well the main reason for them to add those extra tracks and better quality packaging is because it's actually more expensive to buy japanese edition in japan then the imported one from USA or so!!! can u believe that!!!

I have many different Japanese releases (not only Celine). I love these packages looks more luxurious with better colours of prints, additional booklets, OBI and one of the main reasons is much better mastering and sound against other worldwide releases. And of course they're always adding some bonus tracks because it's their standard. Well they know how to do things better!

 

Yes, you can notice that even in the quality of the printing they use. I remember when I bought their Taking Chances 18 track edition, and the ANDHC 2008 Collectors Edition, the quality of the pictures and the package was outstanding, much much clear than the US edition. They even took the trouble to include "Superlove", originally included in the european, japanese and other editions (but not in the US), when the US and European editions failed to do so I still remember how disappointed I was when I realized that Superlove wasn't in neither the US or the European versions. What kind of incompetents they have there, that they forget to include Superlove in the European edition, when this track was originally included in the 2002 release"??? and they called that a "collectors edition"?

 

And then we got their exclusive releases "Ultimate Box" and the "Complete Best"... they definetly know how to do things and treat their fans in SMJ

I believe the performance of "Je n'ai pas besoin d'amour" on Tout le monde en parle is among the best performances of the SANS ATTENDRE era. It's so simple, yet epic. It's a reminder to us all that it's not just Celine's BIG voice that got her to where she is. She can convey emotion simply and beautifully.

 

Does anyone know where I can get an MP3 of this performance? And other LIVE performances from the SANS ATTENDRE promotional tour?

L’album de la chanteuse a été le plus vendu de 2012 en France et au Québec

 

 

La popularité de Céline Dion dans la francophonie ­internationale est toujours aussi importante.

 

Qu’est-ce qui va arrêter Céline Dion? Ce n’est ­certainement pas le piratage. En ces temps où les ventes d’albums dégringolent à une vitesse ­vertigineuse, la chanteuse québécoise vient de franchir une très jolie marque : un million d’exemplaires de Sans attendre  vendus.

Tout juste avant la fin de l’année dernière, le million d’exemplaires vendus pour ce nouvel album de l’interprète était dans la mire. En quelques semaines, Sans attendre avait franchi le demi-million de disques vendus en Europe. Et c’était sans compter les ventes au Québec.

Hier, au bout du fil, René Angélil a confirmé au Journal que les ventes de Sans attendre  étaient bel et bien au-dessus du million.

«En Europe, c’est 750  000 albums vendus, pour la France, la Belgique et la Suisse, dit l’imprésario. Pour le Québec, c’est 250 000. C’est le plus gros vendeur en France et au Québec pour 2012. C’est extraordinaire, on ne pensait ­jamais vendre un million d’albums français dans le contexte d’aujourd’hui.»

 

L’impact de la tournée de promotion

Dans ses prédictions les plus optimistes pour Sans attendre  dans la francophonie internationale, à quoi rêvait René Angélil? «Honnêtement? Avec les ventes d’aujourd’hui, mes prédictions les plus optimistes étaient de 500 000.»

Sans hésiter, René Angélil affirme que l’imposante ­tournée de promotion de Céline Dion, l’an dernier à Paris et à Montréal, a eu un grand impact sur les ventes.

 

«Oui, c’est évident. En France, tout ce qu’elle a fait de promo a aussi été vu en Belgique et en Suisse. D’après moi, l’émission clé pour le Québec est celle où, avec Julie Snyder, elle avait eu un paquet d’invités de marque, dont Jean-Pierre Ferland, Fred Pellerin et Véronic Dicaire. En France, c’est l’émission spéciale avec Drucker et plusieurs invités, dont Johnny Hallyday. À mon avis, juste ces deux émissions, “ç’a fait la job”! Les gens ont écouté les nouvelles chansons, ils ont aimé ça.»

 

Surprise chez Sony

Il n’y a pas que René Angélil qui ait été surpris par les ventes de Sans attendre. «Les gens de Sony aux États-Unis n’en reviennent pas encore, mentionne-t-il. Ils sont surpris eux aussi. Même aux États-Unis, vendre un million ­d’albums en ce moment, c’est un exploit.»

Sans attendre  n’est pas disponible chez nos voisins du Sud présentement, mais ­René Angélil n’écarte pas l’idée d’éventuellement le mettre sur le marché américain.

 

Disque anglophone en octobre

Mais pour 2013, les États-Unis doivent plutôt s’attendre à recevoir un nouvel album anglophone de la chanteuse. ­Initialement prévue pour novembre dernier, une semaine après la sortie du disque francophone, la parution du nouvel opus en anglais de Céline Dion avait par la suite été repoussée au mois de mars.

 

Mais en janvier dernier, René Angélil et l’équipe de Sony Music ont décidé de reporter la sortie au mois d’octobre prochain. «On a pris cette décision parce qu’on a changé le concept de l’album. Au lieu de faire seulement la moitié du disque avec des chansons originales, on a décidé de ­faire un disque uniquement avec des nouvelles chansons.»

 

Remise de sa sinusite

René Angélil explique que la popularité de Sans attendre, qui n’est composé que de morceaux ­originaux, n’est pas étrangère au changement de concept. «Avec les gens de Sony, ç’a été soulevé dans la conversation, de faire juste des nouvelles ­chansons. On aime mieux ça, nous aussi.»

 

Céline Dion terminera sa série de spectacles à Las Vegas le 16 mars prochain, avant de prendre un congé de quelques semaines. C’est durant ce congé qu’elle enregistrera trois ou quatre nouvelles chansons pour l’album. «Le disque est complet à 95 %», indique René Angélil.

Elle a dû reporter trois concerts en ­raison d’une sinusite, il y a deux ­semaines, mais Céline Dion est ­maintenant pleinement rétablie.

«Les spectacles sont extraordinaires, commente René ­Angélil. J’espère que ça va bien se poursuivre.»­­

To be fair, I also thought Sans attendre would sell only 500,000 copies. But the fact that it has shipped 1m copies between only TWO countries [France - 750,000 & Canada - 250,000] speaks volumes for how this has outperformed almost everybody's initial expectations.

 

I stand firm in my long-term view that whilst he hasn't been perfect - Las Vegas for a decade is far too much - Rene Angelil is the most accomplished manager in music of the last 25 years.

I totally forgot about these songs. Hope Plamondon kept them for later use.

Let's be content with the song choices! It's what made the album that successful!

 

"Les Petits Pieds de Lea" was an unsuspected success on iTunes and YouTube. A song nobody would have put their fingers on.

 

PAMP didn't promise at all, and ended up being one of Céline longest-running singles on the french chart!

 

"SANS ATTENDRE" is still selling and yeah, it could be certified for 1 million if they continue promoting it. I hope René is still ambitious. Like those days when Dion Chante Plamondon got promotion during 3 years! Late US release included

I really hope that this change will be significant. But if they are really surprised with SA and postpone the English album because of it. why the hell they are waiting so long to release a single? QPVSA could have been on the radios already at the end of January. I thought that we would get the 4th single for the summer but now I doubt that.

of course, the promo tour helped the album and it's good to know that Rene has realised it but still the promo tour shouldn't be the end of promotion! and they should realise it too

That's true, the positive reaction of René and Sony in the interview is contradictory with the promotion they're doing lately. According to their enthusiasm they should be going for the 4th single currently!

 

Btw, what's going on today that the forum tells me "I've reached my quota of positive votes for the day"? Is it the wonderful news about the english album or what?
