This could be good for album promotion in the US. Hope it'll be broadcast on tv - or (what i'd prefer) it'll be released on dvd. Don't care what she wears, if it's an hour long or two hours, duets or no duets, only new album tracks or a mixture - AS LONG AS IT'S VOCALLY LIVE. I've never minded certain notes being lipped (we all know which ones!), but i really hate the tv specials that aren't live. The best bits for me is when she's talking/answering questions etc. But i want to hear her sing - she is a singer after all!!!!!!

I've not got high hopes for this "announcement" but, let's say, middle hopes!

 

Good luck to everyone in the US who's entering. Hope there's a similar thing for the UK in the future - as we're not included in the Europe shows this year.

Bravo for the new approach and so happy for u.s fans on the east coast... But the announcement was in bad taste and handled/promoted totally wrong by sony u.s/canada as it gave the impression of something huge and global for all fans to enjoy. To make up for it they could always stream 1 or 2 performances live for fans globally ( if they dont have technical issues ofcourse...) lame!

 

I do think that when shes in london that she should do the same thing at the roundhouse in camden as its getting so popular and huge artists have recently done intimate gigs there, most recently jt! It would be great that if she is going to italy or spain for promo that she did the same for fans... Fingers crossed!!! :P

Looking more and more like "invite" only AND must live in the tri-state area of New York. Sad to see Pandora narrowing the fan selection process based on such a small demographic area

I'm sorry that so many fans are disappointed, but I live in NY, so i think this is AMAZING! Also, my guess is that this will be televised so we'll all be able to see it - and this is just the type of show people have been asking for for ages - small and intimate.

 

I emailed Edison Ballroom to see if tix will be available for purchase, but haven't heard back yet.

 

Btw, I do think this is the first real concert - outside of the Taking Chances tour - that Celine has done in the US outside of Vegas since she started there in '03, so it doesn't really seem unfair to me. Vegas is the complete opposite side of the country (over 5 hr plane ride) from NY so it's not like everyone here can see her whenever they want.

Could you please tell us if you get any information about tickets.. I have a question.. for the fans who are underage and lives in nyc will they get the chance to see the show live? cause i'm one of them and i'm dying to see her live and this seems like the closest chance i have.

If you read the rules regarding the sweepstakes and the articles about it you have to be 21 to be in attendance. Which sucks considering I am a few months shy of being 21.

I'm tired of her team. Why the hell did they think that a small, local concert should be presented as a big announcement, especially when their basic posts are directed to a global fan base? How hard would it be to simply say ''US fans, prepare for something big. More details soon.''? I'm sure my 10 years old cousin could do it if I asked him to write a post on FB informing people about a US concert. No need to mention that this move will not be significant for the promotion of the album or even her career. :rolleyes: I can hardly call it big. Just a great experience for some US fans with no impact whatsoever. As it happened with ''Une Seul Fois'' which was a good show with no impact for the album it promoted. Anyway, I don't see why anyone outside US should care about this ''intimate concert''. I'm not even looking forward to a DVD release from this night because her DVD releases usually suck as they are edited to the point of sounding lifeless. One more thing is that I fail to understand how a technical issue yesterday prevented them from announcing this upcoming concert. It makes no sense. They simply used a lame excuse, cause they could never come up with something either smart or honest. Because they suck. I'm just going to wait for the final product to come, I'm done expecting big things from these morons. Edited by LukeD

This is definitely an interesting concept - I think the venue/vibe of the show will be really cool and more hip in line with the album's overall feel.

 

My issue with this is the criteria by which you get tickets. 5 people will win a pair of tickets from celinedion.com. Lame. Based on the press release the rest will be: "passionate fans that have added a Celine Dion station on Pandora, are located in the New York Tri-State Area and are age 21 and over." I get the fact that there has to be a bit of a constraint on the location and age (since it's a club and there will be alcohol sold), however, to say that the "passionate fans" are the ones who added a Celine station on Pandora is a bit ridiculous. I know a lot of people have stopped using Pandora and have switched to Spotify and I for one do not rely on Pandora for my Céline fix when I have thousands of tracks in my iTunes. There should be other ways to get tickets - even if it's just an additional "lottery" through celinedion.com (other than the 5 "grand prize" winners), "premium tickets" you can purchase with a meet & greet attached (this would also allow people who wanted to travel from other states/countries to get tickets), etc.

 

Hopefully, more will come out on this in the next few days.

 

I guess for now, the only thing to do is to create a Celine station on Pandora and hope for the best... :shrug:

Do we know about other artists who have worked with Pandora for these intimate shows? We might get more of a feel on how it's going to work if we look at past concerts..

At first I mistakenly thought it was decided on a whim by Celine since the topic has been brought up in recent interviews, but it turns out it's a partnership with Pandora so it must have been in the works for awhile

We need a proper video of this afterwards for everyone too see. Maybe everyone can't be there, but everyone should be able to see it.

 

Though, this is good news, it's not huge news. Huge news would be announcing a World Tour again. But I am happy for whoever gets to go and enjoy this. I just hope everyone else will some time later too.

I know this announcement was handled poorly, and i know a lot of people are upset and disappointed, but I'm sort of freaking out here, because I am over 21, live in the Tri-State area, and have a Pandora station called "Celine Dion radio," where I give "thumbs-up" to Celine songs all the time (except that just the other day I gave a "thumbs down" to the Live in Las Vegas MHWGO version cause I wanted them to stop playing songs from that album -- i NEVER would have done that if i knew about this concert!). But my station was named after Celine, Celine was my very first "seed" on the station when I started it 2.5 years ago, and I"ve thumbed-up 15 Celine songs (i just counted! they mostly play the singles, so that's a lot!)

 

I think I might have a shot at a Pandora invite . .anyone know how many they're giving out or when it's going to be announced? Totally hyperventilating about something I didn't even know existed 24 hours ago!!!!

 

But I do wish more of the fans in other locations had a fair shot at this, too . . hopefully she'll do more of this type of concert in other cities soon!

UGH - i just realized the THE Celine Dion station, not "a' Celine Dion station. I just happened to name my station "Celine Dion Radio." Argh -- what is THE Celine dion station and how do you add it??? I never cared before about the ins and outs of Pandora -- now this is driving me crazy!!!
