"Unfinished Songs" - Theme song from the movie "Song for Marion"

Well if the movie has been re-renamed to 'Song For Marion' again...then technically, the song 'Unfinished Songs' has nothing to do with the movie.

So I reckon there's a big chance there won't be a bond between the song and the movie anymore... we'll find out in a few days!

Some news. Don't shoot the messenger -- UPDATED WITH CONFIRMATION FROM DIANE WARREN!

 

First, the so-so news: The movie has been pushed back in the US. Now it will release on June 21, 2013. So, UK fans will have it on Blu-ray by the time we get it in cinemas here in the US. However, if the film proves to be unpopular, the distributer could simultaneously release it digitally which has been happening a lot lately.

 

And now, the possibly horriffic news: Celine's song has been left off the Official Motion Picture Soundtrack that is releasing in the UK on Feb 25th. No mention of Celine or Diane...

While it's not a good sign so far, there is hope! This version of the album is only releasing overseas so the song may be included in the US pressing presumably releasing closer to June - which they'll have to make anyway due to the different title of the film here. In fact, I would not be surprised if the film is re-edited for American audiences (ex. The Boat That Rocked became Pirate Radio in the US and the entire beginning of Trainspotting was redone due to the thick Scottish accents). If that becomes the case, there may be different songs, scenes, etc. that would call for a soundtrack with a different tone or mood.

It seems that even the people working on this movie release don't know what's going to happen... so the celinedion.com can't say much either at this time. Nothing is decided for the US. This mess of a movie is probably what got Céline's album pushed back too...

I think the song with Neyo would be the perfect choice to be the first single.

In some ways I disagree as there have been a number of British Produced films over the years that have been very successful at the Box Office. Films such as 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels', 'Full Monty' - these all pulled in a decent audience without the huge CGI effects budget etc. I am just keeping my fingers more than crossed that we get to hear the song as the credits roll on Friday! x

Hmmm I listened it 3 times in a row. Does that mean I liked it? I'm not crazy for Mariah Carey and never been a fan, but I liked this. It's catchy

 

Now I just can't help to think what leads people to give Céline a song for a movie about the elderly, and why the movie industry prefers Mariah to sing the theme for a movie addressed to young people It's not that I would have liked Céline to be in this movie about the wizard of Oz, but come on, who doesn't miss the 2002 days when she was asked to do Stuart Little and I'm Alive was played everywhere?

I think we shouldn't compare Mariah and Céline when it comes to the music. They are somehow different worlds in my opinion. I was never fan of Mariah because her music never impressed me. Nor her way of singing and her style in general. This song is not bad though.

 

What concerns me here is that Céline's music is getting little bit predictable While Mariah's song gives something new, the snippet that we heard from "Unfinished Songs" is definitely not fresh. Maybe I'm wrong and and maybe I should listen the entire song, but I doubt it would be so much different and original in the same time.

What if there was a movie for Snow White and the Huntsman 2 and Celine did the soundtracksong... or what if Celine sang the titletrack for say, Bridget's Jones Diary 3... then we are talking. To me this movie sounds like it will be released on dvd very soon. It is the kind of movie I would not buy a ticket for and maybe sometime rent it in the library for free. Some movies are not worth watching in cinema, and can easily be seen on your television, this is one of them I think.

I agree that they can't be compared. However, I can't say that "Almost Home" is something new and different from Mariah. It's a typical pop song. Catchy melody, cheesy lyrics. Don't get me wrong, I like the song, I just don't think it's groundbreaking.

 

Also, I find the production of this song to be distracting. The song leaked yesterday and I didn't believe it was Mariah. The auto tune is extremely noticeable in the beginning.

Well, I'm no crazy fan of "Stuart Little" for sure but I think "Biccential Man" is great and as it has been told earlier it's good for promotion I think 'Then You Look At Me' is a fantastic song. I also love Celine's soundtracks from 'Ma nouvelle France' and 'Asterix and the vikings'. I still haven't seen 'Peanut Butter Solution' though What about you, guys?.. Anybody saw this "Solution"?..

Sooo guys, the movie premieres tomorrow in Ireland!!!!!!!!!!! I looked it up on some Irish cinema websites and it is called "song for marion"... not "unfinished song". However, I really hope that the Celine song will be included in the movie.
