I Love You Posted July 13, 2011 at 05:48 AM Posted July 13, 2011 at 05:48 AM So, has it been confirmed?
Raevaz Posted July 13, 2011 at 06:33 AM Posted July 13, 2011 at 06:33 AM That info was posted earlier in this thread I believe, so I don't think this is an official confirmation.
riobeard11 Posted July 13, 2011 at 06:40 AM Posted July 13, 2011 at 06:40 AM This thread makes me laugh .... Yup!
artekoublier Posted July 13, 2011 at 10:03 AM Posted July 13, 2011 at 10:03 AM (edited) guys don't get ''too excited'' as we know only to well that things can change and fans then get disappointed... so lets keep an open mind and fingers crossed for 2morro Ire23, I believe everyone should keep an open mind, because the more hopes and built up, the bigger the wake left behind when they are broken. As per my own post, even I don't know what gonna come out of the album...just juding by what has hapened in the past we can make a somewhat educated guess, also taking into account some of the writers for the album. If anything, I'd love to be pleasantly surprised by what she does next, tis why I have no hope at all Well I couldn't agree more. I've spent the last 5 years saying that she needs to do NEW things desperately, that a new and fresh boost is urgently needed in her career. That's why I defended the spanish project, the dance/uptempo album and all that. I really think her career is so blocked now, that she never abandons her comfort zone (with ballads/covers) yet she tries to give the image of a singer in evolution, but the facts say other thing. And she's totally living from the things she did in the past . Constantly. If we compare to the career she had before her 2000 break, after that, nothing remarkable has been done in almost a whole decade, except for a great comeback with a great album and to be the artist who broke records with a marathonian show during 5 years (if that can count to her favour ). She had a pair of great awards given this decade and some TV award appearances (Oscars and Grammys), but the fact that she's more called to participate in tributes and memorials or to present awards to others rather than to perform her own material is something significative of her current situation: she has more a passive position in the industry than an active role, and that said of an artist who has built such a huge career and has defended her music with such enthusiasm in the past, that honestly saddens me Yes, it was HER decision, it was her choice to start her own family and dedicate the most of the time to them, and I'm nobody to question that. However, since I'm here because of her music, and being as much unbiased as I can, we can't deny that her career could have been managed in a more efficient way during all these years. With OR without her word. Because if I'm not wrong, she has a big team behind her, or she used to have a big gang of people with her. But they've not supported her career the way they did in the past, and with the same level of quality. At least not in the way many fans here expected I don't think things change in the near future. Yes we'll have hopefully new albums and new music, but where will be the passion, the dedication, and above all, the feedback with the fans to know what we expect in the future? I'm not sure about that. Not in vain we have an interesting song which is more biographical than ever:(Je Ne Vous Oublie Pas) Just read behind the lines Thanks for your whole-hearted reply Javito, it means alot I don't think anyone can pull into question her starting her own family, no one would begrudge her that, or anyone for that matter. Its perhaps easier to go into older routines and exercises, like singing the same kind of songs ect, now that she has 3 added pressures...angelic pressures. We all know that she doesn't exercise her voice as musch as she should now with the twins and RC to look after, which is why she's maybe going to do what's best, letting her music take more of a "back seat".I also think that things probably won't change either...I have little pockets of hope here and there, but certainly nothing monumental. It'd be easy to say I love everything she does...and it part I do...but as previously said, let's see what comes out of this "information" It's hard to think that they don't support her any more in the same way, probably because they have possibly moved on to newer and more mainstream artists. Which makes me think of a funny thing...once, when I was in a store I came across a music section, and to my surprise Céline was in the "Easy Listening" section, which at the time infuriated me because that's where all the artists that never do anything different go. But here we have her full career where , yes, she may have stepped up at certain points, but never strayed far from what she always does. Now I don't seem that angry about it. People had also said, on this thread I think about her going "back to her roots" with the same writers, its not the same as going back to your personal roots. Music roots perhaps a little. It's like when Dolly Parton released "Little Sparrow" it was all the kinda songs you would have heard her in her singing in her youth with her parents etc. Also i thik that Rene, still as her manager should have at least given some other people the job of managing her for the mainstream, it could partly also be his own fault. He's dong the same things he's always done, get her a good album, get her a brilliant gig, then get a few more albums and a place where she can gig til she drops. It's too much comfort I think. Step away from the game guys and take a fresh look at your options You guys are going on again.......................................................... lets just wait for the info then we can complain The things yo are saying are soo true but we cant say a thing untill we know the facts of the new album Im excited, i dont know about you guys kev x Yes I'm also partially excited, but I still have my opinoin. Not everything she does is "angel dust", I'm trying to be open here. I do strongly believe in letting information coming to light before judging which is why I said, jusdging on past desicions that we can only deduce that things will probably be the same, that is all.For me it's a personal thing...it's starting to look to other artists for inspriration and musical joy. Maybe that's why i seem all "unhopeful" about the new album. I'll quote myself again, just incase anyone missed it. Feel free to disagree and argue as much as you desire, at the end of they day it's just an opinion, same as yours. Edited July 13, 2011 at 10:17 AM by artekoublier

Step away from the game guys and take a fresh look at your options I've always thought 50% of the problem is because of René. I mean he's been her manager since she was 13, and that was in the 80's. Music industry has changed dramatically and things that he used to do when Céline was 20 maybe don't work now in 2011. I'm not saying he should retire, but he should have made way to other people with new ideas and fresh motivation to make Céline's career move on and develop . Also, I believe that if her current career is stuck in the past I'm sure it's mainly because of René, not Céline. He's like restraining her all the time from carrying out Céline's ideas Edited July 13, 2011 at 12:24 PM by Javito "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

He never retired or left the showbusiness for over 40 years. Its not like he was manager in 80s and 90' stopped for 15 years and came back. No, he has been soaked in it for ever. I think he knows much better than any other young manager of young pop stars. I don't think his age is a risk factor either. Unless he has become senil, suffer from alzheimer or any other health issue, he is still the best manager for her. He's been taking risks for ever, and i think thats why he is still at the top of his game. Just think of Taking Chances and Las Vegas. We might not like vegas, but its the only way for her to have stability for her little family and please her fans at the same time. People say she needs to get out of her confort zone and sing other stuff, well thats what she did with taking chances album ( even if it wasnt performed much in concerts) thats because celine is for most people the best powerballad singer on earth. People expect ballades, i expect it. Would you want britney spears to sing its all coming back to me now? Or nickleback singning like a virgin? Or barbra streinsand singning bad romamce? No. Celine needs to go back to her sources, where her power is at, and at the place she once was the best singer in the world in her category. Enough with the pop ( one heart) the lullabies (miracle) and the edgynest (taking chances). Even if these are great amazing albums they will never top a TCOML, FIY or LTAL-type of album. joaofilho Posted July 13, 2011 at 02:31 PM Posted July 13, 2011 at 02:31 PM I think the blame is not René, observe the albums such as One Heart and Taking Chances are different than Celine usually do, I think the problem is to be in the decisions on which singles release, disclosure, as it is in Vegas with shows every week did not have time to promote the CD, see what they are talking about it will lannçar the album on Nov. 21, if that even she will have no time to disclose why it has to return to Vegas to their shows in late December. These are decisions that I think they err, the same choices of singles, she released Taking Chances in the singles wrong, always cover the other singers, maybe this is the bug.I heard this new composer Kay the Koran, he is very good, the sound of it is classic, new and fresh is what needs to Celine, I hope this new cd, they have picked the right singles.

Enough with the pop ( one heart) the lullabies (miracle) and the edgynest (taking chances). Even if these are great amazing albums they will never top a TCOML, FIY or LTAL-type of album. IMO I completely do not believe that at all. Comfort zones is what keeps people comfortable right? Why not show off how great a singer you are and do something different, appeal to a different demographic where you an wow the loyal fans and gains some new ones at the same time.As I've said before, it's the same songs from the same writers and it's going to be the same album. I wholeheartedly agree with what I and Javito said, newer and younger people maybe need to see what they can for her do to appeal to other kinds of people at not just the "loyal" fans to suck up absolutely everything she does. There is going back to her "sources" and then there's becoming stale.I would absolutely love to hear all of those kinda songs, seriously! She can go back to her roots and do the same song again, again and again the same style and the same thing, but it gets to a point where: yeah you've proved your point, you can sing that way, the thing you need to prove is can you be more than the some of your parts? Can you diverse on your musical path?Céline doesn't need to market to these loyal fans because hell and high water, they will buy what she does anyway. As per my previous point gain some new audience by appeal to that demographic and adding in something new to gain gain that audience. Those last 3 albums you mentioned are exactly what I'm talking about...especially FIY, that was her "true" high point, it appealed to a wider demographic. You can hit the same metaphorical mark with the same people again and again, but at some point you need to shy away from that and look for more targets.Madonna and Kylie are prime examples, constant reinvention. Céline did that once...largely we're told, but she's at a point in her life where other things take presidence , and so they should, she's been at it since she was 12, a 2 year break is not enough, and once she comes back she needs to be"fresher" but at this late stage in her life it's seriously a make or break scenario. She couldn't even take a longer break because, even though she's not mainstream, she'll vanish...because she's not new or shiny anymore.Rene can flutter away and get her the same writers, book the same places for her to perform because it's "comfy". But if she really wasn't to sparkle like she once did, she needs to take a leaf out or a younger artists/producers book and do something similar, but different to keep what she has, but gain at the same time.
spunkransum Posted July 13, 2011 at 02:59 PM Posted July 13, 2011 at 02:59 PM The singles are never released in a good way, for example on Taking Chances. The first song I think they should have released would have been Eyes On Me it's upbeat the whole way through. I know the first time I heard Taking Chances I thought it was to slow and nearly skipped it, Alone shouldn't have been released as a single I mean good lord how many people have covered it? I think if This Time and Surprise, Surprise would have been released as singles the album would have gotten a wider age group. She needs the promotion like with One Heart, the Chrysler comercials made everyone at least know I Drove All Night and Have You Ever Been In Love. I'm not saying do it again, but there has to be something they can do with the songs.
Shamrock_1982 Posted July 13, 2011 at 03:05 PM Posted July 13, 2011 at 03:05 PM Yeah, I think, she should do a worldwide tv advert advertising las vegas as a holiday/party destination, show the sights ( strip, grand canyon, etc ), trailers of a few shows and be the voice over of it with a few of the show songs playing in the background from her show/new album... it sounds cheesy, but how many adverts are on tv right now promoting destinations worldwide, and she is the no.1 show there, and the biggest selling female artist ever... so in a way it would make sense and be great promo for the show, new album and vegas, appealing to everyone who wants to gamble, see a show, see the sights etc etc..... just my two cents
joaofilho Posted July 13, 2011 at 03:11 PM Posted July 13, 2011 at 03:11 PM More as it can release a new album with a new sound, if she's stuck in Las Vegas with a classic show, this is not the time, I do not know, maybe if they changed the style a little bit of the show. I also agree with what you write, more like change if it does not change, is holding the Las Vegas shows, she can never leave it for whenever the presentations for videos, this is getting boring and she's forgotten music no matter where it appears, where you sing, if not throw a single strong will disappear and that's what we're seeing.
zuv Posted July 13, 2011 at 03:16 PM Posted July 13, 2011 at 03:16 PM (edited) @ artekoublier Wellllllll i don't agree with you, cause i know where you are going and i think its for a dance album. Imo celine doesnt fit dance music, although she could and she would be great. I agree with you of getting out of confort zone, but she did it since 2002 with ANDHC ( 1/2 ballades 1/2 pop with fresh music) it was a great album, but then she intensified the diversity and left her confort zones ever since. The only thinng she hasnt done is dance, country ( god forbid she never do that) and maybe jazz. Other than that she has done it all. I dont think dance is her job. Leave it to brit, madonna and gaga. I think she should go back to ballades, reclame her trone, and show Houston, lewis and mariah, that she still owns her title of queen of powerballades. Can be young producers with fresh music. Thats is for sure. Im not asking for a copy-paste of the 90's albums. Can't you realized she hasnt done any powerballades albums in 15 years and that is time to come back to her roots ?! Aaaanyway Edited July 13, 2011 at 03:28 PM by zuv

zuv Posted July 13, 2011 at 03:39 PM Posted July 13, 2011 at 03:39 PM Also, Im wondering how long have you guys been a fan of celine. If you becamce fan because of i'm alive type of song in 2002 or for i drove all night later in the decade, then i can understand. I became fan very young in 1996 with FIY. We have to take that into account as well. We are thousands of different fans, we'll never all agree, but its great this way. As long as celine keeps singing singing and singing

It would be funny if she was in one of the what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Honestly I think doing a role in a movie or a character on a show would do good also, I think she could act. But I don't want her to be like Cher and have a whole list of movies.
zuv Posted July 13, 2011 at 03:49 PM Posted July 13, 2011 at 03:49 PM (edited) But why waste money, time and efforts on tv adds for a sold out show? I think it would sounds disparate. If show is sold out, best ads are people that talk about it, like my uncle and cousins who thought it was the best show ever.If its to prepare the public for an upcoming album than yes...
