Davey84 Posted November 6, 2009 at 02:38 PM Posted November 6, 2009 at 02:38 PM Celine Dion is the best-selling female artist on the planet. What more can you want? How can she beat that? to become the best selling artist in the universe!!! I am not against an amazing, huge ballad, but it has to be a modern one and if it's really really good, she should release it, if not, than it's nice for the fans to have it on the album Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th
zuv Posted November 6, 2009 at 02:45 PM Author Posted November 6, 2009 at 02:45 PM I'd like to see her sing songs that maximize her voice to its fullest extent, similar to how she did before. Sure, throw in an "edgy" song or two.... but don't make her the same ordinary singer as everyone else today is, especially when she posesses a voice they don't. They're singing songs like that because they can't actually belt out a real song. Totally agree with that statment. Let the other singers make good music that we will all enjoy for a month or so, and let Celine blow your mind with her vocals that no one on this planet ever had and will never have. FIY was awesome because the album gave a little bit of everything: Vocals (All By Myself +many more), Edgy (Your Light) Rythm (River Deep Mountain High) Calm (Fly). Everybody got their piece of cake. Next album she could had 2 songs with jazz to make her fans and herself happy. But plz pray that she'll come back relaxed, refreshed in 2 yrs or so with powerful ballades. Thats who she is! I'd like to see her sing songs that maximize her voice to its fullest extent, similar to how she did before. Thats what I meant by "Prove herself" Celine always wanted perfection (after saying that perfection doesnt exist) when recodring albums, always wanted to surpass her limits. Im not making that up, she said it herself. I wish she would feel the same way again... I dont know, maybe im asking too much... cause she said that now she has other priorities.... Quote
browseceline Posted November 6, 2009 at 03:12 PM Posted November 6, 2009 at 03:12 PM she doesn't need high notes to prove anything, she need quality in her music style, that's all Right on! Most people don't care about high notes nowdays anyway. The ''high notes'' thing is a thing of the past and belongs to the 90's just like David Foster and Diane Warren songs. Celine doesn't need that. That post right there shows how bad the music industry has changed in the past 15 years. It used to be about the voice.. Now...who cares. Anyone can make it. Whether your voice is only average, or if it actually is something amazing... Changing tastes and now auto tuners have taken out the real talent. The music change every decade, look for the 70's, 80's, 90's....every decade have a typical sound.... nowadays the music is be difference, doing always something new like Lady Gaga Albums like TCOML, FIY and LTAL are timeless albums, cause if you play them always sounds actual, try play other music like Britney's first album About Celine… might the only thing that she needs to prove is about doing her own stuff http://www.photofeatures.com/worldmusicawards2004/images/thumbs/DSCF0347a.jpg Okay, but what is the real point in her keeping up with the times? Sorry, hate to say it; but, chances of Celine having another #1 single are slim to none. If she were to release "Bleeding Love" or "Just Dance" ....she wouldn't have nearly the success with it that Leona Lewis or Lady Gaga had. Why? Those two do more than triple the amount of promotion Celine has done on her last album. And sadly.... when you say Celine Dion to people...well, she is already molded into peoples minds as one kind of artist. An artist that they unfortunately don't want to listen too... They won't even give her the chance. Sure, I like quite a few songs off of TC. But how many of those songs actually qualify as "edgy"? If releases and promotion were done 100% correctly, then maybe she could have a top 10. But chances of this happening are just as slim as what I said up above... The one thing Celine has that artists today don't has is a powerful voice that can do wonders. No one today is able to hit notes as high as she does, as long as she does, as powerful, as low...anything. I'd like to see her sing songs that maximize her voice to its fullest extent, similar to how she did before. Sure, throw in an "edgy" song or two.... but don't make her the same ordinary singer as everyone else today is, especially when she posesses a voice they don't. They're singing songs like that because they can't actually belt out a real song. Why the hell does she need to lower her standards? Like I said, you can say that Foster/Warren are a thing of the 90's...but as far as the American public (and charts) is concerned... so is Celine Dion. That is just as it is! You completely say how it is; Celine is not the popular 90s queen anymore and even though she could make some catchy nothinginparticular-r&bsingle, chances she gets that popular as she was, are very small. Celine is in a league of her own. The league of powerful high notes and powerballads (and some dance). That way she is at her best Quote <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Tyler1991 Posted November 6, 2009 at 03:38 PM Posted November 6, 2009 at 03:38 PM Another thing.... look at Mariah Carey. She used to sing the same powerful jaw dropping ballads Celine sang in TCOML/FIY/LTAL era's. She has completely changed herself as an artist to keep up with the times. It's rare to see her wearing clothes (maybe because they don't make shirts that fit over her implants), and her songs are now R&B and pop. In 50 years, when Mariah is gone....how are people going to remember her? For songs like Hero, Vision Of Love, I'll Be There....or that crap she has now like Touch My Body, Obsessed, Shake It Off...... Is this what you want for Celine? Sure, she can release albums that have songs like Fade Away in them.... but in 50 years are people going to say... "Wow, Fade Away was such a hot tune!" Or are they going to remember..."man, she had one of the best voices I have ever heard. That note in All By Myself is mind blowing!" I'm pretty sure we all know. =) Quote

Anyway, I also don't mind ''Because You Loved Me''. In fact, I don't mind her including any of those songs as long as it is live. I want Celine to sing part of ''My Heart Will Go On'' acappella and then with the piano only like ''My Love''. That would be amazing... valush Posted November 6, 2009 at 04:47 PM Posted November 6, 2009 at 04:47 PM :o I'm so shocked about this topic! Taking Chances was the full package of Celine's range and even if she said she doesn't need to prove anything else, she goes on with re-inventing high notes. That high note on Taking Chances, that high note of The woman in me, Fade away... she had never sung high notes like that on any of her albums. Those notes impressed me more than The Power of love. Without mentioning "a new dawn" , THE song that shows all her capacities, from very lowwwwwwwwwwww to very high. We all know that she can belt like anybody else , she doesn't need to sing like that in every song...Exactly!!! I don't get why some people are saying that Celine doesn't show her range on TC. Maybe there's something wrong with their ears? This is over overwhelming! really i dont think the person who started this topic ,but for Christ sake we all now Celine Dion is a gifted person, thats why we admire and love her so much because she not only prove herself in a lot of aspects emotionaly, physical she also prove us as an audience and as her fans ...she make changes in peoples life ...this bigger than notes and aclaration SHE definitely get the highest to the to the loweest note "New Dawn " is a good prove ...but i mean do we neede proves i think seh have prove us and the world her capacities . René 2 Posted November 6, 2009 at 07:17 PM Posted November 6, 2009 at 07:17 PM I agree with the one who opened the topic. I think that the will to prove herself has made Celine who she is today. Let's get a selection of Celine's favourites, less touring, more intimate shows and I think Celine will be at her best once again. I think its important that she sings what SHE loves the most and which reflects who SHE is as a person, not driven by this commercial conveyor belt method of making albums at the drop of a hat and trying to make as much money as possible just because the 'majority' of the public want it. She always amazed me when I first became a fan of how she got into the charts with this adult contemporary style and was one of those artists that everyone publicly said they never liked but deep down loved her and listened to her. Her music has always been deep and these days people just want to avoid that. Quick fixes - that's the music of today. Quote
SensationalCeline Posted November 8, 2009 at 05:10 PM Posted November 8, 2009 at 05:10 PM I think whatever Celine comes out with is brilliant and it's always her. Regardless of the high notes or not, we know what she is capable of and she knows what she wants to do with the upcoming albums. She surprised us with Taking Chances so maybe the next album will be a totally new style and while it may not have high notes, it will still be amazing because it's Celine. angelil78 Posted November 8, 2009 at 06:34 PM Posted November 8, 2009 at 06:34 PM I don't think she needs to prove herself. She has made a name of her self and can now have fun. I think she still does stuff where she proves her self like "I Surrender" Love how relaxed she is now. She is the queen of ballads, she just finished Las Vegas a few years ago, something nobody has never done before. Finished world tour that was sold out. Quote
CynthiaTDL Posted November 8, 2009 at 06:49 PM Posted November 8, 2009 at 06:49 PM How many people around the "WORLD" can reconize Mariah, Madonna, or Whitney, just by hearing their voice. Celine is known "by" her voice, personality, generousity and most of all for her love for us, her fans!. No other star or diva has taken the time that Celine has to autograph, touch and reconize HER fans. This is what I will remember most about Celine. Almost 30 years in the business and she got to where she is by "NOT" exposing herself, being slutty or vulgar and not dissing her fans. It was through sacrifice of her youth, discipline and darn hard work. No regular human being could keep up with the schedule that she has keep all these years. Most times Celine has gone on with her concerts when she has had fevers and been sick, because she was concerned with how much "The Fans" had paid for her tickets, plane fares, hotel costs and time off from their jobs. Do you know and other diva that would take all that in to consideration? I didn't think so! No one said that when Celine comes back to Vegas that it will be all music. We have no idea what she will be doing. Rene has said that she is very comical, wants to do theater, etc. Let's love her for who she is and not just who she can beat in the ratings. We all know what her capabilities are and she has nothing to prove to us. There is no genre of music that she cannot sing; from opera to rap, jazz to blues, ballads to rock. We all should feel honored to have lived through this time of being able to listen to and see in person this great individual. I feel that if we are"TRUE" Celine Dion fans we should stop this ridiculous thread and just encourage her to enjoy a "REAL" life for awhile. If and when (after the baby she may change her mind and decide just to stay home) she does come back, we will be totally elated and enjoy whatever she wants to give to us. Quote CynthiaTDL

Shaun Posted November 8, 2009 at 10:07 PM Posted November 8, 2009 at 10:07 PM Nail on the head. Celine / Rene / Sony keeping rolling out TPOL, BYLM, LCMM, RDMH and MHWGO etc because that's what they *think* people want to hear. The reality is these are the songs that defined Celine's English career and were the songs that were promoted to death in the 90's and were quite rightly a success. Now......................................................what's changed since then? Hmmmm. Sony's promotion for Celine's NEW music is, in a word, crap. So no-one (other than people who know where to look) really gets to hear her new material meaning the singles all fail miserably in the charts meaning that the endless circle keeps going round. Eyes On Me didn't chart. Alone didn't chart. Goodbyes' The Saddest Word didn't chart. One Heart didn't chart. You and I didn't chart. I could go on. The reason? SONY DIDN'T PROMOTE THEM NEARLY WELL ENOUGH OR INDEED AT ALL!!! So, her new singles fail and therefore Celine / Rene / Sony THINK people don't like her newer material and don't want to hear them so all we get again and again is the 90's singles. If Celine tours in 10 years time do you think we'll get to hear "Alone" in the set list or "Love Can Move Mountains?" I know which I'd put my money on. Tyler1991 Posted November 8, 2009 at 10:37 PM Posted November 8, 2009 at 10:37 PM (edited) MHWGO and BYLM should be in every show as they are her biggest hits. MHWGO especially. Do you have any idea how many people go to her concerts for the sole reason of hearing "the titanic song?" To damn many. And while BYLM may be over-performed, at least it's still another song in the live column. I'd rather have it performed then I would have EOM be performed in playback. LCMM is a song that is performed because Celine enjoys it. She has fun performing it, but I think it can be replaced by something similar such as I Wish, Declaration Of Love, Misled, or Unison. If any of the first three, hopefully they wouldn't be playback again. Enough of that. Or hell, replace it with Dans Un Autre Monde or Terre. A fun up-tempo song that is in FRENCH. I'm tired of seeing the same French song performed at every English show. How about exposing more then the same French song to your English audience... Sure, PQTME is the biggest song of her career. Sure, keep performing it at English concerts...but at the very least... include at least 1-2 other French songs. How about CNQR....her first ever song! When is the last time it was performed in full!?!!? 10 years ago? Maybe even include a french medley perhaps, to replace the over-used/over-lipped vegas medley..... Why is IACBTMN, TLYM, and TPOL still being performed anyway. Those hits were no bigger then Think Twice, If You Asked Me To, Where Does My Heart Beat Now, and Only One Road....and no more enjoyable then other classics such as Water From The Moon, That's The Way It Is,Beauty And The Beast, When I Fall In Love, The Last To Know, Nothing Broken But My Heart...etc.... Scrap the over-used frustrating Vegas medley, get rid of TPOL and make a new medley comprising three of the songs above..... but still keep BYLM in the show, and performed in it's full version.... seriously, what the hell is up with half the songs being cut in half??? Rather then perform TPOL in playback for the 1200th time, perform a song LIVE that hasn't been performed before. There are so many songs that have NEVER been live that we would all KILL to hear just once!! And what the hell is up with half the French concerts being full of English songs. I refuse to call it a French concert when this Montreal DVD comes out. I'll call it a bilingual DVD. But by no means is a 25 song concert filled with 16 english songs a French concert! I'm not even going to get to promotion failures and playback in this as there is no point anymore. Edited November 8, 2009 at 10:40 PM by Tyler1991 Quote
Davey84 Posted November 8, 2009 at 10:46 PM Posted November 8, 2009 at 10:46 PM (edited) actually TT was a monster hit in Europe, so that should have been in every european show above TPOL or TLYM! BATB was her first big breakthrough, so that would have been a nice change... I do love that i saw more 'french' shows than 'english' ones, cos it saved me from the vegas medley! LOL but SLP showed us that Dans un autre monde could have been a great opener instead of IDAN! Shaun Posted November 8, 2009 at 10:50 PM Posted November 8, 2009 at 10:50 PM Absolutely fantastic post Tyler. I agree with everything you have said including the fact "My Heart Will Go On" should be performed at every show. The point I (and Davey) were making that you have also picked up on is why the other 10 or so "classics" have to be included in every single show on every single tour at every single opportunity. As you quite rightly point out Celine has got a huge back catalogue of hits she can delve into and include in shows but for whatever reason chooses not to. There has been a huge movement from Sony / Celine / Rene to bring the fans closer to Celine in recent times and surely now it's time for the next tour / show to involve some of those lesser known songs or hits that the fans truly want to hear performed live. Take some chances if you will. Quote Bringing you the world's only Celine Dion podcast show since 2014.Find us on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Spotify & Amazon Music.
nuts2you Posted November 8, 2009 at 10:52 PM Posted November 8, 2009 at 10:52 PM WEll said, I couldn"t agree more, someone really need to tell Rene/Sony about this. They need to know what US fans really want in a show to make us HAPPY. Quote
