Okay, just listened to the remaining 8 songs and here's my views...

Always Be Your Girl - wow :( the lyrics are slightly "been there, done that" but the vocal delivery and the piano are incredible. The last minute is absolutely sensational.

Unfinished Songs - the production in the album version is completely different to the version we have previously heard! Its quite ethereal during the verses, but once that chorus kicks in, it sounds very much like I'm Alive. I really like the new, more modernised version!

Thankful - OH-MY-GOSH! :o :o :o that bridge though >>> I need this live, with that backing choir. Everything about this song is absolutely sensational. Probably going to become my favourite.

Breakaway - in a perfect world, this would be the second single; a live performance on the X Factor would SLAY. Love it.

At Seventeen - y'all know how much I love Céline's take on this, its splendid. Everything you'd expect it to be, sublime vocal delivery.

Overjoyed - with KING Stevie Wonder - firstly, that intro was like WHOA  Not sold on it. Its a much more modern version of the song, which I like - and the vocals are terrific. But it doesn't belong on the album. I don't think I'll listen to this too much.

Thank You - it annoys me how she says "refuge", it sounds like "refuse" Love the easy-listening nature of this, its happy and sweet. It reminds me of something that would fit on One Heart. The vocal delivery is also slightly reminiscent of Dreamin' of You [Falling Into You album].

Save Your Soul - wasn't sold on the Amazon preview, the full song is epic. The vocal delivery is like nothing I've heard from Céline before [during the chorus anyway] - and I like that. Class song.

Overall, its definitely her most seamless album since A New Day Has Come - cannot wait to have this in my hands. I cannot get over how different her vocal delivery is, its just so different to anything she's ever done. It sounds like its going to be a fantastic record. I've so far scheduled an iTunes download of the album [pre-release], I will also be purchasing a physical version. I'll also be buying the deluxe version when it arrives.

I'd rather give a detailed album review once I have the album in my hands and have listened to everything in HQ. Also opinions can change after the initial wave of excitement has dissipated

can we add a poll for favorite song or favorite choice for second single? I'll post my review in some minutes!

BREAKAWAY: I think it's the best song on the album, and possibly her best ballad since I SURRENDER. The melody, lyrics and singing is perfect! The emotion is beautiful. If I had to point out one negative thing is that they pitched her voice (I'm 90% sure that she sang it one semitone lower and they pitched it to make her sound "younger"). It's not the first time they've done this. The last notes are so powerful and I'm very impressed with the new sound she's found for her falsetto. Until now we've only heard it on "Taking Chances".

SAVE YOUR SOUL: I already said it's a MAROON 5 song, I really like it. It's uptempo and her voice fits perfectly with the style of the song. Lots of new sounds in her voice. She seems to be experimenting a lot with it!

THANKFUL: Beautiful song. It reminded me of "Natural Woman" and her voice even has a tone similar to the FIY album! Possibly the second best song in the album. She sounds powerful, young. The bridge is like a breath of fresh air, her head voice hasn't sounded that crystal clear in long years and her high notes in the end are breathtaking, very a la "je sais pas". Lots of D5 and that G5 in the very end ;)

UNFINISHED SONGS: A huge improvement over the movie version. It's nice song, I love how a lot of songs have a positive message. Remineded me of the ANDHC radio remix/I'm Alive! And the "have it aaaaaall" part reminds me a lot of BYLM, when she goes: "(lifted me...) uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup!"

THANK YOU: It has the "One Heart" sound. It reminded me of FAITH. The verses sound like a very well known song from the 80s or 90s I can't put my finger on it yet. I think the verses are the best parts of the album. The production is beautiful.

AT SEVENTEEN: Still sounds like elevator music. Not a fan. I don't like her "Miracle" way of singing. I even prefer the Grammys version. I mean, it's a beautiful song and many people might like it. But it doesn't hold a candle to the original.

ALWAYS BE YOUR GIRL: I really like the verses but not the choruses. Her falsetto sounds really weak and thin, and the whole song relies on the use of it. So not a fan of this song either. Hopefully it will grow on me. Still, I like the verses, have a LTAL album sound ;) The last chorus was also pitched, when the song goes up one key, instead of Céline singing those high notes they just pitched her voice. I'm not liking that laziness. You can tell the final result is not "natural" and doesn't sound like her. Mariah uses this trick a lot. The last note sounds like the ending of "Miracle".

OVERJOYED: My props to Babyface for the production. The intro is haunting. Stevie's performance is brilliant and beautiful and in a way overshadow's Céline's, cuz she's caged in Stevie's register and didn't dare go higher or more powerful. Believe it or not, Stevie goes higher (C5) than Céline (B4) on this song. Still, her tone is beautiful. Too bad they sing separatedly in most of the song.

BREAKAWAY - I'm blown away!!! This is her best album vocal in YEARS!! Contrary to what someone else said above about the voice being pitched, I don't think that at all. I do think a modern effect was used on her voice though. I thought she was even going to use the same track that Ivy Quaino used, but I was so pleasantly surprised by the reworking of the music and then that VOICE. Just wow!!!

ALWAYS BE YOUR GIRL - Beautiful. A nice, understated ballad. Her voice and the piano sound exquisite together always. I really like her falsetto on this track.

UNFINISHED SONG - I always liked this one from the beginning. I never understood all the hate. I really love the new arrangement. The drums are great, I love the echo effect "And we're all (we're all, we're all, we're all...)" Gold star to the producer for the update!

THANKFUL - I was pleasantly surprised by this song. I didn't really care for the preview. But it's definitely one of my favorites. Vintage vocals ala "LTAL" I can't wait to hear it in HQ.

AT SEVENTEEN - Sorry, haters...I LOVE IT...this is CELINE'S BIOGRAPHY!!! Talking about how she was unattractive as a younger girl, her name pronounced wrong (THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES) Babyface did a beautiful job with this song. Celine's vocals are smooth and velvety. Love love love!!

OVERJOYED - A little Christmassy at the beginning. Was expecting to see some snow out my window. But overall, I like it a lot. The production is nice. Their voices sound wonderful blending together.

THANK YOU - THIS IS THE ONE I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!! Ne-yo...thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for writing this and giving it to Celine. It's beautiful. I love the melody, I love the music, the production, Ne-yo's back up vocals...Just fantastic!! This song makes me feel very nostalgic too. I definitely think this is my favorite song on the album.

SAVE YOUR SOUL - Definitely stands out on the album. It's different for Celine. Good melody, nice hook. I like it a lot. Would actually like to see this one performed live. Maybe even with Adam Levine. That would be kinda sexy.

I will definitely miss posting in the pre-release thread. It's exciting when the album is finally released..but it's also sad to see the anticipation go away. Especially after this past week with the leaks, and the community that this forum became.

Ok, I already calm down now and ready to give a review with my poor English so maybe i couldnt express what i though in a right way.

  1. “Loved Me Back to Life” : Maybe I'm the least people who didn't get too excited about the song but it keep repeating in my head since the first day I heard it, I can't say I love it but I still like it. It open Celine new era.
  2. “Somebody Loves Somebody” : I really love this song, I like the fast chorus and it's catchy, i could dance to this song. The middle east atmosphere makes it more interesting, her vocal remind me of ANDHC era. I think this song could easily liked by casual fans,
  3. “Incredible” (feat. Ne-Yo) : The lyric are repetitive and short, but it sound so modern, their voice bland together, I love it.
  4. “Water and a Flame” : I hate to admit that I love this song, I love the vintage vibe, I’m the few who like her “bedroom voice” I really like when Celine explore new sound, the bride and the high note are awesome.
  5. “Breakaway” : to be honest this cover song is the most I’m afraid of since I really like Ivy’s version, and surprisingly Celine own it, I can not compare the both of them, they are so good. It would be one of my favorite.
  6. “Save Your Soul” : This is so funky, the chorus always remind me of Unison Era, the ending reminds me of Moi Quand Je Pleure, you know the “hey ha” part. I like the ending but I still don’t know if I like the whole song.
  7. “Didn’t Know Love” The Intro so haunting, the vocal is awesome without exposing the high note. This is one of my favorite.
  8. “Thank You” : I don’t know about this one, the lyrics is so sweet, but still can’t decide if I love it or not
  9. “Overjoyed” (feat. Stevie Wonder) : I really love the original version, but this version give it a new dimension, I love hoe they make it sound modern, and I like the Christmassy intro, and the nature sound ohhhh I looove it so much.
  10. “Thankful” : This is the most anticipated song for me from the snippet, and it proved me right, I’m so in love with the song, the vocal, the bridge, the gospel. Super.
  11. “At Seventeen” the song is perfect for lazy afternoon. I love it/
  12. “Always Be Your Girl” : the reminds me of Let’s talk abou love era. Beautiful/
  13. “Unfinished Songs” I like the new sound.

Overall there’s no one single song I hate. I really like this album so much.

This is my short review of the album:

"Loved Me Back To Life"

-Loved Me Back To Life is a great song, perfect opening to the album. I really love the "Ah ah ah ah" sound and samples in this song.

"Somebody Loves Somebody"

-This song is modern and the up-tempo beat is great. I think this potentially could be a very successful single. The bridge here is crazy! This is totally different, but really enjoyable.

"Incredible"

-I really love the way Celine and Ne-Yo's voice blend together, and this song is good, but there are more amazing songs on this album. I'm hoping the HQ version has more of a stronger beat to it.

"Water And A Flame"

-The bedroom voice is on fire in song. I like the song, it's kind of the "That's Just The Woman in Me" of this album, and I do love the high note here. However, I think That's just The Woman in Me is way better. I am so happy they changed the album title from this song.

"Breakaway"

-Amazing. This is her best song in years. This is exactly how I want this album to sound. The intro is so beautiful, haunting and mesmerizing. The whole song is very mesmerizing. Loving her vulnerable yet persistent sound here. The last course just blows me away. Perfection! This would be my first single choice.

"Save Your Soul"

-I'm in love with this song. The "Uuuuuh uhu" sound is so haunting. What a perfect upbeat song to this album. This is what her latest albums have been missing. It's the "Everybody's Talking My Baby Down" of this album. We really need more songs like this on this album. I love that the "Baby" references are back. ".....Baby, I can save your soul.... Uuuuu uhu".

"Didn't Know Love"

-This song reminds me a little bit of "I Got Nothin' Left" but she sounds more emotional here, and her voice is so different, so down to earth and raw like she sings this to someone in an empty room.

"Thank You"

-This reminds me of "Faith". It's got a very similar sound. Sweet and calm, yet easy and fun. I love how humble this song is. It's defiantly a happy song!

"Overjoyed"

-The intro reminds me of something taken out of a Disney movie. There is a split sound on this album, and this song has somewhat of an "old Hollywood" feel to it. While most of the other songs feel new and fresh. It does the same thing that "At Last" does for A New Day Has Come.

"Thankful"

-The piano is awesome! This could be on Falling Into You. The bridge is magical. Beautiful production value on this one. The lyrics goes "ghosts and fairytales" and if there was a word that could incorporate both words into one that's the I'd use to describe this song. One of my new favorites! This song is pure magic.

"At Seventeen"

-I absolutely loved her first live performance of this song, but the tempo is somewhat different here, and a little more "chill". It reminds me very much of "Right Next To The Right One" It also has somewhat of a "happy feel" to it, while I'd want this song to be more woebegone or defeated.

"Always Be Your Girl"

-This song is pretty good, and I love the way she sings to her boys. It's all about love and protection. Always being there, but it's a little bit contrived, still good though. It's like a more powerful song from the Miracle album.

"Unfinished Songs"

-This is my least favorite on this album. It's fine, but nothing special, it just kind of has a smooth sound all the way through. Nothing that really breaks it down or brings it up. It also ends so suddenly. I wouldn't mind if this wasn't on this album. I'd rather replace it with something else. A cover of Sia's "Breathe Me" would be the perfect ending to this album.

In general I love this album, and I can't wait to listen to the deluxe songs.

Writing my reviews as I'm listening to each song:

Loved Me Back To Life: Great track, I'll never get tired of the climax part.

Incredible: I'm glad to finally hear a HQ version, the piano intro gives me chills every time! By the way, it's weird that on that Swedish radio this is track 2 instead of 3, maybe they changed their mind last minute and will release this song as the second single?

Somebody Loves Somebody: Great song, very demanding vocally. We'll see how she goes through it live later today!

Water and a Flame: I can definitely feel that 'Adele' approach that Celine mentioned on this song. She probably wanted to get into a more realistic situation than her other songs; instead of ideal love (like The Power Of Love, Because You Loved Me, Falling Into You, The Reason... etc), on Water and a Flame she sings about a much more realistic situation, and the instrumental reminds me of the atmosphere of Adele's '21'.

Breakaway: Holy f*ck! What an intro! What a voice! My god , she NEEDS to do this one live!! This instrumental is so damn powerful. Please Sony, TeamCeline, or whoever is in charge of this, make this a world radio hit! F*CK those belted notes!!

Save Your Soul: Didn't like the preview, but I'm liking the short intro. The song has potential to become like a theme for a TV commercial or a series or something like that. To me this is a mix between an unreleased track of 'One Heart' and Shadow Of Love 2. Not very impressed by this one..., it also reminds me of the intro theme for 'That's So Raven!'

Didn't Know Love: HQ audio makes such a huge difference. The short clip from that interview on 'The Today Show' on June of last year didn't get me too excited but damn, what a great song. Like Water and a Flame, this one reminds me of the '21' atmosphere, I can definitely feel the touch of Eg White.

Thank You: Nice mid-tempo intro. I was very interested on listening to this particular track, sounds very radio-friendly! That 'wooahh' makes all the difference . Like I said when I first heard the snippet, this song has a very Because You Loved Me message, but with a much more modern sound! I can definitely relate to this track, I LOVE YOU CELINE DION

Overjoyed: Sounds like they re-arrenged this song or something, nice! I wonder if they filmed the recording of this song. Well, nice track but not stunning like other songs on the record so far... Oh this song doesn't fit this album at all.

Thankful: Piano intro. Nice song, but not better than Breakaway, at least for now... Hey what's that echo?? Nice! WHERE DID THAT CHORUS COME FROM?!?! LOVE IT!

At Seventeen: I've heard this song in her voice too many times by now, but nice studio take. My mother's gonna love it. Despite the lyrics, it's a very relaxing song. Nice guitar solo there! Coming to my mind right now is a mix of images of her singing the song for the very first time at the '08 Grammy Nominations Concert and that clip of the studio recording session. So cool!

Always Be Your Girl: Finally this song sees the light of day, 2 years after it was recorded! Very powerful lyrics. Nice melody, quite emotional!

Unfinished Songs: I mean what a nice different intro! I didn't know this new version was going to sound soo different, great! This one is much more modern, oh I love it! Wow, what a way to improve a song. At first I wasn't sure about having a mid-tempo track like this one closing the album, but damn it's a good way to close it!

Overall, I consider this one her greatest English album since 'A New Day Has Come'. Can't wait to hear the 3 remaining songs!

Tournée Européenne in Paris (December 1, 2013)

I don't think BA was pitched up, it's pretty obvious when that's done (a la IGNL) and sounds atrocious and chipmunkish/unnatural. Celine has different approaches to different songs and also she has said many times that she wakes up with a different instrument every day. If you compare between performances or eras sometimes it almost sounds like a different person.

IGNL was really pitched up! You can do it very in a very subtle way, she did it in a couple of songs in the late 90s too. If I pitched down the voice in BA a little bit you would recognize Céline right away and realize why she "doesn't sound that much like her" ;) I'm a music producer and I can assure you she was pitched up on the whole "BREAKAWAY" song and in the last chorus of "Always Be Your Girl".

Here's an example of how her voice sounds when you pitch it up just a little bit: it makes her sound younger ;)

I don't hear the G5

It's in the last chorus after the bridge when she goes "thankful for feeling aliiiiiiiiive again!" she goes from full chest voice to a light falsetto, hitting a G5!

The only thing I don't like for album is the fact that none of the songs fade out! SJNRDT had that amazing fade out outro which instantly made fall in love to Celine even more. Thank You, Thankful, At Seventeen and Unfinished Songs should have faded out, in my opinion. I like all songs but I'm not impressed with SYS, TY and Thankful. Slightly disappointed by the fact that deluxe tracks may be suprisingly good, and we'll have to wait for 4 days to listen them.

It's an INCEDIBLE album! I could listen to it from track no1 to no13, without skipping any of them. During the TC album and the SA album, I used to skip a few tracks, but this album is ...WOW!! Fresh and catchy songs, a powerful voice. And I love, love, love Breakaway, SLS, WAAF at 17 and ABYG!

Overall grade: 8/10

The album is great! I just wished for the album to have one more uptempo song towards the end. But anyway I love it, is very fresh!

The song I love the most is LMBTL and then DKL, SYS, Thankful.

Which songs did they pitch her up on in the 90s?

Late 90s and all over the past decade... I don't say it's wrong, it's a trick to make her sound girlish and more sopranesque...

THEN YOU LOOK AT ME for example...

in the movie version you actually get to listen to her real voice without the pitching thing going on.

THAT'S THE WAY IT IS

ONE HEART

COULDA WOULDA SHOULDA

I'M ALIVE

A WORLD TO BELIEVE IN (the last chorus)

and now BREAKAWAY

It's so subtle that you can barely notice. And that's why whenever she sang those songs live her voice sounded a lot "older" or she had to lower them.

I'm gonna write my review from my favorite to the least... although it could of course change.

1. Somebody Loves Somebody: I fell in love from the first moment I listened it. Great uptempo song with lots of attitude and great lyrics. I also fell in love with the way the song made her feel when I watched the recording sessions from Amazon.com. Would love this to be a single. A+

2. Thank You: for personal reasons, the lyrics of this song have made it go deep into my heart. "Because you didn't have to"... PERIOD A+

3. Thankful: The haunting bridge of this one gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to it. I was  when I saw the titles of these two songs a long time ago, but I'm grateful to have them now. A+

4. Incredible: As a Ne-Yo fan (Because Of You, Sexy Love and Mad are faves of mine) and after his collaborations on Taking Chances, I was excited they would find the time to make a duet. And the results are breathtaking. Their voices blend perfectly. This could be a big hit if reléased as a single. A

5. Always Be Your Girl: I feel transported back in time with the amazing melody in this one. I don't like to compare songs, but this reminds me in a bit to "I Know What Love Is" from One Heart. When I listen to both I get kinda nostalgic... A

6. Breakaway: I didn't listen to the original by Ivy Quainoo, as I wanted this to be a Celine experience, which I'm glad I did. Though I have listened to the original now and I like it a lot, I believe this is a bit better, as Celine conveys a bit more emotion IMO. (Without being biased LOL) A

7. Overjoyed: Again, I didn't listen to the Las Vegas performance as I wanted this one to be a surprise. And it was (also because I saw some negative comments about it in the forum). A timelsess song covered by two timeless artists. What else could we ask for? B+

8. Didn't Know Love: I was nervous when I heard the snippet, as I didn't like the snippet, but the entire song is gorgeous... vulnerable... poignant... B

9. Save Your Soul: this has been a grower, as I didn't like it a lot on first listen. I thought it was going to be a Love Is All We Need pt. 2, as I don't like the latter, but this has a groovy tune. I see some Maroon 5 and En Vogue in it. Not bad. B

10. Unfinished Songs: I prefer this new edit to the movie version. I think it gives it a bit more character. Still not a huge fan, as Diane Warren has given us better songs... B-

11. At Seventeen: I was never a fan of the original, but when Celine sang this one at the Grammy concert, I found it to be a cute song. B-

12. Loved Me Back To Life: maybe you'll be surprised to see this one so low in my ranking, but truth is that, while I like the song, I never got to really love it. Same thing happened to me with TC, but overall I prefer this album 1000 times more than the last one. B-

13. Water And A Flame: this is the song that really doesn't do it for me. I like it more now than when I heard the snippet on Katie Couric's show, but I don't like the vocals that much. C

Overall rating: 8,5 out of 10! :)
