I cannot see any music lover not liking Celine's New CD, "You Loved Me Back To Life". As she always does, she gave us the best of her, her talent, gorgeous music machine ( her voice), and all of herself. I cannot recall any singer at the age of 45, almost 46, be as beautiful as Celine (she has never had plastic surgery), and be in the business for 34 years and stills keep us looking for anything she gives us fans. I just Praise God that I had the privlege to have lived in this time and place. I was blessed to have seen her 3 times in concert. I was suppose to meet her when I went to the Premier of this present show at Caesar's Palace; unfortunitly that fell through. If I never get to meet her here on Earth, I know for sure I'll be meeting her in heaven. I love you so much Celine, my heart actually hurts. Your so pure and down to earth, truthful, you share all of you with us. My husband does not know what he is missing when he refuses to listen with me.

My most respect and thankful that Rene had prepared her super stardom, all the while staying in the background so all the acolades where for Celine. Rene, you are the most unselfish human I have ever met. I gave him a poem I wrote for them when RC was just a tiny tot when I was at the premiere; he is such a gentlemen.

So we're coming up to 6 months since the release of Celine's latest English album "Loved Me Back To Life." I thought this would be a great time to re-visit our reviews from release time. Are you still listening to the album? Has the novelty now worn off and the album has been shelved next to your collection and you haven't listened to it again? Are there any tracks that are still truly among your Celine favourites?

I've found my review from this thread back in November and have updated my thoughts on how I feel about the album and songs in red below.

What are your thoughts 6 months after release?

Ok so I've just finished listening to the album all the way through for the second time and here my intial thoughts:

Loved Me Back To Life - 10/10 - so good to finally hear the song direct from CD. Loved it when I first heard it from the Quebec concert and I still love it now. So modern, so fresh from Celine. Might be the last time we see a lead single like this from Celine so am really glad we got it. Thank you Sia for changing the direction of the album and by the way just how good does Celine sound here!

Still love the title track and it's very high on my most played songs on my iPod. Exactly what Celine needed and a real joy to hear her singing such a modern sounding song.

Somebody Loves Somebody - 10/10 - LOVE IT! When this leaked a month back I just about fell off my chair, it reminded me of how I felt the first time I heard "That's The Way It Is." Love the beat, love the chorus and I love the notes Celine hits towards the end of the song. Probably the first song I'll listen to from this album on impulse listening.

Also still loving Somebody Loves Somebody and this would be a great summer single if Sony had any sense. Just like "That's The Way It is" I think I'll be listening to this song 15 years from now!

Incredible - 7/10 - I get it, they've wanted a duet with Ne-Yo since they worked together on "Taking Chances" but i'm not sure this is the best result they both could've came up with. Don't get me wrong it's a "nice" song but that's about it for me. Doesn't seem to go anywhere.

Being completely honest? It's not great is it? I think it's brilliant that Celine's team were able to attract Ne-Yo to the album and I like that they've came up with a "safe" duet they can perform together but my take on this song now is just "meh" to be honest.

Water and a Flame - 9/10 - Damn it! DAMN IT!! I wanted to hate this after the Daniel MerryChristmas affair but it's brilliant! Celine sounds brilliant and I believe every word she sings here. Will be on repeat quite a lot I suspect and I actually hope to see her perform it in Paris.

Remains a highlight for me particularly after seeing her perform it in Paris. You can see and hear it's a song she's passionate about and what a difference that makes to her performances of it. She loves it and as a result I still love it.

Breakaway - 10/10 - Possibly THE star of the album for me. So unexpected and it pulls Celine's "power ballad" style right up to date and damn those notes in the last minute of the song!!! Love the melody, love the piano intro, love the bridge and I love that she slams it home during the last minute!

Disappointed the song didn't take off in the UK but it got lost in a crowded Christmas market and it did help album sales. This is probably still my favourite track closely followed by Somebody Loved Somebody. Would love to see this performed in her Vegas show. They've GOT to start believing in her new material.

Save Your Soul - 6/10 - On my first few listens I'm not convinced. I know there's something there but I'll need quite a few listens of this one to fully get it I feel. It's almost like the "Treat Her Like A Lady" or "Make You Happy" of the album if you get what I mean.

Sad to say I skip this song every time now.

Didn't Know Love - 7/10 - My Love mark 2. Nice song and I can see it being part of future concerts. An emotional performance from Celine using her "softer" voice and I like it.

Still like this and it remains an example of Celine doing what she's always done best!

Thank You - 8/10 - Love the short intro and then we're right into it. Again softer vocals from Celine early in the song, the verses are a bit meh but when we hit the chorus I realise I'll remember the song. Reminds me a lot of Faith.

Rarely do I let this song play now i'm afraid.

Overjoyed - 3/10 - Sorry but what the HELL is this doing here? I thought I'd put "These Are Special Times" into my CD player instead when I heard the intro. And also, this is a Celine Dion album correct?! So I'd expect Celine to have the majority of the vocals not Stevie. Celine's voice doesn't really go anywhere is this meandering song. Boring and lost on this album.

Skip always!

Thankful - 8/10 - Again another one where i'm not really feeling the verses at the moment but i'm "Thankful" for the chorus because her voice just soars here and I remember the song because of it. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the last minute of the song, back to the 90's vocal operatics from Celine. Doubt she still has it? Listen to this!

I'm still really feeling this song and it's one of the stronger ones on the album for me. A good updated sound for Celine.

At Seventeen - 1/10 - Yawn. Next.

The Grammy performance in 2008 was enough for me. I didn't need a studio recording 5 years later. Yawn. Skip always.

Always Be Your Girl - 6/10 - Love the simple piano intro. Now this song confuses me a little bit, I'd expect my girlfriend or wife to say to me "I'll always be your girl" certainly never my mother! Aside from that, it's a nice song and Celine sounds good. It's album filler for me though.

Again nothing here for me anymoooore, this is skipped too!

Unfinished Songs - 5/10 - Much better than the movie version however that doesn't promote it to any more than decent album track for me. I like the message of the song but for a Diane Warren / Celine effort I expect better. Perhaps that's a bit unfair as it's a catchy little song but just my opinion.

The album ends here as far as i'm concerned. I think the impact was probably lost as we'd heard the film version a good few months before the album was released. It's a middle of the road track for me and not Diane Warren's finest hour. It remains a pleasant enough listen however.

How Do You Keep The Music Playing - 3/10 - Thank goodness this is only a bonus track. Celine sounds great but my goodness what a snoozefest.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel) - 2/10 - Again, thank goodness it's only a bonus track, this would've been ideal for the "Miracle" album but has no place here i'm afraid.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Overall though, a strong album for me and probably the most "current" album Celine has had since "A New Day Has Come."

Hopefully it catches on around the world because if it doesn't they'll just revert to their tried and tested covers for future albums I fear.

By the way as a footnote I'm not impressed with the "deluxe" edition packaging. The booklet is cheap (Celine doesn't even thank her fans!) and putting the credits for tracks 14 & 15 behind the CD just screams cheap! Really they couldn't print one more page in the booklet for those details?

A solid 8/10 overall for me.

So in summary there are 6 songs I still listen to regularly and that will probably remain in my Celine playlists for a while, the others though I've already forgotten about and after a 6 year wait for the album that's a concern.

What are your updated thoughts on the album?

Good idea Shaun! Looking back in this topic, we had such high hopes... I had written a review somewhere but I guess it was in another topic??

I still listen regularly.

LMBTL- Crank it up still! I remember hearing it played on Sunny 99 in Houston and nearly ran off the road! Now silence....

SLS- Crank this one up even louder still! Can't get enough!

Incredible- Well I've said it a couple of times in the Incredible thread, this song doesn't have much substance! It was nice hearing it on The Blend (xm) however I never heard it on regular AC radio.

WAAF- Love, love, love this song! I soooo didn't want to after Merriweathergate and the "croakiness" of her voice! Oh just in case no one knows how I feel about the bridge, OMG the BRIDGE is TO DIE FOR! Repeat, repeat, repeat!

Breakaway- Great song!

DKL- Gets me all the time still! Great bridge also!

SYS- Crank this one up still!

TY- Sometimes I skip this one

Thankful- Love this song still, never skip it! Love the bridge!

ABYG- SKIP

Unfinished Songs- Rarely do I listen to it. I liked the "hey heys" at the end before it made it to the cd.

HDYKTMP- Lovely but should have stayed in Vegas!

OK:

Overjoyed- Why, why, why, why? Not a fan even when she does it in Vegas. I want to just shoot those fricken birds! SKIP!!!

At 17- Again why? SKIP

Lullaby - Again why? SKIP

OK I listen to this album about once a week and learned to appreciate every single song even Thankful and always be your girl. I like the bonus tracks. I got the Japanese version yay to Open Arms. I say a B+ album. The best Celine album is still FIY in which I don't have to skip any songs.

I'm sorry but even tough is "modern" Incredible is still the weakest track for me.

This 6-month look-back is a fun idea! I still ADORE Somebody Loves Somebody, Breakaway and Incredible; I still skip LMBTL and SYS. I *wanted* to like DKL, but it just never happened and I started skipping that too.

I like WAAF a *little* better after seeing it live -- the live version is much better than the album, IMO, but I still don't really like this song (sorry, Sherri - yes, I know, the bridge is pretty cool).

Thankful came to feel a bit too "heavy" to listen to too often, though I still think that bridge is amazing. I actually liked At 17 when it first came out -- the vulnerability, the "story-song" sense of it, Celine's personal connection to it . . .but once you've heard it a few times, you've heard it, and that's it -- I started skipping this one, too.

The suprise for me was the staying power of Unfinished Songs. I liked it from the beginning, but thought it was the sort of song that might get old quickly, but that hasn't happened -- on the contrary, it's become of my favorite songs on the album ,and I always get a little thrill when it starts. Very upbeat and good workout song, too.

The tracks that still stand out to me are WAAF, SLS, DKL, Thankful, and Breakaway. I don't think I like LMBTL, Incredible, SYS, ABYG, and Thank You as much anymore. I still adore HDYKTMP and OA as well.

hello everybody, im baaaack, did you miss me lol... sorry that i have been away from this forum for a long while, but alot of things has happened to me recently so i havent had the time or energy to write on here these days... its a long story lol, but anyway...

ok here is my review of "loved me back to life" the album 6 months after its release, (since this past monday was the actual 6 month anniversary of when lmbtl the album was released here in the usa):

1. "loved me back to life" the song- i still like listening to this song alot on my ipod & is still on my playlists these days, & something that i discovered a few months ago was that "lmbtl" sounds very similar to sias 2012 hit "titanium" (which is my favorite song from sia, also is frequent on my ipod playlists), both songs have that dubstep beat to them & they have the same lyric style since sia had written both songs, but the huge difference is that what "titanium" has that "lmbtl" does not have is that dance mix from david guetta, which made "titanium" more upbeat than "lmbtl", & i think that even tho "lmbtl" is a pretty good song & i still enjoy it, david guetta should have added some of his dance music in it like he did w/ "titanium", because who knows then, it might have done alot better here in the usa maybe, even better than that awful remix of lmbtl that sony tried to pass off to us lol, but it was not really that good in my opinion... & i think that this song should have stayed in her vegas show, but anyway i digress...

2. "somebody loves somebody"- this song is still one of my favorites from this album & imo one of THE BEST upbeat songs that celine has released in several years, @ least since "i drove all night" back in 2003!!!! i dont know why, for petes sake, sony wont release this song already, this song is screeeeaming to be released & since upbeat songs are whats mostly played on the radio & on tv nowadays, especially during the springtime & summertime because of the beautiful weather outside, & celine really needs a new upbeat & modern hit song right now... to me SLS would be THE perfect spring & summer song to hear if sony was smart enough to release it right now, but sad to say, i dont think we are going to get anymore singles from this album, @ least in the usa... :( :( but i still think its a really great song, it should be in her vegas show asap, & should have been released as a single before "incredible" did, & while we are on the subject of "incredible" lol...

3. "incredible" - while i do like this song as well, i dont think its the best 2nd single choice, especially after the failure of lmbtl the song... i think that neyo & celine should have done a different duet, or maybe even done 2 duets, this one & a more upbeat song, similar to neyos recent hits "closer", "let me love you", or even neyos duet w/ rihanna "hate that i love you", which is a slow song but is more upbeat than "incredible", & the other duet could have been released as a single instead of "incredible", which obviously hasnt done that well here in the usa either, a different song from celine & neyo singing together might have done better than "incredible" in my humble opinion, i digress...

4. "water and a flame"- @ first because of the whole daniel merri-whatever mess from last summer, i will admit that i didnt know if i wanted to like this song, or even listen to this song, but it has grown on me, i think its unique & interesting for a celine ballad & is not a typical ballad that anybody would have expected to hear from her... in fact this song kind of reminds me of celines song "ten days" from her "a new day has come" album , which i also really like as well & i think that song should have been a hit but anyway... too bad "water & a flame" & "breakaway" didnt do better as singles in europe & that neither songs were released in america & canada as they might had some potential... :( this song also belongs in her vegas show along w/ a few other songs!!!! :) :) :)

5. "breakaway"- another pretty song from this album, & like "water and a flame", this song also should have been a bigger hit in europe & should have been released in america & canada... yes even though her voice might have been a bit higher pitched in this song than we are used to hearing from celine, i still think its a really nice & soaring ballad that celine is always known for through her entire career... another song that so desperately belongs in her vegas show!!!! :) :) :)

6. "save your soul"- @ first i wasnt really crazy about this song either when i first started listening to this album, but then it also grew on me during the past few months... while its not my favorite upbeat song from celine, its still kind of a fun song to dance & exercise to as well, (even though to me SLS is the best out of the 3 upbeat songs from this album)... but what sony should have done was included the rap version on the cd & itunes version instead of only the vinyl version because not everybody bought the vinyl versions since many people dont have vinyl players including myself lol... the rap version should have been added as a bonus track to the album, i mean there have been many other albums out there that have 2 different versions of the same songs on them, thats what sony should have done w/ this song... yet another dumb decision made by sony when it comes to this album to add to the ever-growing list, we are really racking them up arent we lol...

7. "didnt know love"- its an ok song for me, i dont dislike the song, but i dont love it either, its one of those middle-of-the-road songs to me... while its not one of the worst songs from this album, to me its also not one of the best either imo, sorry guys but this one just hasnt grown on me 100% just yet... :(

8. "thank you"- another middle-of-the-road song for me, even though i have just started adding this one to my ipod playlists recently, its also not one of my fave songs from this album as well, even though it does have very sweet lyrics, i will give this a little bit of kudos for the sweet message in it... :)

9. "overjoyed"- SKIP, SKIP, SKIP!!!! i have never been a fan of this song, even of stevie wonders original version!!!! now i like some of stevie wonders songs, he does have some really good songs, but i just dont care for "overjoyed", its not one of my favorite songs from stevie, sorry folks!!!! even though its nice that celine & stevie did a duet since celine is a huge fan of his music & all, but instead of recording an almost 30-year-old hit of stevies (even if it is a song from her vegas show), they should have recorded a brand NEW SONG together!!!! even though stevie doesnt make as many albums as he used to, ive heard he still does work w/ other singers from time to time, & since he has written songs over the years, im pretty sure that he would have written a new song just for him & celine, but of course sony didnt allow enough time for anymore new songs to be added, so unfortunately they put in this song instead... yuck yuck gag gag lol... :( :( :(

10. "thankful"- one of the best songs of this album!!!! such a beautiful ballad just like "breakaway" & should be in her vegas show as well!!!! i especially love the part after the bridge where the choir joins in w/ celine, & since i read on this forum that celine came up w/ the idea of adding the choir to this song, i fell in love w/ this song even more after that!!!! :) :) :) it also makes me wonder how much more input did she have on her other songs, & not just this album, but on her otheralbums over the years as well, even though i adore celine dearly & her usual family chatter @ times,i wish that in her interviews for her new albums, that she would discuss more about her input into her songs & the process of recording each song, just like w/ this song... :( wishful thinking lol...

11. "at seventeen"- ANOTHER SKIP!!!! sorry but i dont care for this song either... even though i know that its a very personal song for celine, because of being bullied back when she was a kid, & i can understand that since i was bullied when i was a kid as well, @ alot of people also were growing up... so for that reason, i tried to get into this song, but just like a few forum members have said before me, after a few times of listening to this song, its still a dull & boring song... i didnt even care for janis ians original version either, & i had never even heard of this song, or heard of janis ian herself, until i saw celine perform this song on tv a few years ago, so to me that says something about this lifeless song... yuck yuck gag gag lol...

12. "always be your girl"- ANOTHER SKIP FOR ME!!!! now when i first read the title of this song (before i have even listened to this song mind you lol), i thought the song was going to be about the relationship between a BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND or a HUSBAND/WIFE, for not one moment did i really think this song is about the relationship between a MOTHER/SON!!!! just yuck, plain old yuck lol... sorry but this song to me is kind of lifeless & cheesy, i dont think that rc, eddy, or nelson will be flattered w/ this song when they are older lol, i dont think it should have been a mother/son song, it should have been for husband/wife, romantic type of song, to me that would have made much more sense than this song actually does lol, i just dont care for this song @ all either...

13. "unfinished songs"- i do like this song too, this song has grown on me... even though its not the best celine dion/diane warren collaboration that they have ever done (since diane warren has written alot of wonderful songs for celine over the years), i still like this song & i think it has an upbeat & uplifting feeling to it, just like "im alive" & "thats the way it is", & for that reason it should also be in her vegas show as well, celine needs more upbeat & uplifting songs in her shows...

**im not going to write much about the songs from the "deluxe edition" of this album, since i only bought the original edition, the deluxe one isnt available on itunes usa yet:**

14. "lullabye"- which i just dont care for that much @ all, i think it belongs on her "miracle" album instead of lmbtl...

15. "how do you keep the music playing"- another song that i dont really care for, it also should belong on "miracle" instead of lmbtl...

16. "open arms"- i still love this song very much to pieces & celines version is really good too, but since i already have journeys beautiful original version of that song on my ipod, i really dont need celines version of "open arms" on my ipod as well (thats because i dont like buying more than one version of the same song on my ipod, i will only purchase the best version of each song i like instead of wasting my hard earned money on multiple versions of the same damn song lol)...

-here are the songs that i still like & still have on my ipod nowadays & i think should be performed in vegas: lmbtl, somebody loves somebody, incredible, water & a flame, breakaway, thankful, thank you, & unfinished songs...

-songs that are ok but not her best @ all: didnt know love, save your soul, & always be your girl...

- songs that dont belong on this album @ all & also should be replaced in her vegas show since they all have their time in the sun by now: overjoyed, at seventeen, lullabye, how do you keep the music playing, & even open arms, though i like that song, it needs to be retired from vegas now after 3 years, just like w/ these other songs, time for her to move on...

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

in my honest opinion, i think that lmbtl is still a good album w/ some really good songs on it, its not my favorite celine album such as "falling into you", "the colour of my love", "unison", & "a new day has come" are, they are my all time favorite celine dion albums, but "loved me back to life" is still good in its own right, except for the vegas cover songs that shouldnt be on this album...

what i think that sony & celine should have done was made 2 separate albums: in 2011 after celine started her vegas show & recorded the vegas cover songs for her album, those songs should have been a part of an album dedicated to her vegas show, just like she did w/ "a new day: live in las vegas" that she did w/ her "a new day" show, the vegas covers could have been a part of an album called "celine the show: live in las vegas" (or something else similar to that title, thats just an example lol), & released that in 2012 before or right around the time that her most recent french album was released... then they should have done another album in 2013 of JUST NEW SONGS ONLY, NO VEGAS COVERS ALLOWED ON IT lol, & kept the good songs on that album: lmbtl the song, sls, breakaway, thankful, sys, incredible, waaf, thank you, & unfinished songs, & added a few more songs, preferably upbeat songs since there were only 3 upbeat songs on the lmbtl album, & lets face it, mostly upbeat songs are what rule the radio & tv these days... well anyway, thats my review & my opinion on the lmbtl album after 6 months of release, thank you all very much my friends & good night, peace out... :) :) :) :)

First of all . My favs from the album r (in order) Breakaway,Lmbtl, didn't know love , SLS,waaf, thankful .

Dislike the most , thankyou, abyg, overjoyed

While u r listening breakaway when u r sad , it brings tears out and recalls those stuffs then u might have a nice sleep after that . Still love this song though and listen to it alllllllll the day.Although it is my fav from the album but celine isnt on her best condition while recording this song, it could be better . 9.25/10

Lmbtl, perfect vocal, strong ballad from the album, nice and should be a smash lead single but unfortunately it is only a small hit. Love it too . Listen to it all the day . But then sometimes i would like to skip it to 0.52 , it really did bring me back to life starting from there, definitely . And i wish that celine can add a heart breaking long screaming after the high notes

9.75/10

DKL,a pure scent of sweetness at the begining transforms to something that i think it is cruel, harsh and remind me of staying tough . Love to listen to it while my mind is blank, without any thoughts. 9.5/10

So we're coming up to 6 months since the release of Celine's latest English album "Loved Me Back To Life." I thought this would be a great time to re-visit our reviews from release time. I also mostly agree with your critique too

My favorite tracks were Didn't know love and Loved me back to life, I would mostly listen tracks 1 to 7 then there was a short time i'd listen to tracks 2,3,4,6 or 2,3,6 to listen to the more uptempo side of the album and now i only play track 2, Somebody loves somebody :P idd it should be a summer single...

(oh and i never loved incredible but it would have been a great "christmas" single as i was saying in december)

I still listen to LMBTL with pleasure. For me, it's definitely one of her best English albums.

I still think that Somebody Loves Somebody or Save Your Soul (Rap Version) should be released for this summer! It would be a hit for sure in Quebec...at least!! :)

I actually consider Loved Me Back to Life her best work since Falling into You. She's never been this experimental in an English studio album. Taking Chances was a nice try, but half of the album was prettty weak to my ears. A New Day Has Come was a good comeback after a brief hiatus. Awesome vocals, great production, but I'm not a huge fan of the general theme of the album.

On Loved Me Back to Life, Celine used her instrument to its full potential. Her singing has never been more soulful. I enjoy the smokey production of Water and a Flame and Didn't Know Love. The freshness of the title track, Somebody Loves Somebody, Incredible, and Save Your Soul (particularly the LP version with Malcolm Kelley), the edginess of Breakaway, and the classic Celine that made her one of the best selling artists of all time (Thank You, Thankful, Always Be Your Girl, Unfinished Songs). The covers were pretty good, especially At Seventeen and How Do You Keep the Music Playing. The weaker tracks are Overjoyed, Lullabye (Good Night, My Angel), and Open Arms.

Still enjoying the album and still believes that this is easily THE best female album of 2013 (at least from a veteran artist :P )
