I actually like Bonnie's song this year. It's definitely better than the UK's last 'effort'.

 

Still, I'd love to see ESC 2014 in Rome.

So we'd be able to make complete fools of ourselves once again. I wish that was true, but TVP needs to stop treating this contest as something they are forced to participate in and start sending quality songs.

Besides, if we were to believe rumours, Poland will be out next year too. I don't think Europe will see Poland participating in the contest anytime soon.

But Poland has really placed nice songs, especially back in the 90s. They should find nice songs and good performers. Actually, Spain had a great idea in not letting the public vote anymore for their choice, as most people voted for the artist which would make a fool of themselves in the competition. If you had seen some of the Top 5 vote getters a couple of years ago, you must have gone :mellow:.

I gotta check out Italy, the artist has a lot of energy flowing towards him on eurovision.tv.

 

EDIT: oh I had already checked out Italy, I even commented to it refering to it as the Polish entry. Hehe. I got confused when you posted it Jeff.

Can't wait for the weekend! You know, I'm not European but I've followed the contest through TVE International since the early 90s. Just love the show, and love when there are segments introducing the countries, culture, main cities, etc. And now that I live in Europe, I'm a bigger fan.

I am not as exited as I thought I would be (since Sweden is the host) this year. Maybe it's coz I don't care wheter we'll win or not, since we won last year. But I should be exited that it's here though, yet I feel blasé. I don't know, perhaps it's because of the host town. But would I be more interested if it was Stockholm? No clue...

I was happy when I heard Bonnie Tyler will represent UK, but the song didn't really impress me. It's not bad, but I think she deserves something stronger. I remember I had the same feeling few years ago when Patricia Kaas was selected to represent France. I LOVE her! She is such a classy singer and artist. But I was disappointed with the song little bit. However I did vote for her that year.

It's odd to see such big names in music industry being surpassed by some unknown singers from different corners of Europe.

Btw. I forgot to tell that one of my friends will sing tonight for Croatia. He is a part of the group that will represent my country. He will be first from the right on the stage

 

 

Croatian song has a more traditional sound this year. It's a typical traditional way of singing in Dalmatia and the coast and it's called "klapa". I'm not sure if I like it or not. It's a nice song, but I don't think it's a right thing for Eurovision. And I think that's general opinion in my country. I guess they want to promote our tradition more than to win the contest. But then we had much worse songs in the contest.

Only thing is that our song sounds more like Il Divo than the real "klapa", which should be sung a capella.

It's rather nice to see the contest in this smaller format. They couldn't really strech it any bigger than it has become these last years. The arena is quite cozy. Scaled down yet classy. I especially love the lamps in the cieling.

 

And of cours Lynda Wodruff is a joy to see!

 

And I am glad that two of my favs Ireland and The Netherlands made it into the finals.

Excellent show! I loved everything: stage, postcards, great presenter, humour,... Well done! And I like this smaller format of Eurovision. Less is more!

 

I'm not sure if I liked the songs though (some of them were really awful)... I can't really say which one is my favorite. I guess Denmark will win (not bad, but it sounds like a mix of all winners in last decade). The Netherlands is good, Belgium is quite okay (would be better with different singer), Estonia maybe...
