I haven't checked the other songs, but I guess it makes sense that they took the audio from the first night at Bercy if they weren't going to take the time to listen to all the different performances...

 

All the songs are from the 25th, just compared them all to the YouTube recordings.

YES, that's the spirit. Let's rubbish the whole live album because the mixing of one word is not up to everyone's high standards. Just out of interest: Once you have been told what the sound engineer's name is, will you hunt them down ? Will you torture them because of this crime committed against humanity ?

 

This attitude is just silly. Wait and see - and if you think the mix is so terribly bad, then don't buy it!

Totally agree. The freaking album isn't even out yet officially and people are already ripping it apart?

Although, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, it seems like half the time there's someone who just has to complain about something.

Can't you people just be greatful we have a dvd/cd at all? I know I am.

 

Sorry for freaking out like I did, I just hate all the negativity that goes on around Celine.

It sounds pretty close to the original to me, the 'everyTHING' wasn't sung perfectly here. It's much easier to spot these differences in the raw vocal when all the background noise you hear in bootleg videos has been removed. I can't hear any obvious traces of autotune on these Paris vocals, any anomalies are more likely to be Celine being slightly off than any pitch-correcting error...

Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm a music producer and I can tell they screwed up with the autotunes in many many parts. It's really unprofessional... like they already did with ABM and TPOL in the TCWT dvd (which is obvious and really unflattering), and as some of you pointed out here in CNQR... same thing happens with the "Everything REALLY meant to change. "

 

While in the bootleg she was slightly pitchy on the "THING", on the cd they autotuned the wrong part... which was the word "REAlly" which has been pitched 2 semitones up to a D#, thus altering the original melody. while in the concert Céline sung correctly the C#. Just compare the bootleg with the audio from the cd and it's obvious.

 

And I haven't listened to the entire cd but I'm afraid there are a lot of cases like this. Someone who doesn't really know about music is post-producing all these live releases. It's really embarrassing!

Maybe what you sensed was my own disappointment with the mixing team.

Anyways, I was just trying to prove my point. But anyone's free to believe, think and feel as they please I still love this release and whoever doesn't care about certain details will find it even more attractive.

And that's why I don't like the first 5 or 6 tracks from the TCWT!!! I was wondering why does the dvd sound like that while in concert Celine sounds amazing!!! I remember when I saw her in concert, it was pretty similar to A New Day... a beautiful voice!

This is frustrating, I was writing a review of the cd/blu ray, but the browser interpreted my backspace command as 'previous page'. What MORON of a programmer did come up with this idea. Backspace should just mean 'erase text' and NOTHING more. It happens now and then, also in hotmail and then you lose your freaking text. If I want to go back a page I just click on the arrow! You would think Firefox designers wouldn't be as stupid as their Internet Explorer colleagues, but clearly they are when it comes to this.... anyway.....

 

attempt # 2, this time using good old fashioned Word:

 

I listened to the entire cd’s and the first half of the bluray. Before I listened to the cd’s I made a playlist with the bonus songs from Paris in their right position and the best bootlegs out there of Immensité, Where Does My Heart Beat Now and At Seventeen also where they belong in the setlist. I would really recommend this as it gives a complete experience of Quebec, Antwerp and Paris.

 

The sound quality is much more live and alive as the other Julie Snyder productions. It is really good, except for Qui Peut Vivre Sans Amour?, which is a little bit too ‘live’; it sounds like a bootleg with the music far too loud and Celines voice too much in the background. This is also the same on the bluray (which has Dolby TrueHD sound by the way).

 

The sound quality of the Paris songs is even better. And of course vocally Celine sounds better on these tracks. Especially Regarde-Moi! Wow!

 

On another critical note: I really don’t understand why they put the ENTIRE speech of Lac…(can’t remember the rest of the name, it’s on the tip of my tongue) on the cd, including the introduction of the Mayer. That is a waste of space, it’s already there on the bluray/dvd, so it’s not necessary to put it on the cd as well…and it would have made space for Immensité…. Also the dialogue of Eddy and Nelson with Celine before La Mer Et L’enfant can be heard in its entirety. It really sounds strange when you don’t see the images…. I think this is just a case of laziness (again..) from the producers/mixers’ part…..

 

 

Vocally, the weakest songs are L’amour Existe Encore, All By Myself, PQTME (her voice sounds tired here, but the great arrangement of her band makes this track still very memorable). Also Le Miracle is clearly inferior to her crystal clear Antwerp performance.

 

But this is definitely the best live album since Live à Paris. It even beats Live à Paris (VHS/DVD) when it comes to the setlist, but it would be an exaggeration to say the vocals are on the same level as the 90’s, although Regarde-Moi is the exception here, because it is EVEN MORE superior than the LAP-version. (that is, after the first listen. I might end up concluding that the LAP version is still the best, but I don’t feel that way now).

 

But these are definitely the best vocals of a live album in the 21^st century. That's for sure!

 

If I would have been in charge, I would have put Une Seule Fois on the Bluray/dvd, with bonus tracks from Antwerp/Paris, and the Antwerp/Paris concerts on the cd, mixed with the ‘Quebec only’ tracks in their right position of the setlist. Her European mini tour was Celine in her best shape, and it really deserved a live album. But… I am very happy with this release nonetheless.
