I don't know. I'm not even sure if what I said is factual cause I haven't confirmed it. It's just something that I heard. It's a rumor that Celine distanced herself from R Kelly once he was accused of child abuse.

Exactly Luke, but besides, this song has no rythm at all. It's slow. It's dull. It's tasteless. Does it have any music?? Its boring and dull to death. It's a snooze fest that repets during 4 minutes all the time

 

If only we were talking about a powerful cover, like IDAN was in 2003! But what's this?

 

For some reason, I think the lack of rythm is due to the singers' voices. I think Celine will be able to add some melodic lines, also the song might sound better as a solo version. I don't really like the lyrics though, they're forgettable, in my opinion.

I actually see the song itself for a good skeleton for Celine to musically build up and work off of. Sure the original is muted and a bit dull, but I see real potential for her to insert fiery emotion and soar vocally and get down low vocally. She can add the "fiery" and the "watery" aspects of her voice and really convey a powerful emotion. I just hope it doesn't seem contrived or glossed over...

I can't agree more with you. And what pisses me off the most, it's not only the covers thing, it's the absolute LACK of ambition and creativity in which her career has stagnated

 

Release a cover after 5 years? Doing a show full of covers and her same old 5 hits? That's the easiest thing they could do - and the most UNchallenging

i think she needs fans like us (the pessmistic ones, the ones who hazards humanity) as well as fans who suooprt her no matter what, the former makes her improve herself, and the later keeps her singing all the way.

 

is wanting her coming with new (even if it sucks, at least its new) stuff selfish? are we asking her to get water from the moon? shouldnt the audience have any expections for the performer?

 

if you are so selfless, you can just donate your money to her mailbox to help paying her checks. because we shouldnt ask her to do anything, we should be so pleased with her existance alone. even if she decides to sleep on stage for the whole show, we should be grateful for that too, because thats being selfless, thats being asking for nothing at all, right?

Here's the problem: All the pessimistic fans are ruining these forums for me. There are other message board forums that I'm on with people who share my same musical, entertainment, etc., interests, and people do express both negative and positive opinions. Still, I greatly enjoy the conversation and I never feel overwhelmed by other people's opinions and it never brings me down when I'm excited about something new.

 

Here... There is so much overwhelming negativity that, even when I get excited, by the time I read a few posts later, I feel like I'm drowning in negativity and my excitement just goes out the window. Sharing differing opinions is one thing, but when I feel less excited about my all time favorite artists and less interested after reading posts on this board, that's another.

You shouldn't assume that everyone who is looking forward to this project is in fact a mindless robot who only reacts positively to any decision Celine makes. People have varying tastes, and that in fact many of us genuinely look forward to this album

 

It reminds me of the very vocal haters of the new Vegas show. They whined and whined and at one point even insisted that their opinion was the opinion of the majority. Then one person sent in a complaint (with the support of the vocal minority) to a person of importance on behalf of the entire forum of fans, when it was far from representative of most of us. In the end, the new show ended up getting her the best critical reviews of her career AND the general fan feedback was very positive (although many of us preferred that she sang less covers).

 

PS it's funny that I'm now being labeled as part of the "positivity brigade" when I criticize Celine all the time.

if you read about taking chances, youll see the song was originally recorded and written by kara dioguardi and the guy she formed a duo with. although they recorded it for what was supposed to be their album, the album was never even released. they decided to submit and play the song for rene who loved it and gave the song for celines album. i guess technically you could say its a cover, but in my opinion barely because it was never even officially released to the public by any means. and most songs written for celine (or any other artist for that matter) are recorded by the writer to present a rough cut of what it sounds like.

 

thats the info i could find regarding taking chances. so yeah i agree that a real cover proabably should be something more well-known. and i dont think this scenario is at all. hehe. water and a flame probably not so much, either most of america will for sure think its a brand new song.

same with Alone?? Alone is a very very well known song by Heart. When I was a child I already heard that song on the radio. It is one of the so called classics of popmusic, so when I heard Celine was gonna release that song I was like...oh oh don't cover a too familiar song or make it orginal! I have to say, on the album it was not fantastic , but in the tour I really liked it. But to many people it is a sin too cover that song because the original version is the best.
