher it. I do wonder how in the world she got a job but besides that she was super nice.

Yeah the taping takes ages to go, but it must be even more frustrating when you know the show its not only about you and your album, but you have to share it with many other singers that makes you wonder "what am I doing here?"

 

And like I said I don't have any problem with playback when they do a good use of it, but this show where they mixed playbacks from songs that have 18 and 15 years ago with more recent ones was maybe too much. It's evident her voice doesn't sound the same as in 1996. But that's why I can't understand why they don't take the chance to show other recent songs like those included in "1 Fille & 4 types" and "D'elles"? And if she had to go with an english track in playback, she could even have performed Eyes On Me or Shadow Of Love. At least the playback wouldn't have been so blatant!

Do you remember, guys? It was somewhere in the first half of the show, not far from the begining. Cuz it seems like I've never seen this perfomance or probably I just don't remember, dunno. So anyway. If you could just tell me more about this perfomance or provide a link to the one I'd really be "forever thankful baby"...

She wants to refresh herself and her music...well she just released two new albums in two languages and yet she wants to go on ignoring them. I have been, on the whole, disappointed with this era of LMBTL. We are getting nothing too new and Celine's voice is, as is clear to me especially in this promo, not going to last forever. The aggravating part about it is that Celine AND her fans would both be happier if she changed the status quo. No more lipping, no more beating the old songs to death.

 

C'mon Celine!!! The thing is, I think she'll go for the money and for trying to please what she thinks is her main fan base. She is 45 NOT 60 years old, she doesn't have to reminisce on her old setlist and stick by it. She can break new ground, highlight different songs, and give us innovative shows. Le sigh.

Exactly. She needs to have the guts and say "listen, no more TPOL, BYLM and MHWGO for a while". Just for a while. And from now on, ONLY songs that make her feel happy to perform. I'm sure it wouldn't be the end of the world for her public. Whoever likes and has interest in going to see a Celine Dion concert, he/she will go no matter if she's singing MHWGO or not. They go because of that voice, not because she's singing MHWGO as a "conditio sine qua non". But she needs to learn this. Until then, she will continue to burn herself thinking that despite she's bored to hell singing those songs, she just has to do it because people expects her to sing them all the time .
