Ronny83 Posted June 30, 2005 at 10:02 PM Posted June 30, 2005 at 10:02 PM Here is a great news for Bellamy and the chinese fans: NEW YORK (Reuters) - America Online will license the rights to broadcast Live 8 concerts to a Chinese Internet media company, potentially reaching the world's single largest population, AOL said it would announce on Friday. A unit of Tencent Holdings Ltd. (0700.HK: Quote, Profile, Research) plans to Webcast the concerts to an estimated 20 million viewers on its Web site, http://www.qq.com, for free a few days after the actual concerts take place around the world on July 2. The Webcasts will be translated into Chinese, AOL said. AOL, a unit of Time Warner Inc. (TWX.N: Quote, Profile, Research), owns the exclusive online rights to the concerts in many regions, including North America, the United Kingdom and China. Organized by Irish rocker Bob Geldof, Live 8 is a series of concerts held in Philadelphia, London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Cornwall, Toronto, South Africa and Tokyo to push world leaders to increase aid to poor African countries. Kevin Wall, Live 8's executive producer, said in an interview this week that he expects the broadcasts over television, radio and online to reach some 5.9 billion viewers across the globe, making it the largest entertainment broadcast in history. AOL, the world's largest online service, plans to stream most of the concerts live on http://www.aolmusic.com on July 2. The concerts will also be archived on AOL's Web site. Ronny83 Posted July 1, 2005 at 11:20 PM Posted July 1, 2005 at 11:20 PM Saturday July 2, 08:59 AM AAP Duo to sing The Prayer at Live 8 Australian pop star Tina Arena will perform the song which propelled Australian-idol runner-up, Anthony Callea, to the top of the home charts when she sings at Live 8. Arena will sing The Prayer in a duet with Italian pop-opera singer Andrea Bocelli onstage in Paris, concert organisers have confirmed. The Carole Bayer song became a worldwide hit when the tenor recorded a version of it in 1998 with Canadian singer Celine Dion. But it was Melbourne boy Callea's rendition on Network Ten's talent quest last year that struck a chord with Australian audiences and earned him a Grand Royale touchdown from flamboyant Idol judge Mark Holden. "The Prayer is a beautiful song, emotive and beautifully written," Arena said from her Paris home. "It's a simple lyric and the day I first heard it I was moved to tears - it really is a prayer," she said. The singer, who shot to fame in the 1980s as an eight-year-old on Young Talent Time, said she was looking forward to sharing the stage with Bocelli the man dubbed the fourth tenor. "He's one of the most extraordinary tenors on the planet and as a singer he's incredibly moving." The chanteuse is one of three Australian performers taking part in the star-studded, Live 8 concerts across the world. Fellow Melburnians Jet will rock the stage in Canada, while country star Keith Urban will hit the stage in the United States. Organiser Sir Bob Geldof hopes the gigs will raise awareness of Africa's social and economic problems and put pressure on world leaders ahead of this week's G8 summit in Scotland. Arena, who is expecting her first child, said she jumped at the opportunity to do her bit help stamp out poverty. "Music is a great vehicle to make people understand what goes on outside their world," she said. The free concerts will be held today in London, Paris, Berlin, Moscow, Rome, Philadelphia, Tokyo, Johannesburg and Toronto. Quote The Celine Dion Italian fanbase - CelineDionItalia.com
