and they would say she thinks too highly of herself, sometimes there is no solutions where you are Celine Dion :innocent:

I know. That's the most horrible thing about the price of fame. No matter what you do, there's always gonna be something about it.

Celine talking about the album:

She looks soooo pretty in this interview. And I love her against that purple backdrop.

What she was saying was so heavily edited into tiny sound bites that's it's hard to know what's it about. But it's interesting what she said about musical theater --- I always thought from her reactions on Larry King that she'd never want to do it, though she used to shy away from saying it so directly. (Can't understand *why* she wouldn't like musical theater, though. . . imagine Celine in Les Mis? or West Side Story? Ah-mazing!)

Well said, because you know that's what people would think.

I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.

I'd LOVE to know which were the first two questions to the answers she gives in this video. It seems the journalist asked her about the supposed "flop" or low sales of the album in the US, or why she changed her style (as if it was a bad move)?

The question could have been as simple as that too:..."Is it important to you to still be #1 with an album?". I really don't think the question was related to the US performance of her album....

I don't have much hope for any of these songs to be AC radio, which is highly disappointing. If her team truly has said they won't be shooting any videos (never officially released, just some info from another fan) because they can't commit Celine to more work, then I wouldn't count on anything else coming as far as that's concerned. At best, they'll release tonight's performance on The Voice as the official video; which would explain why they waited to officially announce Incredible as the next single until now. It seems they announce the singles as they're about to air somewhere (I.E. Breakaway in the UK just before she appeared on Strictly Come Dancing). Given this most recent interview, it's almost as if she's saying she loves what she's done but it is what is. Given all of this info, the album will continue to drop in the charts if she comes across as "whatever" about it. I don't think she means it that way but if people perceive her not care, for whatever reason (even though it's a commendable reason), they won't care either and they won't feel the need to buy the album. I think she knows this and this is why she may be kind of "whatever" about it, to some degree. Such a switch from the woman we saw in NY at the Pandora concert. She looked liked she really was enjoying herself and the new music. I hoped for so much for her. Hopefully tonight's performance will turn things around, at least for a little bit. I was really hoping to see Incredible as part of The Olympics. Not sure if that ship has sailed or not...... Edit: although, given the headline, I think she's also responding to how the reporters ask her questions. If they're pessimistic, she seems in a similar mood as well. Edited by ehild

Me either. AC's format has become sooo pop/soft rock, that previous core acts are really having a hard time getting a hit. I thought "My Love" was going to be a smash on AC and it lingered in the lower Top 20 regions. Not even a ballad would guarantee success here.

Now, "Incredible" has all the ingredients to be a multi-format hit, but then again, better not to hope for the best and wait a bit to see how this turns out to be. From now on, it's better to rely on surprises than expectations, I guess.

The first album in her entire career to be received better by music critics than the audiences. Shocking!

feeling coochy coochy looking at Rene dear...

Anyway, what I'm really happy about this album is that she has performed so many songs from it live (not counting the album specials). I think the last time we had this was during ANDHC

Yes, and there's also this Broadway medley. (Somewhere from West Side Story in French!!! ) But I don't think she meant that she doesn't like Broadway *songs.* I think she meant that she doesn't want to do live theater - that if she sings live, it would be in a concert; and if she were going to do acting, or a combination of acting/singing, it would be in movies. My guess is that she wouldn't want to be onstage and not be able to acknowledge/interact with the audience until the show is over.

Funny, because when I watched the sound of music live I was like Celine should have been in this she would have been so good singing of course and all motherly with the kids. I could really see her doing something like this, but I guess it's not her thing and that's ok too.

Digital Spy UK has posted some very complimentary comments about Celine in an article about the future of this years X Factor winner Sam Bailey :)

Her smartest move would be to record an album similar to Celine Dion's most recent effort Loved Me Back To Life. Not because of the overblown comparisons that were drawn between the two throughout the series, but because Celine managed on the whole to create an album of power ballads that don't feel like they were made for a cruise ship or wedding. It's a tricky balance to get right (Celine enlisted the help of hitmakers Sia (Rihanna, Britney), Eg White (Dido, Rebecca Ferguson) and Ne-Yo), but one that has proven possible.

It's a happy situation to listen to the album on days there's happy news and the forum is also happy and buzzing with excitement. Happy! :)

I really hope they go that route with amazing Sam. I'm so happy she won and her single is great, although I had already loved Demi's version.

And the same Xmas wishes to you too, dear. :xmas:

I agree. 'A New Day Has Come' is her only English album to both have a theme and be 100% original ('Miracle' included recycled songs). The coherence is there too, of course. The album that comes next in terms of great track sequence is 'Falling Into You'. Extremely polished and well-structured albums. Edited by LukeD

Well technically its not 100% original, since "At Last" and "Nature Boy" are there, but at least those are 2 covers she had never performed before, unlike "River Deep Mountain High" and "Natural Woman" in FIY (both of them performed in 1995 and 1994), and "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" in ATW (premiered in 1998). ANDHC triumphs in originality and creativity where mostly all the other english albums fail.

I said '100% original' because she added things to the covers, 'Nature Boy' remains one of her best interpretations. The English and Spanish adaptions of the French songs were also a fresh and creative effort on their part. Talking about the covers in 'Falling Into You'... '(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman' remains one of her worst attempts to do the original justice, since she would strain her voice to come off as soulful. Same goes for the painfully screamed high note in 'River Deep-Mountain High'. Her singing in 'A New Day Has Come' is far superior than her singing in 'Falling Into You'. (And before people come for my comment, they can also ask Your_Su_Phu about it who has an interest for vocal pedagogy). Edited by LukeD

Not to mention that with "Nature Boy" they cared enough to do two versions, one with an orchestral background and another with piano solo  When before had they gone that far with a cover, to do 2 different versions? Like I said, in 2002 Céline and her team were at their top of creativity, I have no doubts

Actually '(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman' is from the Tapestry Revisited 95 album... So not originally recorded for FIY... Maybe that's why it's only a bonus track in non American countries...
