I agree it is probably studio, but as far as her facial expressions.... in Vegas DVD she had a lot of expressions that she would do in all the playback songs that were not in the live songs....TPOL in Vegas was filled with them. In this video, I see it, but not nearly as much as I do in TPOL.

 

I agree with you Tyler. She did put more effort into the playback in Vegas. During the tour she got very lazy and just stood there showing very few signs of pain or discomfort. If it was really live she would have almost been on the floor holding the high note for that long if her 90s performances are anything to go by!

 

No, I actually think you interpret what I said in the opposite way... lol... I agree that all of her playbacks have looked lazy since 2003... but what I'm saying is.... in Vegas she added jaw movements, eye brow movements and other things that when you saw them, you immediately know it is playback. I guess it is a nervous habit she does when lipping. When she does those same notes live, those jaw movements and eye brow twitches and other things are not present... in this new TPOL video, it "looks live" because she has broken the habit of adding in all those movements which are not present in her live videos. I noticed it once compared to the about 34543 times in Vegas.

 

Oh sorry. So you think she over-did in Vegas, I thought she wasn't doing enough on tour. The theory works both ways I guess.

 

I have a question. In the old playback were the lines "Is light years away... / Cos I'm your lady" recorded separately then put together afterwards or was it all done in one breath? I could never tell, but in the new version I think it might have been done in one take.

 

I don't think she did enough in Vegas either. She over-did certain things, but didn't do enough of what she did in the 90's. In the 90's it all looked convincing. Whatever she did then worked...and she changed it in Vegas. The only playback in Vegas that looks convincing is I surrender. Apart from the movements being convincing, the track itself is also very convincing. It seems like it could actually be live.. so many of the tracks are way better than the studio versions that when we hear them it's just so obvious...like TLYM.... my lord! Hearing that in the Vegas DVD just sounds so out of place. I think this TPOL track is "perfect" because it's not perfect. It actually seems like something that would be heard in 2009... This track seems like the entire thing from the whispers in the morning (or cause I'm your lady...wherever the dubbing started) was done in one take and that was it.... the other seems like it was a bunch of takes taken together to get the best out of this world vocal that could possibly be made.

 

And to answer your question, I think it was one breath, one take. There isn't enough time between words for a breath, nor does it sound like there is enough time to place the two separate audios together, but it's just my opinion. I don't think it is something we can find out.

 

Don't u think that this is all excess to talk about now,to go into so unimportant details?With ur stories,it seems that Celine had always sung on playback.Come on.If it's just ur opinion,keep it in silence please.This is all ridiculous now and as u said,as far as we dont know the real thing,is better to be quite,so u try to do the same

 

As far as I have known, a message board has the sole purpose of allowing users to express their opinions. So therefore, I see no reason to keep my opinion in silence. If you disagree with my opinion, that is great (for you). It's your right to disagree and form your own opinion. But I'm not just going to sit in silence because you, one member, disagrees with my opinion. It defeats the whole purpose of being a member. Having differences in opinion, and accepting the opinions of others, without trying to take that persons right to their opinion away (as you are doing to me) is what can create some great, and effective discussion. The great thing about an opinion is that no one elses opinion is of no more value than any one elses; therefore, you shouldn't put yours above mine (as you are trying to do).

 

And sorry, but how is this an "unimportant detail" when it is a part of the live shows in a number of songs? And she has always sung in playback...since 1992 at least. It's nothing new. We all know that, and accept it for what it is.

And where do you hear uses of autotune in the new video? I'm not so great at hearing these things. The main thing I notice is that the word "something" is pronounced how it SHOULD be in everyday conversation, unlike the old playback where the g is removed and it's more of a softer sound....

Well it might not be "autotune" exactly, although I'm sure it's probably used at some points in the song. What I'm trying to say is that it's certainly not just the raw vocals. They've put some effects on for the DVD like with other songs to make it sound nicer.

Find me one post (that I posted) where I said she is lipping every song. I never said that. I know that she sings the majority of her shows live.

 

And I'm not complaining. Like I said, it doesn't bother me a whole lot. I have accepted it for what it is. I'm calling these things how I see it, and just because YOU see that as a negative, doesn't mean I am complaining. And like you said, can't we enjoy it for one second without complaining? Who is the one posting complaints right now?

 

If you have anything further to say to me on the subject, private message me. I don't want to hear it in here anymore. The board really does not need to be flooded with pointless posts about someones right to an opinion and your complaints of my posts.

It's amazing to think that ever since I was born in 1994 this song has never changed. Until now, when I'm almost 16. Today has been a great day - I am so proud to call myself a Celine fan after seeing this magnificent video!

Yeah I sometimes find the audience noise annoying too. I'd much rather hear Celine's fabuous voice lol. But what I hate even more is in the All By Myself video, they added a random whistling noise and it souded so fake!

I doubt she will take the effort and time to record them again in studio, and then have the whole videoteam trying to dub it the right way so that it looks real. That the sound is the same as her mouth movements.

That's why I'm hoping in the future she will record a new version and lip to it, then there won't be any dubbing issues when they film future DVDs, as it will just be perfectly synched like the old playback in her previous DVDs. However she'd have to do this again for each tour/Vegas show she does as they clearly want all vocals to be different in her DVDs now.

I can't accept rhat she finds TPOL difficult to sing today, Timster , not yet at least. Not when we have seen her in the studio singing Alone and That's Just The Woman In Me that way and doing those crazy screams everytime.

 

Other thing is that she finds hard to cope with singing TPOL day after day during AND, during the TCWT, or in the future during her new Vegas show. But then, why to come back again? Why to do it again? Or even, why to include this song again in the setlist when she has 499 more to present to the public? Thats the question

I love the fact that she re-recorded, but it makes me wonder. If she was going to re-record it in the end, why wouldn't they do that before the tour started, because then now people can see the DVD and say, hmmm... that didn't sound like when I went to the concert, and then go back to the videos they had from that night, and they will hear it is totally different. For people who aren't aware of the lipping etc. what will that make them think?? But, I guess it might have been hard to do all the new recordings fresh after Vegas and right before the tour, so I guess that is reasonable.
