Before they target top 40, why not target HOT AC or Adult Top 40; stations where acts like Train, Matchbox 20, Adele, etc are at the top of the charts; LMBTL would fit in quite well there... and then, get Seacrest on the West to play the Song and Z100 on the East to play it by having her visit the station. I can't for the life of me understand why Rene/Sony don't see this---or maybe they do, and are waiting.

 

I do remember in 2007, Taking Chances really taking off after the American Music Awards performance, I think reaching like #22 on the iTunes chart, as it's seen by about 7-10 million people. I would LOVE for her to do that show this November (perfect timing!) but she'll be Eurpoe .

 

Hopefully she does something with similar numbers; X-factor USA or, preferably the Voice

Actually, it makes perfect sense and logical. Even Sony has to know that Top 40 radio will not play Celine songs.

 

Sorry but it doesn't make sense to me : what's the point in recording a song like this written by Sia ( who had 2 real big hits last year : Titanium and DIamonds) and to stick to AC radios?

 

I don't think she did just because she liked the song.

 

Just sayin'.

 

And let's face it : if she can't get a hit with this song, she'll never get one anymore.

 

Also I can't believe that this song isn't played by any radio anywhere : I mean onLy 1 play in the UK? Not even the smallest local radio without any impact? Not only in the UK but everywhere...

The song is NOT underperforming.

 

It isn't receiving any airplay whatsoever anywhere outside of the US, she hasn't performed the song on any television show other than once on an 11:30pm show, watched by 2 million people.

 

I told you guys before the song was released not to get your hopes up - she isn't a singles artist, and never has been, yet you persist on holding her to a higher commercial standard than she's capable of meeting these days.

 

Take comfort in the likelihood that she will climb back into the top 40 this week after performing on Ellen.

I'm hoping for that too!

With Zero promotion there, I'd say it was expected. Although there are a number of promotions set up for the US and Canada, nothing is there for Europe as of now. She'll probably promote the album instead of the single here

Those are good news! Apparently it debuted at #1 on Belgium Wallonia's Ultratip Chart, where "Taking Chances" had peaked at #29 so yeah, call it the "Without Waiting" effect!

The UK position is disastrous regardless of promotion/any circumstances - the song will almost certainly crash out of the UK charts next week, and will thus become her least successful UK chart entry of all-time.

 

Unless a miracle happens, the era is off to a bad start in the UK - I have heard nothing about Sony sending this for adds to UK radio yet, no promotion of any kind whatsoever other than the occasional UK blog mention.

They should have paid some attention, at least the single is current and cool.

 

I think it might be that there is no promotion at all in the UK. So general public don't know about the song. >_<

Extremely disappointing start but without much promo or airplay we can't expect much more!!

I think this song is amazing , so maybe it will take time before it takes off!

I still haven't heard it even once on radio here in Ireland :-(

Hopefully promo this week will help bring it back up the charts!
