Lensed during the Canadian superstar's 2008-2009 Taking Chances World Tour (the second highest-grossing ever for a solo artist), Celine: Through the Eyes of the World opens a window into the real life, both on-stage and off, of the best-selling female recording artist of all time.

 

Director Stéphane Laporte and team enjoyed unprecedented access to the decade's top performer as she played concerts in five continents, 25 countries and 93 cities, selling more than three million tickets during her first major tour in nine years.

 

"This was an amazing world tour, but there's a lot more than just concert footage on this film," said Celine. "I let the cameras follow me everywhere. There are a lot of ups and downs, and it's very personal...It's definitely the most intimate journey that I've ever shared with my fans."

 

Clocking in at three hours, the home version of Celine: Through the Eyes of the World includes an additional hour's worth of footage not seen in the film's limited theatrical run in February 2010. A Blu-ray version will also be available on May 18.

 

Working with choreographer/director Jamie King, Celine Dion created a multi-media state-of-the-art production for the two-hour concerts on her monumental Taking Chances World Tour, the eleventh of her career. According to this note from the official press release the movie DVD and the concert CD/DVD package will come out on the same day (May 4 in Canada and May 11 in the USA), only Deluxe Edition will be released a week later on May 18.

It happened in both Montreal and Boston on the days they filmed the DVD, so it shoud be on both DVDs. The Montreal one was funny as hell though. She was to cute!

What I find most frustrating, is that we're being constantly messed with by Sony, every week there's another delay. And yet when we finally get the DVDs we'll still end up with a less than satisfactory release.

 

Sony, if you are reading this, pull yourselves together. Release the FULL Boston and Montreal concerts, and release both on Blu-ray too!!!

 

We were told about the Deluxe DVD that the reason why this version is released later is because of supply/production problems/delays and because of the picture book (which also is produced extra and separately). (and of course marketing reasons )

Yes but the fact is this was recorded 2 years ago and should already be edited, produced, printed, and packaged. They should worry about being professional and making one release date and sticking to it.

Apparantly IYA will be featured in the movie, so I think I'll make a video using a mix of that audio + the ACDS audio if it's not the complete song, then put together a video of wide angle shots of her on stage and from the documentary, then make a new DVD of the concert with this included. That's the best we'll get to a full Boston concert.

 

I plan to also make a new DVD of the Montreal concert with TPOL and EOM from Boston included to make the full Montreal concert set list.
