You were just barely out from swimming in your dad's sack when this album was released. My point was that this release showcased recordings that were rare, as I said above.

I will NEVER understand the whole deal over this stupid collectors series. Haven't we had enough re-releases of the same crap over and over? How about something new? SORRY, but I don't need The Power Of Love on 43 different discs, unless it is different, and unless it's a live version, I don't care.

 

The Collector's series is a wasted effort. We've had All The Way, My Love, etc....what would this accomplish? Get a bit more gambling money for Rene??

 

Seriously, let's move on to something new. Whether it's a jazz album, a Spanish album, a dance album, a French album, an English album, an album with ballads, or uptempos... I don't care. Just let it be new.

It was an album that reunited some rare tracks in the same CD, tracks that in 2000 were *hard* to get as the Internet downloads weren't as usual as today. To me, it was a nice CD.

 

But seen with today's light, yes, the content its not so special now. But they could have done a better version including 1-2 unreleased songs today. What angers me is that instead of released a second volume the past year or this year, they prefer to do nothing .

 

And after 11 years, we still have no word from Céline or René about what this album was supposed to do in our collections, or what plans do they have wether to continue the "series" or not . Never speaking about HER own music!!

 

 

It was designed to showcase material that wasn't widely released back in 2000----some of those songs many American fans were able to hear for the first time. Granted, the musical world' s a different place now and most songs released can be heard seconds after it's released no matter where it is on the planet. I think another Collectors Series could showcase some unreleased songs or songs that weren't released on CD.

Anyway, I believe the album D'elles was a nice album. But it lacks power.

Ok. Record sales is not the real business of the artists or their managers. I mean, yes, they receive a good amount of money for recording exclusively with one company but only receive a small portion of money raised by sale, so stop saying releasing compilation or any kind of albums is for Celine or Rene to grab money. They do are released to grab money, but for the record companies. That's what they do, that's their job! They need to sell records to have money to pay Celine, Mariah, and all of the groups and singers that work with them. Everything is money guys !! You don't do your job for free !! Why should they??

I think compilations are great for people that doesn't like Celine the way that we do. I mean, I would buy a compilation of Madonna for example, cause I don't care on having all of her discography, but just some songs. And I believe that the record company is the one that make all of the compilations albums and not the artist.

It's true that TCSV1 was not just a compilation album like Javito said, cause it also came with rare songs. But that's the same with ATW, ONCP and TEC. They all include some new and rare songs. The difference is the name of the albums, so I think it would have been too much of them together if they had launched one more before the show. (Even thou, like Javito and Javier_Natalio said, it would be great to have all of the rare and unreleased songs together in one album, like all of the missing Spector tracks ). Now, that she doesn't talk about her own material is not true !! Everytime she releases a new album she talks about it.

Well, Ma Nouvelle France was released as a single (promotional single) on october 2004, promoting the Nouvelle-France movie. It has a video, included on the On Ne Change Pas DVD. Then, Je Ne Vous Oublie Pas was released as the lead single of this album and released between september and october 2005. The video was filmed in Montreal's Imperial Theatre in July 2005, and released September 2005 and it was quite successful. Tous Les Secrets was the second single of the album released on March 2006 and the theme song of the movie Asterix and The Vikings. The music video has parts of the movie and is included on its DVD. And I Believe In You (Je Crois Toi) was the third and last single of the album, released at first, on January 2006 as a radio single in the United States. Then on May 2006 in France and Switzerland and as a radio single in Canada.

It may have been pointless, but it still did pretty well on the charts. It wasn't promoted at all, and still went to #1 in France and was certified gold in like 10 countries. I truly believe though that Sony Music just wanted to milk some more $$ out of Celine when she was on her hiatus, which wasn't even for one year by the time the album came out in October 2000.

I see. But those singles still helped the album sell more. It's really better to include at least 4 singles in a compilation album than none at all.

Best news ever. I know JJG won’t be writing for her cuzz he has other things to do. But Luc is THE best compromise.

 

No other writer will ever be able to satisfy the two conditions: 1) Knowing her for a long time and 2) appreciating her true talent among the tons of GARBAGE she has been producing throughout her whole damn career. Luc fits both.

Well, honestly, I think she's going to record it (or at least some of it) in the next month or so because she doesn't have any show's for the next month and three weeks so I'm sure that she will (and René too!) will take advantage of that time to record something. We'll see!

I agree. She has recorded such amazing songs, but at the same time, some others are garbage (or at least for me).

Après son triomphe dans cette nouvelle aventure de Las Vegas, la star Céline Dion rentrait se reposer en Floride hier avec sa petite famille. René Angélil avoue se sentir libéré « d’une énorme pression ».

 

« Plus de 90 000 spectateurs, provenant de plusieurs pays du monde, sont venus l’applaudir. Elle est au sommet de son art. Ce spectacle, c’est elle, et l’accueil reçu nous fait chaud au cœur. C’est formidable ce retour à Las Vegas », confie l’impresario.

 

Oui à un contrat prolongé

 

Et devant cet énorme succès, René Angélil confirmait hier que les négociations vont bon train pour prolonger le contrat de trois ans au Caesars Palace. « Nous songeons vraiment à ajouter deux autres années. Ça devrait se régler très bientôt. Je suis optimiste ».

 

Il se dit d’autant plus heureux que toute la famille s’est fort bien adaptée à ce nouveau rythme de vie.

 

« Depuis la première du 15 mars, j’ai une grosse brique de pression de moins sur les épaules. Il y avait tant à faire et ce retour, je le voulais parfait. Je crois que nous avons réussi. J’ai assisté à tous les shows et les fans viennent me voir pour me dire à quel point ils trouvent Céline en voix et extraordinaire sur scène ».

 

« Ce sont de merveilleuses retrouvailles. Les jumeaux vont bien ; René-Charles est heureux à Vegas en assistant à ses cours via Skype et en jouant dans une ligue de baseball. Tout le monde va bien et c’est tout ce qui compte » a indiqué d’une voix rassurée le fier papa.

 

Album en français reporté ?

 

Ce retour à Las Vegas lui a permis de renouer avec plusieurs artistes et fidè les de Céline, dont Luc Plamondon qui sera très impliqué dans le prochain album de la star, en français.

 

« Il se peut que nous retardions le lancement de cet opus en français parce que je veux donner plus de temps à Luc. Il y aura d’autres grands noms sur cet album en français qui nous tient très à cœur Céline et moi, dont Jean-Pierre Ferland, Luc et d’autres auteurs-compositeurs en France. Nous travaillons également à un album en anglais. La vie est belle, mais disons qu’après des mois d’efforts, tant pour la naissance de nos jumeaux que pour la préparation de ce spectacle, c’est bon de savourer ce succès et ces belles retrouvailles. Ce repos est bien mérité » conclut un René Angélil comblé qui était de retour à Jupiter Island hier.

I was thinking songs are composed and main problem that album was not recorded yet was Céline had no time to record it, but it seems they changed conception of album and they want more songs from Luc, because in interview from october 2010 René said songs for new french album are slected and are waiting for recording. I really hope they will finished it untill end of this year. BTW Luc is only lyricist, or is he also composer of music?

Going back to The collector's series: Vol 1, I think it really is an amazing album. Let's analyze it song by song:

 

1. The power of the dream

 

It was the first time that this song was released worldwide. It was released before in the asian and australian editions of Falling into you and as the second track of the It's all coming back to me now single, but, as I said before, the song was released worldwide for the first time in this album. If this happened nowadays, we would probably not be as impressed as fans must have been in 2000 because, like some of you said before, internet downloads weren't as common as they are now, but it was an amazing release for the moment.

 

 

2. Where does my heart beat now

 

It's so logical that this song was included in this album since it's Celine's very first hit single in English and it didn't make it to All the way... A decade of song. Apart of rare songs, TCSV1 featured some of Celine's hits that didn't make it to her previous album.

 

 

3. Us

 

I can't find any explanation for this song being featured in this compilation; maybe they decided to include it because it matched the relaxing and soft mood of most of the songs that are part of the album (Falling into you, With this tear or Seduces me, for example). Also, Us is one of the few songs from Let's talk about love that weren't promoted in any way, along with Why Oh Why, Just a little bit of love or Where is the love.

 

 

4. The reason

 

Another hit single by Celine that couldn't make it to her previous album. One of the highlights from Let's talk about love. I can understand why it was featured in this 2000 compilation.

 

 

5. Seduces me

 

I remember during her Falling into you World tour, Celine said that this song was one of her favorite ones from the album. It was even more promoted than some singles from Falling into you, such as Make you happy or Dreamin' of you. (Actually, I'll never understand why these two songs were released as singles)

 

 

6. With this tear

 

This song is one of the most emotional and moving ones from her 1992 album Celine Dion and actually the only one from that album featured in this compilation. I think they decided to include at least one song from each one of her albums except S'il suffisait d'aimerand they chose this one because it was one of the two rarities from the album, along with Did you give enough love. I think that the fact that this ballad was written by Prince played an important role while they were deciding which song from this album should be featured in this 2000 compilation.

 

 

7. Falling into you

 

According to Celine, this song marked a step of her emancipation as an artist. Also, it was the first single from her 1996 album of the same name, so I guess that's the reason why they included it in The collector's series: Vol 1.

 

 

8. Pour que tu m'aimes encore

 

I think this was another way to promote her biggest hit in French: releasing it worldwide. If they wanted to include songs in different languages, it's normal that they decided to feature her biggest French hit in the album.

 

 

9. Ziggy

 

Looks like just one French song wouldn't be enough since this was her native language, so I guess they chose this song from Dion chante Plamondon because of its low and soft mood.

 

 

10. Be the man (On this night)

 

Seeing Celine singing in Japanese is not something that you see often; I think they decided to release this rarity worldwide in this album because it was a true rarity for that time! I think this is one of the highlights from the album.

 

 

11. Tell him

 

Here's one of the duets we can discover in this compilation. It was probably included in the compilation because it was the first single from one of her most successful albums. Also, we can't forget the fact that it's a duet with one of her idols.

 

 

12. The Prayer

 

TH is followed by this incredibly touching duet with Andrea Bocelli. I think this song was featured in the compilation because I'm your angel had already been included in All the way... A decade of song the year before and this was the other duet from These are special times.

 

 

13. Sola otra vez

 

Just like The power of the dream, it was the first time that this song was released worldwide. Although the high note wasn't re-recorded like the rest of the song, it probably let the Spanish-speaking fans discover her multiple faces as a vocalist.

 

 

14. Amar haciendo el amor

 

Another rarity, this time from the European and Canadian editions of LTAL. Celine sings extraordinarily this uptempo and refreshing Spanish ballad.

 

 

15. Only one road

 

The only song from The colour of my love. I think they should have chosen Just walk away instead.

 

 

16. That's the way it is

 

Here's the closing song of the compilation. One of her recordings from the Summer of 1999.

I have HUGE expectations for the forthcoming French LP. With music from Plamondon, it has to be great. I'm sooooo tired of Goldman stuff. Don't get me wrong, I like his work, but it's so overrated in her whole musical spectrum. Plamondon takes us back to the days of Incognito and Des mots qui sonnent. Thank God!

I thought they had already chosen the songs for this record... Anyway, I think this album is gonna be amazing . Not just because of the people composing and writting the songs, but because Celine is happy and ready to do it.

Delayed to when? I say this because Robin Leach reiterated today in the Las Vegas Sun that both an English and French-language album are to be released later this year.

No, it says on the article that the French album has been postponed cause they want to give Luc Plamondon more time to write the songs.
