fan2celinedion Posted May 14, 2010 at 10:08 AM Posted May 14, 2010 at 10:08 AM Why the heck did they wrote "director's cut" to make people that it's different from the normal DVD version Quote
Javito Posted May 14, 2010 at 10:10 AM Posted May 14, 2010 at 10:10 AM WOW Garou, thank you so much!! You are the first member to get it, so fast! I love how the made the discs, great idea! However, apart from the fact that they left that so little representative picture for the cover, I can't believe they didn't centered the Celine title in the cover! They haven't edited anything since the first time we saw the actual cover! Where did you get it? I don't know yet where to order Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

CSCfan Posted May 14, 2010 at 01:20 PM Posted May 14, 2010 at 01:20 PM Dion travelogue subs nicely for concert film VIDBITS | Fast-paced doc showcases singer's tender side May 14, 2010 BY MIRIAM DI NUNZIO Staff Reporter "Celine -- Through the Eyes of the World" (Sony, $14.98) A new online Harris Poll names Celine Dion "America's Favorite Singer," beating out U2, Elvis Presley, the Beatles, and in ninth place (!?), a certain blue-eyed crooner. If you want to see what the champ is all about, and you happed to miss "Celine -- Through the Eyes of the World" during its limited two-week theatrical engagement in February, here's your chance to check it out -- along with an hour of additional footage. As far as concert films go, there is music to be sure. But this one is more of a backstage/ travelogue of Dion's 25-country, 93-city 2008 world tour, her first full-out tour in nine years, chronicled by director Stephane Laport, cinematographer Jean Francois Perrault and what seems like 50 cameras (or at least that many camera angles). The editing is sharp and stylized, leaving us with a fast-paced visual and aural trek. The music? A handful of numbers (few presented in their entirety) are performed at gargantuan arenas across the globe, from Sydney to Dubai to Beijing to Berlin to Los Angeles -- you get the picture. There are few talking heads to speak of, which would have jettisoned the film into the realm of full-out documentary. Instead, we catch glimpses of the family sightseeing, visiting Nelson Mandela's prison cell on Robben Island, having pizza in London, celebrating her 40th birthday, watching as Dion selects a costume that covers her arms and legs so as not to offend her Muslim fans in Dubai. There are tender moments with her immediate family: husband-manager Rene Angelil, 8-year-old son Rene Charles, as well as her extended family of show folk, which includes a tour doctor ready to give her ailing jaw a last-minute "adjustment" before curtain. Heck, we even see Dion sans makeup and uncoiffed (she still looks marvelous). I wish they had included her workout routine, as she's obviously in peak physical shape. One fascinating sequence shows her working through the entire staging of her concert (along with her choreography supervisor) while the singer's sitting in her hair and makeup chair before a concert. The camera intercuts between Dion walking us through the movements with the live show she's visualizing in the air around her. The rest of the three-hour extravaganza consists of the usual concert tour shots: private jet flights, chauffeured cars, pre-show rehearsals, sound checks, meet-and-greets. And through it all, Dion comes across as very endearing, even when she's flat on her behind during her big stage entrance in Montreal. Dion, the consummate pro, takes it all in stride. Note: Simultaneously released is the 80-minute "Taking Chances World Tour" DVD/CD combo (filmed in Boston) under separate packaging (and price), which begs the question: Why not just package the whole shebang on one three-disc DVD? But i can say that on the DVD Celine Through The Eyes Of The World Deluxe Edition the film is 3 hours long. And on the DVD Menu there is no bonus. And on the DVD Céline Autour DU Monde (normal DVD) the film is also 3 hours long. So i don't know whats different.
