Celine on Oprah - February 10th, 2010

Just as I was about to give up hope and carry on with life, the words "Thank you! Your message was successfully submitted!" appeared! AHHHHHHhhhhhhh!!!!

I shall now go back to my catatonic, er, sleepy state, with a little smile on my face...

Wow!! Congrats! I tried everything I could think of and constantly got the white screen. Any idea of what the problem was? Only thing I can think of is my message was too long, it was around 1,980 characters. It's probably for the best though, because it didn't dawn on me I'd have to pay for the flight and hotel.

I've been contacted by Oprah staff as Italian fan. They've asked me if I can SKYPE with them.

I wrote them previously about the forum. And they asked me if there any any fans from South Africa and Asia who are interested in a SKYPE appearance on Oprah during the taping. Cheerfuljane and Bellamy, can I give them your contacts? Who else is interested?

Acacia, I tried MULTIPLE times until I finally got that message. I tried changing how I input my phone numbers to the number of pictures I uploaded to the 2000 characters of my short writeup. I guess, my tip is to (sadly!) take out any é in Céline, minimize the usage of apostrophes, brackets, forward slashes... Seriously, that was what I did. Of course, if you copied and pasted it from Word or something, retype your apostrophes, brackets, forward slashes... That was my final straw and suddenly "Thank You...." So, yeah... I hope it works!

Oh, and I don't think you need to fly there, they'll probably offer to Skype with you, like Vinny's case. And furthermore, the US fans' ticketing option was already taken off. I guess they already have a full crowd. :confused:

For canada, i would love to be on! I wrote in, but nothing yet But i've written many many times over the years. ive seen the taking chances tour 5 times in canada, the last one in montreal (feb 15th) where i got to go up and give her flowers by the stage, as i was reaching for a hug, celine goes " ahhh dont pull me off the stage" ..lol it was hillarious. All my lifetime dreaming of what celine would say to me if i could talk to her, and i get "dont pull me off the stage" lol love it.

I really wanted to get in the audience with my mom, it was her b-day today so i thought it would be so awesome if we got the call, but nothing Its weird that they had it up, i applied, then i guess they had more seats and put the link back up, but why didnt they call the people who already applied :S im starting to worry that my requests didnt get sent thu, because i tried several times and kept getting blank pages. But then apparantly it went thru.

Im still being hopefull, there is still tommorow!!

Chellbie, that is awesome! Indeed, Céline is the common denominator for my friendships here, but a few of us (like your 14!) have really stepped outside and just bonded beyond that and we all know that Céline was the one who first brought us together. I still haven't met my buddies in person yet (except for the Malaysian ones! Yay, Kris!) but yeah, Céline truly does unite us all... Thanks for sharing and congratulations on being able to be there! WE’RE GOING TO THE OPRAH SHOW!!!!!!

As many of you know, there is a group of us girls that have become so close since the world tour. There is a told of 14 of us and we speak EVERYDAY via facebook, tokbox, skype, msn, and anyway you can think. We have had MANY get togethers and 7 of us spent new years together in New York and 4 gals spent it together in Australia. Our friendship has grown stronger than any friendships we could have created with ‘non-celine friends’

So with that being said, last October we submitted a huge package to Oprah’s producers. It had letters from all 14 of us and a dvd that I created explaining our story. The main focus was how we had not all been together since the last show in Omaha. And in fact, 3 girls couldn’t even make it to that show. Oprah please brings us together and let us thank Celine! Well for months we never heard anything and were honestly thinking of moving to Ellen Degeneres next- ha!

BUT… DREAMS TO COME TRUE!

On Tuesday, January 26th, at 8pm I got a phone call..

C: “hello?”
E: “May I speak with Chelsey?”
C: “This is she…”
E: “Hey Chelsey, this is Erica from the Oprah Winfrey Show”
… (thinking, OH. MY. GOSH)
C: “okay…? HEY!”
E: “So you’re a Celine fan I hear? And there’s 13 more of you? I have this dvd here.”
C: “YES!!! Yes yes yes.. Did you hear my ringback tone?? Its CELINE!!!!!”
E: “ haha yes I did, I knew I had the right number!”
E: “Well you’re the first one I’ve called out of everyone, do you have a way of contacting everyone?”
C: “YES! We talk everyday!!”
E: “you do? WOW! That’s so cool! And you guys are all best friends? And you met because of Celine?”
C: “yes, that’s right! And she has NO idea what she has done for us!”
E: “ Okay Chelsey, well our producers love your story and we would love to talk with you all. Do you all have webcams? Could you skype with us on Friday afternoon, say… 1pm?”
C: “Yes we will all be there!!! I’ll call them and let them know!”
E: “Now remember, this is just a preliminary interview. We don’t even have a show in the pipeline for Celine. We are just trying to get ideas and we want to find out more about your story. Please, do NOT get your hopes up. As I said Its JUST preliminary. I’ll call you again tomorrow morning and make sure you were able to get a hold of everyone. I’ll be sending you a speed test to do on your computer and also I will need to test skype with everyone sometime before Friday to make sure we’re up and running. We NEED all 14 of you there. Okay?”
C: “oh we’ll be there.. THANK YOU SO MUCH ERICA!”
E: “no thank you! Remember, its just a preliminary interview! Talk to you tomorrow!”

I freaked. I spent a good few minutes just pacing my room trying to figure out how to tell the girls and what was the quickest way to get a hold of all 13 of them right away. This is what we had wanted. Yea after we made the dvd we felt like we had a good chance but after not hearing from them it teetered away. I called Amber first who was in disbelief and we each called the rest of them! Everyone was THRILLED and agreed to be at the skype interview!
I talked to Erica the next morning..

C: “hello?”
E: “Good morning Chelsey! I smile everytime I call you because of your ringtone!”
C: “haha yes!!!”
E: “so were you able to get a hold of everyone? Is everyone in?”
C: “yes we are all in!”
E: “ okay great, I’ll send and email with all the information for you to send to the girls”

(( Then some more talky talky blah blah))

For two days I’m pretty sure none of us slept, ate, drank, or thought correctly. We just had no idea what was in store for us. Was this really a preliminary interview?
One by one we each did our skype tests with Erica.. they only last a few minutes as the skype crew were just testing our connections. At this point the 1st announcement had been made that Celine would be filming feb. 3rd and to enter in your story. Well if this WAS just preliminary then COULD WE ENTER IN TOO? We were so confused. So during Brittany’s skype test she asked nonchalantly.

B: “ so, I see on the website where we can enter in to come to the show that’s being taped next week? Can we do that?”
E: “Oh yeah, I just heard about that coming down the stairs. That’s actually a glitch in our system. There isn’t a show being planned right now. We’re updating our website and that got posted by accident from a past show we did with her. Sorry”

This is where our thoughts came thinking that the announcement was a glitch
Then the other post was made about if you were a fan and went on the tour or were international. But then they removed that too. We were MORE than confused. Excited, nervous, scared, hopefully, sick, …. All of the above!

Friday afternoon finally rolled around. It was early in the morning in Australia. Luckily the 2 UK girls were in Australia with Marne so they skyped together. Then she had us USA girls all at our different times but everyone managed to be on at the same time. She started setting us up at 12:30 my time. (the time got pushed forward half an hour)
We were praying for good news!!! BUT were so worried for the outcome. This is what we had wanted!!!!

So as they connected us we couldn’t see anyone but they had arranged it to where they could see us. And they would speak to us and could hear each of us. We could only hear Erica. She went through, one by one and asked us.. “ Okay so tell me why you’re the biggest celine dion fan?” we each answered. It took a while.. I mean 14 answers! Whew!
She lost connection with Elisa (one of our girls<3)for a moment and then got it back…

She said…

“I think we lost Elisa for a moment but now that we have her back … I wanna tell you guys how much I appreciate you all spending the time to talk to us and when we get a video like that we just want to make sure we talk to everybody and now that we have Elisa back up here I just wanna tell everybody… I’m sure you all know by now, that… ya know, word travels fast… that Celine WILL be on our show on Wednesday. I know a couple of you guys were asking about that and it just wasn’t 100% then so I didn’t want to tell you. But you know we were hoping to do some fan surprises so I’ve been trying to keep it quiet but I can tell you from the bottom of my heart 100% so you don’t have expectations, we DON’T have time and we’re not going to be doing fan surprises in the show so I thought since we love your story so much we thought it would just be fun to have you guys here at the show so if you’re able to get here, you all are invited to come to our show on Wednesday to see Celine”

Of course we all freaked out and screamed and danced, and teared up! OF COURSE we would be there! It was funny because Angela wasn’t cheering so Erica assumed she missed the announcement hahaha. So Erica re announced it saying that they ran out of time during the show due to the fact that Celine would need so much time promoting the movie??!

She then said,

“So the way this is going to work, ya know, you can imagine how many millions.. I mean, 3 million people bought her concert tickets so there are millions and millions of fans out there and you are the 14 that we have reached out to as far as having seats in the audience. (not sure if this is true.. thanks for making us feel special Erica hahahahah nice try.. ) I just want to make sure that expectations aren’t too high, this is sort of a surprise and I hope you know it is a very special thing for these 14 fans to be able to come see her. We thought it would be fun for you guys to hear the news together and to see each other all together so we thought that would atleast be fun to do together.”

Blah blah blah, chitty chatty.. the rest was just logistics, but I’m happy to say that we will ALL BE GOING! Even our sweet Canadian, Aussie, and Uk girls!! The first time ALL 14 of us have been together EVER!!!!
She later called and said that they would be showing the movie, Celine: Through The Eyes Of The World the night before the taping. (Tuesday night) at a theatre near the studios. I don’t think its any huge premiere. Just a showing so that the audience has seen it when they begin promoting it during the taping. So not only will all 14 of us be brought together, we’ll also see the movie together, and sit together in front of Celine... holding hands

Its true that hard work and persistence really pays off, you have to dream big and aim high. NEVER give up. To each of you.. listen to us… NEVER give up. Thanks to the forum for bring us together. If it weren’t for a great place like this where we can all come together thanks to our commonalities then we wouldn’t have the chance to find the amazing friends we have. We wont be feature on the show but we hope to be in the audience and we’ll make you all proud <3

Haha, im still praying!!! but im doubting they will call on a weekend? I really want to share my story, how her music has helped me through so much in my life, and in my mom;s as she has cerebral palsy. It was her b-day today (the 29th) and i was hoping that we would get the call. Im just thinking that it never went through cuz it kept messing up on me lol.

aww thanks! haha yea, none of my friends at home are celine fans unfortunately I dont understand how anyone cound not be a fan! lol. she is just amazing! i went to 5 shows during the taking chances tour, but unfortunately didnt really mingle with anyone, which i regret. i should have met some peopel going to the shows, and met up with them. it would have been a great experience. Hopefully if i get the chance, i would love to meet new friends on here haha vegas anyone? lol

None of my friends close to me are fans too... Most of my Céline friends come from all over the world (with the exception of a couple from within the country but in a different state!). When you can't find 'em close, join the world instead! hehe... I haven't looked back since, to be honest!
